Sandals needs new management
We visited Sandals Barbados in 11/24. Our family had a bad experience. They were overbooked and downgraded our rooms for several days. You would expect a refund for the difference but they would only give us a credit that had to be used at their shops. T-shirts are $50-70 at their shops so it was a wasted attempt at goodwill.
The resort rooms are very tired with stained furniture, cracked tile in bathrooms and moldy smells.
On the plus side the grounds are very nice. Many go to Sandals for the food but at this location there isn’t enough dining capacity so guest are left to wander the property searching for a place they can get something to eat. Only a couple restaurants take reservations and those are mostly all booked up for the week when you arrive on your first day.
The service in general is very poor with towel shortages and indifference being the attitude of most staff and managers. You can complain to management but it doesn’t change anything. We went days without fresh towels.
We won’t be booking any more trips to Sandals.
Poor service
Poor service , waiting hours for room to be ready sat in lobby, unhelpful staff. Would not recommend spending the money a lot nicer holidays out there for the money with better service ,better quality of food.
Booked a Club Level Room at Barbados…
Booked a Club Level Room at Barbados back in February. Due to arrive on the 20th November to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Received an email 6 days before travel advising that they couldn’t accommodate us. This is the worst customer service I have ever received. They do not deserve to be in business dealing with customers like that. This was a trip we have planned for years, luckily we have managed to get booked in at another hotel or we would have lost the full cost of our flights from the UK. We were offered a room at their hotel in St Vincent, however we booked Barbados as that is where my Wife particularly wants to go NOT another Island!!
Extremely Disappointed with Last-Minute Cancellation
I am extremely disappointed with Sandals for cancelling my booking with only 4 days' notice, despite having made the reservation 10 months ago. This trip was meant to celebrate my 30th wedding anniversary, it was meant to be a trip of a lifetime and we booked a suite and upgraded our experience due to the nature of our celebration . We received a call yesterday with just 4 days to go to advise us that Sandals had cancelled our booking. Sandals have offered us a voucher for the value of our holiday , that's good of them ! with 4 days notice we have no chance of booking anything other than a basic level of room at a location we did not want to choose.
This is the second time that Sandals have done this to me. I find their complete disregard for the impact of their actions to be very disheartening and they seem to advertise themselves as a luxury brand and do not even have the most basic level of customer service or decency. I hope they take steps to improve their booking process and customer service to prevent this from happening to others in the future. If you can not honour a booking for whatever reason you should be finding an alternative at the same level as that already purchased.
I suspect they over sold my room and then decided to cancel mine as it was booked so long ago I got a better deal.

I will never stay at a sandals resort ever again
Absolutely horrible service all around. We were told our room would be ready at 12:30pm it wasn’t we had to wait over two hours. We got the honeymoon package which was never in our room when we arrived. Then when they came with it the girl walked right into our room as my husband was changing… total lack of respect or privacy. Our bathroom door and safe in the room didn’t work. We went to complain they said they would move us to a new room. This room is smaller than the room we were in and is in the same building where on the first day here the elevator didn’t work. Then we booked excursions that were canceled due to rough waters we were never told till the time we were supposed to leave. Then were told all they could give us was a refund and they couldn’t get us on any other excursions. We went to make reservations for dinner when we arrived and they had none.
Terrible Customer Service
We have made several trips to Sandals and Beaches resorts over the last few years and have over 45 paid nights with the chain. However, this will now be our last due to the terrible (non-existent) customer service after traveling to Jamaica during Hurricane Beryl. While the staff at Royal Caribbean were absolutely great during the whole ordeal, Sandals customer support refuses to provide any assistance with the information/documentation necessary to file a claim with our insurance after the trip. After numerous phone calls, emails, and social media direct messages over the last few months, I’ve received no help from Sandals at all. Either no response at all or constant redirects to other contacts via email/voicemail that go unanswered as well. In one of the few actual responses, they’ve gone as far as to say “Well, you didn’t purchase the insurance through us, so we can’t help you”. Sandals has caused us to lose the reimbursement because they will simply not provide the information requested by the insurance (confirmation of costs, verifying that we were not provided any refunds, etc.). It’s mind boggling that they refused to help with this, it doesn’t cost Sandals a dime other than a few minutes of someone’s time to provide a statement that would satisfy the requirements of the insurance.
Bad location in Ocho Rios
Celebrated my 30th anniversary at the Ocho Rios location and it was God Awful!! The first room was dated, tv didn't work, no hot water and air condition leaked all over my luggage. There were cats everywhere and begging and starring at every restaurant while we were eating, it was disgusting!! I paid money for an upgrade room and had to fight off cats from entering my room. We had to call the front desk again because we had an ant infestation and begs in the pool. I called the front desk and complained at least 10 times of my stay and not once did the people offer me anything for ruining my anniversary. I would not recommend anyone I know to go there.
Lied about Ins. Refund Policy
We booked with a deposit ($98) and travel insurance ($248) through Tripmate. Due to unforseen circumstances we had to cancel 4 days later. They informed us that only the deposit was refundable and the travel insurance from Tripmate was NOT refundable. After contacting Tripmate, they informed me that the insurance IS FULLY REFUNDABLE up to 10 days after booking. In fact, Tripmate stated they do not even receive the money from Sandals for the travel insurance policy until after the 10 day grace period. Thank goodness for the Tripmate employee who assisted me!
Once again, I contacted Sandals and they stated to me that it was NOT refundable. I made another call that same day and was told the same thing, but after telling them what Tripmate stated - that customer service representative stated on a recorded line that it would be fully refunded within 7-10 days.
We received the $98 approximately 8 days later. When I called again to ask about the refund for the travel insuranced - once again the customer service representative stated the insurance was NOT refundable. I then told them the date and time of the recorded phone call & the representative found the recording and said it would be refunded, but would be another 7-10 days which was not acceptable to me. After talking to a manager, she contacted the accounting department and the $248 is being processed and refunded to our account. NOTE: The manager was sharp and rude regarding the refund and did not apologize for their error.
Bottom line, is that Sandals LIED about the insurance being NON-refundable and I had to contact Tripmate myself to find out the truth. So, are they just incompentent OR are they just keeping their customers money illegally out of greed?
This was going to be our first trip to Sandals & now it is safe to say we will NEVER book a trip to Sandals.

Standards slipping at Sandals
This was our 3rd holiday at a Sandals resort and sadly this was our worst experience. Whilst the resort was lovely unfortunately the experience was not. We had read that Sandals had laid off 200 people whilst on holiday and this was evident in the service we received e.g. staff seemed like new hires and annoyed by ordering food or drinks, the service extremely slow especially at ‘La Parisienne’. ‘Kimono’s‘ was closed for the full duration of our holiday and ‘Soy’ was closed for 2 days. Getting our room serviced regularly was also proving to be difficult, quite annoyingly we asked for 8 more hangers in our room within 1 hour of checking in, it took a further 4 calls for the hangers to arrive 2 days later.
We hope other guests have a better experience than we had. We talked to many new couples about Sandals and unfortunately my comment back to them is that Sandals standards are deteriorating given our past trips. I know they are in business to make money but when your experience is poor your reputation will suffer and so will your bookings.
The other thing that really winds me up about Sandals is the how they treat guests who do not have butler service as second-class citizens. There are clear signs that sun beds cannot be reserved before 07:00, but butlers are actively out at 06:00 reserving beds for their masters? Why have rules when they are not being followed by Sandals own staff. Despite Sandals policy that sun beds not being used by 10:00am can be used by any guest, I was actively told not to use an empty sun bed as it had a reserved wooden butlers plank on it (this was at 11:15 am)!!
There is a hurricane hitting Florida…
There is a hurricane hitting Florida tomorrow which is our travel day. Our only flight options take us through Miami. The state is declared a natural disaster zone and enforced a mandatory evacuation notice, so there is no way for us to travel tomorrow. Despite knowing this, Sandals has refused a refund. We truly do want to go, and we have been lifetime Sandals consumers - but they won’t budge on refunding our $4k despite our inability to get there! Unfortunately they’ve lost a customer for life. DO NOT book with Sandals!! The customer service in this tough situation has shown me who we are really dealing with. So unfortunate.

We left Sandals In Barbados. I must say the best 3 butlers I ever met were Shannkay, Bernard and DeAngelo. Please treat them with respect. Not everyone treats people with respect but please do. They are the best. They are my family now

Sandals Barbados , got to the airport and ohh dear was I to regret getting off that beautiful British airways . The service at the transfer was possibly the worst , not sure if Sandals invest in customer service as it absolutely next to -0 . We waited for more than 40 minutes fast forward we got to the reception and we had got the butler package lol what a worst of money. We wanted a treat for our anniversary and went all out that was a wrong decision .
Arrived at the famous Sandals,waited in a long queue then we got to the desk and was told to wait whilst they search to find the famous butler , another lady turned up who had both her hands in her pockets strolling and asked us to follow her we did as we was told followed . We got to a nicer room which had a sign butler elite , at this point no drink offered and the famous towel not offered . We walked in , another couple made a comment well butler nonsense we did not even get offered a drink and waiting forever .
We got sat down and got told a butler will be with us , we had a number of staff approach us asking us our surname about 5 times they could not pronounce it and kept asking us to repeat .
15 minutes later ohhh the famous butler came who seem to have been forced , she got us up and we followed her and she did her shocking explaining of the resort .
We got to the room honestly I could not wait for her to go she was so rude and no professional. Fast forward she left us with no Wi-Fi and we had to go to reception to be sorted this was 4 hours after we had arrived .
I am still at the resort I will review each day so I am fair but to be honest so far it is -0 from me considering how much you pay for this place.
WORST vacation ever
This was the WORST vacation I have ever taken. Anywhere. We went to check in and they did not provide us with an accessible room. We spent the first night up a hill without our luggage. We got our room the next day, but it wasn't till the following evening that the resort got us our luggage. We were literally assaulted by cleaning, butlers, spa staff and photographers daily trying to upsell everything!! The management was useless in addressing our concerns. They actually told us they would "escalate" the issue and contact us today after we arrived home (big surprise...they didn't). The "premium liquor" was a joke, you can find better bottom shelf anywhere in the US. They charged us for tours we never went on. They would not refund us for the night we didn't have a room. The locals actually call it "Scamdals" instead of Sandals because of how badly they rip people off. Go spend your hard earned money somewhere else. I plan to make it one of my goals to inform everyone I can on any platform I can not to make the same terrible mistake I did. I only hope I am not too late!
DO NOT GO TO SANDALS if:
You have any mobility issues (stairs everywhere, some rooms up to 57 because it is 3 levels straight up a cliff and stairs to any pool or bar)
You are LGBTQ+ (there are no "family" there and)
You are over 150# (even small humans did not fit on the shuttles)
You appreciate fine food or liquor ( you will find none there)
You cannot afford a butler room (the rest of the guests are trash and assumed to be stealing things)
St.Lucia is beautiful. Find another resort.
untrustworthy, terrible customer support
I have had several issues with Sandals regarding my recent trip to their La Toc resort in St Lucia.
We had a bunch of issues with our travel arrangements, we’ve asked Sandals for some relief with the situation but they keep telling us it’s because we booked our travel. I literally had their representative book it for us over the phone because he offered. I normally would have just booked the travel myself. This guy booked our flights did not include any baggage and booked us on an airline that didn’t allow carryon bags? We spent over 700 dollars just on our baggage fees at the airports. Crazy.
We also have had several unexplained charges to our credit cards on file. Some were pending charges for room holds, which I understood but there are several other large charges that I’ve been given no real explanation for. Also we had an excursion that was booked by them that was canceled and we have still yet to be refunded for even though we were told we would be.
When I’ve emailed Sandals and called they have been condescending and unhelpful and honestly just unprofessional in addressing this. The customer support ticket was just closed by them instead of helping resolve the issue.
The whole thing is a shame because the resort itself is nice, the staff there is great but the customer service by Sandals is atrocious and they appear to just be an untrustworthy company. I had booked another trip for 2026 that I unfortunately am going to cancel because I don’t feel that I can trust Sandals as a company and it’s just not worth it to go forward with.
We have been traveling with Sandals for 30 years
We have been traveling with Sandals for 0ver 30 years now. We have always told guests we meet about Sandals Loyalty Program. What we found in our Oct/Nov 2023 trip to Jamaica is that Sandals Loyalty only goes so far, They are Loyal until they have to Give Back. Once we reached the milestone of 70 days and earned a "free" week, they stop being loyal. We haven't taken our free week yet, but have earned it, now at 79 pd nights. You start over like someone who stumbled into the Loyalty office for the 1st time. We miss Butch, and the atmosphere he build for average blue collar workers. When he was alive and you visited one of his many resorts, he made the average couple feel like aristocrats. Now the Brand only wants to promote its new resorts to fools who do not know the history. Believe it or not there are many resorts on all the Caribbean Islands that do more than Sandals. We hope other guests get treated better. We talked 2 new couples into joing Loyalty Rewards on this trip. We wish everyone the best in their travels.
Sandals taking bookings for Grand Exuma…
Sandals taking bookings for Grand Exuma on July 30th then announce on July 31st they will be closing on August 15th for work to start to change to a beaches and all holidays cancelled. This was not decided overnight and would have taken many months in the planning/costing.I am assuming they still took bookings in the hope people will change resort and not take a refund hence another sale. I know they are in business to make money but when you treat customers as badly as this your reputation will suffer and so will your bookings.
This company absolutely misfired
This company absolutely misfired. My family and 3 other couples that I recruited to stay at the Bahamas Exuma location 3 months ago and paid in full just 3 days ago have just been notified that our trip has been canceled because the resort is being converted into a Beaches property. All customer service can tell me is they are sorry. There is no doubt in my mind that this has been planned for quite a while and very likely even before we signed up for the vacation. Proceed carefully with this company and be especially aware of some of their substandard resorts in Jamaica. We were going to book a vacation at their property in Curaçao but a good friend shared his experience that the customer service there was dreadful and the staff disinterested and rude. You can book with these clowns but make alternative plans in the event the company cancels your reservation at the 12th hour.
We stayed at the Sandals Royal Bohemian…
We stayed at the Sandals Royal Bohemian last week. The put us in the West Building that was full of mold and insects. During the 5 days that we were there at least four rooms were flooded from the rooms above. Some of the rooms had roaches and ants and smelled of pesticides. We were told that they didn't have any rooms available in the newer renovated section for us to move to. They said that they were aware of the problems in our building and had plans to renovate but the rooms were full of people, so they aren't going to be able to renovate until off season and then one floor at a time. In the meantime, they are still selling those rooms. The building is a safety and health hazard and should not be occupied in such poor condition. For the prices that they charge for the accommodations you expect to have the best rooms and the best service possible. The food in the French restaurant and Steak House was not good quality food. We could not get in touch with our concierge. I was very disappointed in the rooms, service, and food at this resort and would not recommend it.
