Generally good but a little pricey
I've been using Sytner Sheffield now for three years. I bought an approved used BMW from them and have had two services, an MOT, a recall and some warranty work done by them. The level of service once you arrive with them is good but it should be at their prices. They did put a drive train advisory on the MOT for my 6 year old 25k miles car. Talking to a German specialist, he was amazed they had noted it to me never mind included it as an advisory. However, now I know the car isn't absolutely A1 I'm going to have to get it done for peace of mind. One of their problems is that it used to be difficult to get hold of anyone in Service, it's now almost impossible.

Rude, Dismissive and Unprofessional
My experience with Sytner MINI Sheffield was unprofessional & disorganised from start to finish
I initially went into the dealership for a vehicle check. What should have been a very simple conversation became unnecessarily unpleasant due to the attitude of the member of staff dealing with me
Tyra was abrupt, rude and completely unable to conduct what should have been a basic customer conversation. At no point did I feel that she was trying to understand or resolve the situation. Instead, her communication became increasingly defensive and emotional, which was completely inappropriate in a customer facing role.
The manager then had a very clear opportunity to step in, listen to what had happened and resolve the situation professionally. Instead, I found him dismissive, insincere, and seemingly more interested in brushing the situation aside than actually listening. The whole thing was simply labelled a “misunderstanding”, which felt like an incredibly convenient way of avoiding any responsibility for how I had been treated.
I subsequently took the time to put my concerns in writing by email. I received absolutely no response, and still haven’t
That, perhaps more than anything, sums up the experience. I gave them an opportunity to address the situation properly and they chose not to.
People make mistakes. Conversations can go wrong. What matters is how a business handles it afterwards. In this case, there was no genuine attempt to listen, no meaningful apology and no follow up whatsoever.
Awful and embarrassing customer service from start to finish.

Waited 3 hours for no MOT to be carried out
When I booked in with the service department, I was told to arrive at 7.30am to ensure my car was one of the first to be dealt with. I only needed an MOT and washer repair. I waited in the reception area, initially enjoying my coffee. At 10.30am I asked about progress. I was told my car had not even been looked at. They said they were not told I was waiting on site for it. They estimated another 2 hours wait for the MOT to be completed. So I had to get my keys and leave as I had an afternoon hospital appointment. I was very upset, and it appeared that communication between all the different members of staff was poor - as they each blamed someone else for the problem.

Superstar service
Paul was kind, helpful and informative throughout our purchasing experience. Despite going to look at another car originally, Paul helped us to consider and look at other options which led us to taking home our dream car. He was really supportive and friendly on the test drive and in the showroom. On the day of collection I wasn’t available to pick up the car due to work but Paul made sure to send me a personalised video of the car ready for collection which still made the day special for me. Paul was outstanding and made the experience great.

TERRIBLE MINI DEALERSHIP I WON’T BE RETURNING!
I purchased my current M2 from BMW here last year and have continued using them for servicing both this car, my wife’s X7 and my daughters 1 series. The service department has generally been very good — they regularly ask for reviews and for that side of the business I would happily give 5 stars.
Unfortunately, the sales side of both MINI and BMW has been far from helpful or professional.
Sytner offered to value my wife’s X7 for a potential part exchange. I was given a valuation over the phone and told that someone would contact me shortly to discuss options. However, I never received any follow-up call or message.
We then visited the dealership to discuss part exchanging the X7 for a new Mini Cooper. After browsing the showroom for around 15 minutes without being approached, we had to knock on a glass office to ask someone to assist us. I explained my disappointment that BMW had not returned my call. The Mini salesperson apologised and said the departments are separate.
He was able to locate the Mini we were interested in, but could not find any record of the part exchange valuation that BMW had previously offered. Instead, we were given a lower figure. When I asked to speak to the person who had originally provided the valuation, I was told he was on annual leave.
Despite this, we still wanted the Mini and left with the promise of a call back within the hour to see what deal could be arranged. Several days later, we have still received no call or message.
To me, it feels like inflated prices are quoted over the phone simply to get customers through the door, only for the terms to change once you arrive. Had either salesperson simply followed up as promised whether or not a deal could be reached, this feedback could easily have been avoided.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend Sytner Sheffield BMW or Mini.
I’ve now made a deal with Stratstone who offered£500 more for the part ex and have access to the same car from mini snyway.
