Classic bait and switch - with an added sting
I received a quote to sell my old iPhone via WeBuyTek on 29/4/26. i was clear in the description that the phone had screen damage but worked well and this was taken into consideration on the offer. I packaged off the hone via their own cardboard packaging service and then received a downgraded offer because - the screen was damaged on inspection. This had been declared at time of process. The offer was a 70% reduction - claiming the phone was irreparable or sell-able
I declined this offer and, surprise surprise, they increased their offer immediately on the 8/5/26 - impressive if the phone was irreparable. The second offer was a 50% reduction from the original.
I declined a second time and requested they returned my phone .
The phone was returned promptly. i filmed myself opening the package as i had a suspicion things may not be simple and i'm glad i did. The phone that was returned was completely unusable - the screen more damaged than when sent and would not display anything in 90% of the pixels. It looks like the company had either maliciously damaged it, they had attempted to remove the screen or it had been damaged in transit. However the damage occurred - it occurred whilst either using their postal service and packaging or at when in their possession. as they had not paid me - the phone remained my property.
The company is currently refusing to communicate or respond to any messages. With the total blanking from the company I about to start a small claims procedure through the courts. At this point it is the principal rather than anything else.

Great experience
Great experience. By far the best paying site I found for my old iPhone. They sent packaging out quickly. We sent our phone in and paid within 5 hours of receiving an email saying they had recieved the phone. Could not fault the process and will definitely use again

Use alternative trade-in sites instead
I used WeBuyTek to trade in a broken iPhone 11 and initially received a quote of £67 under their faulty category. After sending the phone in, the offer was revised down to £30 due to “Digitizer, Glass Condition, Unable to refurbish LCD”.
What disappointed me was that the original quoted criteria already stated that cracked screens and heavy cosmetic wear were acceptable for faulty devices, so the revaluation felt inconsistent with the original assessment.
I also found the process frustrating because there didn’t appear to be any meaningful way to challenge or discuss the revised valuation. The only alternatives were to accept the reduced offer or pay a £10 fee to have the device returned.
Based on this experience, I would personally use other trade-in services in future, as I have found them to be fairer and more transparent when assessing devices against their quoted grading criteria.
