Having used similar ticket protection in the past and been let down by very small print, TicketPlan was very clear. When we made the decision to not attend the event a week before, I got the ball rolling through the portal.

I did find the portal clunky and not very customer friendly (timed out after leaving it for 5 minutes as well, meaning I had to start from scratch). But once submitted we waited a week or so to hear back. One of their agents then asked for further details (that were actually included in the initial form), which then took another couple of weeks to process.

In the end we got a full refund, which we were pleased with - just took a while and was quite clunky!

They were patient and helpfull and as long as you have what they are asking for then they will process your refund i would recommend using them they were great with me.

Bought a £10 ticket to a card show and wanted to cancel 3 months in advance due to mental ill health and depression. Needed waves and waves of paperwork and in my current state I can barely even leave the house, this insurance policy is not worth it in my opinion. I would be careful before using this company. Also ignored my emails and very rude.

Event attendance was cancelled due to bereavement. Refund process was fast and efficient - shame we had to obtain the death certificate before we could claim, but understand the reasons why.

Total waste of time and money. If you ever need to apply for a refund they want so much documentary evidence it's like conducting a police investigation. It's a huge admin task and communication is slow, automated and completely unhelpful.

Absolutely amazingly helpful with organising a refund for tickets I had brought for an event months in advance but could not attend due to medical reasons.

I was due to attend a concert in Edinburgh on 26-09-26. I was made aware, via e mail, the day before that my train from Darlington to Edinburgh was cancelled both there and back. I was unable at such short notice to book another train ticket so cancelled the concert tickets and applied for a refund online submitting all appropriate evidence. The company has refused to refund on the grounds that if something is public knowledge prior to the event taking place then the insurance is void. Interesting that they do not specify any time frame about a reasonable timeframe for making alternative arrangements. I don’t consider less than 24 hours knowledge reasonable. Will submit a formal complaint about this company to the Ombudsman as a matter of principle.

Not straight forward at first and too much hassle but got my money back once I proved reason behind not being able to use tickets

What a waste of money... Don't bother our son has been taken poorly so now cant stay at his friends while we travel and attend a concert... There are also other factors that have totally taken it out of our hands. Please do not waste your money on this...

It mentions that the policy covered the circumstances but was rejected…

I bought tickets to one concert in another country, however, I got very sick and couldn´t participate on the concert with my partner. I paid extra for refund service, provided the medical confirmation and got money back. Thanks a lot.

Straightforward and simple procedure to refund tickets after an injury meant we could no longer attend

We had to cancel an event due to illness.
Process was easy to follow.
Refund was given within a week.

I attend the British Brass Band Open Championships every year. I have always paid A couple of £'s for ticket protection but up until this year never needed it. I hurt my back and was in ecruciating pain, unable to stand up straight, or walk properly, and unale to drive. I was taken to a Chiropractor who told me I had damaged my back and had a herniated Disc (slipped disc) in my back. He advised me not to travel the two hour journey and said I would not be able to sit through the all day event even if I got there. Sadly I could not go. I went through the 'Ticket Plan' refund procedure, sending off the Chiropractors report that had been rubber stamped with the surgeries official stamp. I expected to have to spend a lot of time justifying my case. 'Ticket Plan were happy that I had followed procedure and gave me a refund. I was extremely happy with the professional way this was handled.

You might think, when booking tickets for event, that a few quid for insurance to cover a refund in the event of illness etc might be prudent.

TicketPlan Refund Protection states: “I can apply for a refund if I am unable to attend this event due to accidents, unexpected illnesses or specified unforeseen circumstances. By adding to my order I confirm that I have read and accepted TicketPlan’s terms and conditions.”

Think again.

Their "terms and conditions state;" We will not make a refund where: you cannot provide suitable supporting documentation, a doctor’s report for accident or illness or a death certificate where your refund request is for death;”

If, like us, you missed an event due to a minor illness- in our case, a stomach bug- you still have to evidence that is via a Doctors report.. We would need to have waited weeks for an appointment and then asked for a retrospective report on an illness the GP would in any event have had to take our word for. In any case, i wouldn't waste my GPs time just to satisfy such terms.

As you can see from their response ,there is no acknowledgement of such circumstances.

It has taken months of email exchanges to be refused a refund.

Don't waste your time or money with these ripoff merchants.

Do not use this company. It is a scam. They've refused to refund our application despite meeting the criteria they set out. They are a dishonourable company, and in my eyes fraudulent. We had our transport cancelled with no other alternative forms of transport. My wife is also registered disabled. They have refused to pay out. The hotel company and the rail company refunded our bookings without any questions asked, however, the one company we did take out protection with refused to refund us. As long as you have all evidence needed, such as proof of purchase of tickets, refund protection, reason not able to attend, it's straight forward. I didn't wait long for approval of refund.

This company is a scam, i had a visit to London booked for the 1st-2nd September to see Ariana Grande and Wicked in theatre. I couldn’t attend these events due to illness of the person i was travelling with was admitted to hospital on the 31st August so had to cancel both of these events and hotel. I cancelled Ariana Grande and received a payment in full by the 4th of September with sending two documents (the same i used for this company), I also canceled the hotel with just explaining the situation and had the money back the same day. The only problem here is with this company it’s been nearly three weeks and i’ve had countless back and forth emails asked for more and more evidence which i have sent, still no where close to receiving a payment for the tickets. As my friend is still in hospital it is extremely difficult to get documentation and as i have sent all that I believe should be needed, i believe a payment should have been made days or even weeks ago. This company is all about keeping your money and finding every little loophole to keep it. Also the people on the phones are no help at all and one was very rude and i felt like she couldn’t even be bothered doing her job.
