I have now attended three different secret food tours. Miami, Bologna, and Lisbon. All had amazing guides and a wonderful history of food. With really great eating options as well. As a vegetarian I am grateful they name which tours can be accommodated ahead of time. Highly recommend around the world!

Good food, and good guide. Bad business practices though. The company sent a message day before tour to buy extra drink package. Wine already included in package. All items in the extra drink packages were not included. All members in the tour received wine, including one of our family members that did not buy the package. Company refused to refund. They told us we received the extra drinks. Absolutely not. Use another company with integrity. Not one out for a money grab from tourists.

I took the Chocolate Tasting Trip in Paris with Secret Food Tours in early July and it exceeded every expectation. The experience was rich in flavour, culture, and storytelling.

We started at a beautifully appointed local chocolatier, where I sampled truffles so rich they melted in your mouth. The artisanal taste is something you simply can't replicate at home.

Our guide was both warm and knowledgeable—walking us through each tasting with the right mix of technical insight (e.g. bean origin, cocoa percentages) and charming anecdotes about Parisian chocolate history.

Each stop included not only tasting but also small backstories—whether about traditional French chocolate-making or hidden gems only local Parisians know about.

The group was small, the walk between stops balanced well with tasting sessions, and there was never a rushed moment.


Highly recommend, especially if you’re a chocoholic with a taste for discovery.

My husband and I did the London SOHO food tour and it was a highlight of our trip! We had 5 stops with one bonus stop. We were able to try a wide variety of international cuisines and all the food was delicious. We were completely stuffed by the end of the tour! We did the drink upgrade and I would highly recommended that. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of historical and local context around the food we were trying and engaged in really interesting discussions with our group. The restaurants were also able to accommodate someone in our group with food allergies. Will definitely book another tour for our next trip!

I’ve done Secret Food Tours in Barcelona, Rome, Milan, Lisbon, and New York, and each one has been an absolute highlight of my travels. The guides are always passionate, knowledgeable, and fun — it feels like exploring the city with a local friend who knows all the hidden gems.

From sipping vermouth in Barcelona, to devouring perfect pasta in Rome, risotto in Milan, and pastel de nata in Lisbon — every tour has been a delicious and cultural deep dive. New York brought its own multicultural flavor, and I loved discovering the city's lesser-known foodie spots.

Secret Food Tours isn’t just about eating (though the food is amazing!) — it’s about storytelling, history, and genuine local connection. I’ll definitely be booking more tours in other cities — it’s now a must-do for me whenever I travel!

I spent the better part of an afternoon trying to book my group of 9 on a food tour in Madrid. Customer service means quick responses with "your issue, your fault, no we cannot help you with booking" so truly its not support. It was issues with credit cards and their lack of authentication protocol... in the end when I thought I'd worked it out they tried to tag on an additional 200 Euro..... I declined the payment and once again they blamed me.... DO NOT trust this company. Lots of communication but none of it constructive to me as the person who would pay for their service. They can't manage on line payments no idea if they'd show up for a food tour!!!

I was interviewed and trained to be a tour guide with Secret Food Tours in Nashville. I completed over 10 hours of unpaid training shifts, plus additional time memorizing the script and prepping for my “test” tour—which I passed. I was told I’d receive $100 for completing the process.

Then I received a contract that included full personal liability, vague arbitration clauses, and requirements for licensing and insurance—all without prior notice. When I asked for clarification, I was ignored. After following up several times, I was suddenly told the role had been “filled”—despite never getting a response to the questions I’d raised.

I was never paid. I was ghosted after doing everything they asked. And after being unemployed for months, it felt predatory.

The local trainers were wonderful—but the operations side was disorganized, dismissive, and deeply unprofessional.

If you're considering working with them, ask for the contract up front, get everything in writing, and protect your time. I didn’t—and I regret it.

They decided to cancel the tour 2 hours before — citing system glitche and pushed us to another tour at another location which is running .

Our family went on the Secret Food Tours of Chicago. It was a mediocre but expensive experience. We paid $89 per ticket, no drinks. This cost is within 20% of other food tour costs, so I thought "okay".. well the extra money was not worth it. Our first stop was Gino's East pizza.. not a very large slice of pizza, but still "okay" because Gino's is excellent pizza.. next stop was Fannie Mae Candies, where the clerk put out a small tray of foil wrapped chocolate, not any of their crafted candies, and said "We did not sell these at Thanksgiving, you are welcome to one and let me know if you want to buy anything from the case".. wow.. "not okay"..Next stop at Italian Village for an excellent roast beef sandwich and after that a very mediocre hot dog. I have been on food tours in Greenwich Village and Rekjavik Iceland. This one had an unenthuisastic guide, few stops.. the Fannie Mae was a major disappointment, and cost more than the others. I was not impressed. This company heard they could make money running food tours and that is what they do... that's my impression.
