Horrible, disgraceful customer service
I had an awful experience with Sony support. I called (+44 (0) 2073 652 810) to get help with my Sony WF-1000XM5 which are not working properly, and spoke to Max, who was audibly sighing at me throughout the call.
This kind of attitude is unacceptable. I will never use or support Sony again. I’m glad I got rid of my Sony A7R IV and switched to a medium format camera from Fuji — the difference in support is night and day. And I am throwing these headphones away as I will go for the Apple AirPods Pro 3 instead.
Sony’s customer service is truly dreadful.
Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphones
I purchased the Sony WH-1000XM5 Over-Ear True Wireless Headphones in April 2025 for £249. By June, just two months later, one of the ear cups had detached from the headband due to a broken hinge.
I contacted Sony customer support and was surprised to learn that this type of damage isn’t covered under warranty. Instead, I was advised to send the headphones to their repair centre in South Wales — at my own expense. That includes paying for postage, inspection, repair, and return delivery.
Frankly, I was shocked. After spending a significant amount on a premium product, being told I’d have to spend nearly the same again for a basic repair feels completely unreasonable. I handled the headphones with care and stored them as recommended, including in the large, awkward case they come with.
If you’re considering purchasing these headphones, be aware: they're fragile, and warranty support may not be as reassuring as you'd expect for a product in this price range.
SONY - how the mighty are fallen
Have bought many Sony products over the years based on perceived quality and reliability. My recent experience (and reading others on here) suggests that Sony don't care at all about quality (though they still want to charge premium prices).
WF-1000XM4 headphones are unusable after only 2 years but as I am just outside warranty period there is no route through (even though they are widely documented as having a battery issue). Sony make it impossible to contact them, they only provide an AI bot these days. Absolutely ridiculous and I will never buy Sony again.
And by the way, the sound quality of the headphones was mediocre and noise-cancelling feeble anyway.
I purchased a Sony camera from Amazon
I purchased a Sony camera from Amazon, having checked that Amazon were listed as a Sony cashback dealer. However, Sony refused to pay the cashback as some traders on Amazon were excluded. This was not stated on Sony's list of 'Eligible Retailers'. To see this one needed to read the small print in the Terms and Conditions!!!!!
Terrible service...again
Terrible service. I am a long time Canon user who has switched to Sony. I got myself an extended warranty on a high end Sony camera but Sony refused my claim as they say any physical defects on the camera are not eligible. Quoted £450 to replace a hinge on a battery door. Appalling.
Absolutely terrible customer service
Absolutely terrible customer service, promises and lies 👎
Shockingly terrible service, AVOID!
Wow, wish I’d read these reviews before ordering from Sony.
Really expected more from what I thought was a respected brand.
Ordered a TV direct from them, not delivered, truly the worst customer service. I am shocked at just how bad they are. It’s that bad I’m going to cancel and order another product. Simply avoid folks, vote with your custom.

Sony UK Has to be the worse Television…
Sony UK Has to be the worse Television sellers in the world. I had a Sony Bravia that I was having problems with and it was sent to a company to be fixed but the problem still hasn’t been fixed. I had to have reconstructive surgery and therapy afterwards and when I got home, I called SONY to tell them that the problem was still happening but was told that the warranty had run out 3 months ago. I told them about the issue not being fixed only to be told that my TV was out of warranty by 3 months. They were not interested that I still had the same problem and the warranty was expired by 3 months. I will never buy another TV from them ever again. Barry Brann
SONY TV cashback (legal action)
I bought A SONY TV for £1700 in April 2025. attached to the purchase was a £200 cash back offer from SONY. All good so far.
Then........
The Sony website would not accept the jpeg pictures they wanted. I tried 3 different computers, PC, PC and Apple. The SONY website would not receive the wanted jpg on any.
After 40 emails it was clear that Sony was trying to avoid paying me the £200 cash back.
They did agree that they could accept the jpegs via e mail, but they would not do so because they wanted their official website form to be used.
They asked for a video showing me typing into their web form.
This was obviously getting silly.
The only way to get SONY to act was to take action in the UK small claims court. I did this at a cost of £35.
SUDDENLY
Sony Customer support contacted me and said they would now process the claim. They pointed out that this was exceptional and not normal in any way.
They have now paid the £200.
The Moral of this story is not to trust that SONY will honour any promises/ contract without the customer applying legal sanctions.
Customers would be wise to allow a £35 excess in budget to allow for dealing with the legal aspect of SONY purchases.
Post Script. The TV is very good, but there are probably equivalent options from other more honourable companies.
If I could give 0 stars, I would
I was given a pair of ULT WEAR (WH-ULT900N) headphones as a gift at Christmas last year. Within four months, the plastic connecting the headphone cups to the band randomly broke off whilst my headphones were in their case, meaning the cup became totally detached on the left-hand side.
After looking to contact Sony about this, I could see that they had a 'free repair service' as this is a 'known fault' with the product.
After contacting them and being sent in circles, I was not offered this service as the serial number of my headphones was just out of the ones they were accepting to be repaired for some reason. Despite this being the exact same issue, I was denied any help. I asked to escalate the complaint, and had to go online through multiple forums outside of Sony to find a realistic contact to forward the issues I was having to. I was never called by anyone with any managerial responsibilities, despite requesting this multiple times over a number of weeks, and I spent 40 minutes trying to explain to someone from customer service what my issue was, which was extremely painful.
After being denied any support after emailing for weeks on end, and being told, despite the fault being known, and having an active warranty (AND this only happened a few months after using them), it was classed as 'physical damage' despite this issue happening whilst the headphones were simply sitting in their protective case. I glued the plastic as much as I could, and this surfaced for now; however, the EXACT same thing is now happening to the right side, and the plastic is crumbling and snapping in the same place, which will render the headphones more useless than they already are.
The product is insanely expensive for the terrible quality, but the worst part of the issue is that they have had to admit fault with their product, but denied any support despite this (which isn't a surprise, looking at the shocking reviews, mainly targetted towards the terrible customer service).
Bought a ZV1 23 months ago started…
Bought a ZV1 23 months ago started actually using it 6 months ago regularly and the other day i opened the battery door amd the tiny metal brack that secured the latch just pinged off without even touching it. I get that im out of warranty but ive hardly used it cost me a fair amount and pretty dissapointed that its a issue many have had if your thinking of buying on beware ill now have to send in to sony and pay probably half the ckst of the camera for an item that looks like it costs 50p not happy
Sony repaired my ear buds after the…
Sony repaired my ear buds after the left bud malfunctioned. The unit was out of guarantee, and providing l could demonstrate purchase, repaired the entire unit.
I was so pleased and grateful for a fantastic job. Sony communicated with me all along.Great job.

Ordered there most expensive tv and paid for it to be wall mounted, however they don't send me the bracket, I explicitly confirm I don't have installation equipment to the installation company nonetheless they send someone round, who you'd think would have the necessary equipment to wall mount it but they **don't**.
Phone service was not good to resolve this either.
My turntable broke after 3 months
My turntable broke after 3 months, been charged £70 for the repairs. Potentially further charges. The company have made it very difficult and very time consuming to sort this out it's still ongoing.
WH-1000XM4
I bought a pair of headphones about 10 months ago (WH1000XM4) And within 5 months, the hinge, that holds the ear-cups to your head, had broken. All I did was pick them up and the hinge actually fell off. I sent my headphones off to Sony in hopes that the warrantee would cover it, however, they sent me a very direct email, containing a bill of £113. Considering the circumstances, and that they were extremely well looked after headphones, this was a fault with the headphones themselves and not down to miss-use (which is what they described it as), despite the fact that there was no obvious wear and tear of the headphones. I am disgusted in Sony and I will never buy headphones from them again. To top it all off, they are requesting a 'refusal charge' of £21 if I dont pay the requested £113.
Absolutely disgusted, considering I paid £300 for the things in the first place!!!!
Sony,Its like combing your eyes with a Hedgehog.
Made an account to buy a PS5 and VR.
Nothing works, cant purchase anything.
Cant talk to anyone. I have adhd and Autism and just spent 2 days trying to delete an account that doesn't work. Did not want to buy an xbox because of Trump but Sony force me to buy from competitors. Never met a company that treats customers so bad, luckily i am no longer a customer........
Supply chain disaster! Can't give Sony money!!!
Imagine BMW launching an amazing new car, and inviting customers to buy it, but with the caveat: "We haven't got any wheels in at the moment!" Ludicrous! Yet, Sony is doing just that with the Sony ULT FIELD 7.
My birthday is this Friday, and for days, I have been wanting to purchase the Sony ULT FIELD 7 for a family and friends BBQ this Saturday. The karaoke and MC features were a huge draw for the speaker.
However, despite searching diligently, I cannot find the ULT Mic Kit (ULTMIC1) anywhere. It's unavailable at major UK retailers, including Sony UK, Amazon UK, John Lewis, Currys, and others. I even tried Amazon.com, willing to pay for expedited shipping from the USA, but it appears to be a global issue.
It's incredibly frustrating when a company makes it impossible for customers to give them money! This is an appalling business model! Sony could have had hundreds of pounds in business from me, plus the positive word-of-mouth from a happy Google Guide (Level 7/8). Instead, I'm now forced to consider alternatives like the JBL PartyBox Encore 2, which includes microphones and is readily available.
The ULT FIELD 7 is marketed as a premium party speaker, but without its dedicated wireless microphone, that core selling point is fundamentally undermined. Forcing customers to rely on generic third-party mics, which won't integrate seamlessly, is unacceptable for a high-end product. No doubt this has seriously dented Sony's sales potential.
I urge Sony to:
Restock the ULTMIC1 at UK retailers and on your official website immediately.
Provide clear timelines for its availability and expedited delivery.
Consider bundling the ULT FIELD 7 with the ULTMIC1.
Please confirm when the ULTMIC1 will be available in the UK. I want to choose Sony, but cannot justify purchasing the ULT FIELD 7 without its dedicated microphone solution.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Appalling post sale service
I am fortunate enough to have a family that can afford to spend a lot of money on an expensive set of WH-1000XM4 headphones. I have a hearing disability and these headphones are critical to my engagement without disturbing the pleasure of others. Over a month ago I contacted Sony UK to report a fault. I was given a Case ID. After several contacts and some trouble shooting failed, I was told “in order to be able to process the escalation in a timely manner, we would encourage yourself to wait for a reply from our side” A month later nothing. A cynical person would ask if this is Sony’s way of waiting out the remainder of the guarantee period? I am not that cynical however I still think it is disgusting that a global company such as this can condone customer deception in this way.
They closed LBP3 for good
I will never forgive them for closing down the LittleBigPlanet 3 servers for good in April 2024. You could've atleast fixed all the bugs on the servers (and in the game itself thanks to your tight deadline in 2014) to prevent hackers but you instead caused millions of levels to become almost permanently lost media. And then you delisted LBP3 and all it's DLC, when it was better left alone on the PlayStation store. I may be happier if the servers were brought back on PS4, but that sadly isn't possible (and the server mods are not available in PS4 yet). I pray and cross my fingers that a 4th game is announced this year or in 2026.
