Very well organized. Great staff and service. The views were exceptional. Tom made our arrangement and followed up very diligently when there were issues.

We learned of Tom Ockelton & Rocky Mountain Holidays from watching a YouTube video a previous traveler had done. We contacted Tom and from that initial moment until we arrived home from our trip he was like having our own private concierge. He was of great assistance in planning our whole itinerary, making suggestions of what to do, what to avoid, what weather to expect, and how to make the very most of our dream trip. He listens attentively, is very responsive by email, phone, and text, and is cheerful & positive. The 2-day train excursion did not disappoint & there was breathtaking scenery, superb staff, and delicious & ample food & drinks. All hotels for our 9-day trip were very high end and gorgeous. The coach (bus) tours on many of the days hit all the highlights of the areas of Banff, Lake Louise and surrounding areas and we saw lots of wildlife (even the rare white grizzly). The trip was well structured with just the right amount of some free time as well. All in all, if this kind of a trip is on your bucket list, we HIGHLY recommend Rocky Mountain Holidays, and Tom Ockelton in particular!

Tom at Rocky Mountain Holidays did a wonderful job of helping me book a trip to Canada. He added an extra day for us so we could enjoy Vancouver since it was our first trip to Canada. Our trip was rescheduled due to covid but Tom was great in keeping me informed of the time frame and details once the train was up and running again. The train trip itself exceeded our expectations. The train was so comfortable and relaxing. The seats are heated and recline and are very nice and roomy. The staff, Kelly and Brendon were wonderful, the food was excellent, drinks were great. Scenery was amazing! This trip was on our "bucket list" and I highly recommend it. We were celebrating a milestone birthday and an anniversary and Tom with Rocky Mountain Holidays surprised is with a cake and champagne in our room. Such a nice compliment to an already wonderful trip. If you book this trip go direct to Rocky Mountain Holidays and deal with Tom.

Total train experience was awesome. Attendants took great care of us. Hotel Colorado was great. I have & will recommend this trip.

They have been nothing short of amazing, polite, professional & have gone above & beyond to help us with our travel insurance claim due to our trip being cancelled due to COVID. The Rocky Mountaineer trip was absolutely awesome. Right from booking with Tom at Rocky Mountain Holidays through to the actual train trip everything was exceptional in spite of the COVID pandemic and a year delay. Tom was always available via email or phone and answered any questions/ concerns professional and with empathy. I had looked forward to our Rocky Mountaineer trip with great expectations. We booked our trip through Rocky Mountain Holidays. With that we were on our way to an awesome experience. We found Rocky Mountain Holidays and Tom Ockelton to be absolutely first rate. We were inconvenienced by the COVID pandemic and had to delay our trip a full 12 months. During that time our concerns were always answered promptly with understanding and good advice. Finally our time arrived to board the Rocky Mountaineer Train. At the moment we boarded the train we realized that the experience was going to be absolutely top notch by the way the train staff treated us and made every effort to meet our needs and enhance the experience. Everything was beyond expectations. Our itinerary involved many arrangements with hotels, luggage handling and car rental and all went without a hitch. Kudos to Rocky Mountaineer and Rocky Mountain Holidays.

Under the circumstances, everything went smoothly. The weather was great (minus a downpour in Whistler). Some minor hiccups with staffing shortages at outside restaurants but overall everyone (guides and travel companions were courteous and worked very hard.

Despite the issues of covid with a year’s delay we had a truly outstanding trip for all six of us. Tom not only set it up well, but navigated us through the present restrictions and speed bumps to allow us to enjoy the beauty of the area and the classic train experience
I would recommend this opportunity to any of our friends.

I used RMH to book our trip on Rocky Mountaineer and found them (Tom Ockelton) to be extremely helpful. Questions and requests for help were answered quickly whether via email or phone. I would not consider booking a trip like this again without RMH. They were especially helpful navigating the issues with US to Canada travel which caused the rescheduling of our trip from 2020 to 2021.

Outstanding! This is a trip that is hard to match. Everything is meticulously planned - especially if Tom Ockelton is your travel advisor - and well coordinated. We chose Gold Leaf service and it was wonderful!! All of the train staff are warm, friendly and knowledgeable. Their only goal is to ensure you have a good time.
The Culinary Team is outstanding and prepares meals that are packed with flavor, beautifully presented. And, hot food is hot; cold food cold.
There are no words for the spectacular scenery! The Canadian Rockies can *only* be appreciated when experienced.

I'd rather say it was the beginning of a lifetime of vacations.
Starting with our initial phone contact with Tom Ockelton (ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS GUY) we knew this was the family vacation we wanted.
Never having done any vacation like this before - Tom was so helpful in the train tour options - providing all the details to help us make the best decision for us.
With Tom's guidance we chose the Gold Leaf from Jasper to Vancouver.
The beauty we experienced travelling through the Rockies - down to the beach at Vancouver still has the family gasping...

The train trip was almost indescribable. The level of attention, the friendly, helpful & fun staff united our car from strangers to friends. Hard to ask for more than that!!
Food, beverages, comfort, service - all top rate. Some of us had diet requirements - met expertly & deliciously at every meal & snack.
Don't want to spoil the surprise but the final hour of the train trip into Vancouver brought me to tears - so very Canadian hospitality.

We recommend this trip to all of our family & friends & hope everyone reading this review will "hop aboard" for the vacation of a lifetime. Genuinely worth every penny.

The Rocky Mountaineer was absolutely superb, the meals, the views, the commentary, the history, the comfort and the ride, the on board staff and of course our fellow travellers. This is truly a journey everyone should make the effort to experience, you will never regret it, we certainly didn’t. The Alaskan Cruise, Inside Passage, was more than what my wife and I had expected. The on board activities, the shopping (my wife's favourite past time, onshore as well) and the entertainment all made for a memorable cruise. Calling into the different ports in Alaska made for some fantastic photo opportunities, we enjoyed the White Pass and Yukon train excursion.

All the Fairmont Hotels we stayed at were steeped in amazing history particularly the Banff Hotel. They all acknowledged this trip was our 40th wedding anniversary holiday by having wine, chocolates and a card in our rooms congratulating us achieving this milestone. The Banff Hotel was easily our favourite with a close second being the Fairmont Jasper Lodge, our cabin had uninterrupted views of the lake.

The Rocky Mountain Holidays team organised a superb holiday for myself and my wife and some close friends who live in Canada. Coming from NZ we relied heavily on the RMH team for their advice and to make all the arrangements. The whole trip worked perfectly thanks to their organisation of the many people involved. On the advice of RMH we travelled by train to Jasper, then by bus to Lake Louise and a further bus trip to Banff. Everything went extremely well to make it a trip of a lifetime. Amazing scenery, friendly helpful people all along the way and superb accommodation. Big thanks to our agent, Tom, who did a superb job for us and made everything work so well together. Our first trip to Canada but I am sure it won’t be our last.

We had a great Rocky Mountain experience back in June. The overall itinerary you booked for us was almost 5 stars!
Our first adventure was at Sonora. This was a superb place to stay, most definitely 5 Star and we would go back there for a longer stay. The Rocky Mountaineer Gold service was 5 star for food, seating, friendly staff and a memorable journey. Accommodation at Lake Louise was superb. Banff was an unusual room with a very small window and the bed was small by normal standards and compared to the other Fairmont hotels. The stay at the Palliser was excellent. We enjoyed all the tours except the transfer tour from Banff to Calgary. The highlights were the Gondola but very limited time allowed there and the helicopter ride. So much time was wasted travelling around Banff, including a 2 hour lunch break in Banff. Remember, the day before we had a full free day in Banff so most of the guests had spent much time in and around Banff. We would have preferred to have arrived in Calgary earlier. For those guests ending their tour in Calgary, they had very little time to enjoy the City.
Finally your customer service, Tom, was top class and we would book again with you. Not sure how we would have a better holiday. Apart from revisiting Sonora, we would want to enjoy a different itinerary. Maybe you can come up with some ideas?

Rocky Mountain Holidays organized a trip for 5 of us on the Rocky Mountaineer in the Gold Leaf class of service. The trip could not have been better organized. After the 2-day trip on the train from Vancouver to Jasper we stayed in Fairmont Hotels in Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff. Thanks to what is clearly an excellent working relationship between Fairmont Hotels and Rocky Mountain Holidays, we received upgraded rooms in each location.

All 5 of us were totally satisfied with the superbly high level of service we received from Rocky Mountain Holidays and would not hesitate to use them again.

What can I say regards the scenery, Awesome, Fantastic, Stunning, words and photo's can never do justice to what you see.

As for the train, well we have never experienced anything like it. The whole experience is just so special from the moment you arrive at the station to the departure. The train itself is so comfortable.  I have a bad back and can't normally sit for too long in one position, but I had no problem at all whilst on this trip.
 
The staff were all fantastic, the level of attention to detail and the general friendly atmosphere they create is second to none. Everybody worked really hard and looked like they were enjoying every minute of it (That's the mark of true professionals).

As for Sonora, what to say about Sonora? Well as above pretty much sums it up. The place itself is just stunning, Wow.  We couldn't have been better looked after, they were so friendly, helpful and so efficient. 

We would like to thank everyone involved in our holiday, who went out of their way to make it a very special time for us. Special thanks go to the catering and restaurant staff who made special efforts to ensure that I had the specific diet I needed to cope with my allergies both at Sonora resort and on the Rocky Mountaineer.

We were so pleased and impressed to have great service like that. Brilliant.

As for our experience of Canada in general, we found it to be the most open and friendly country we have been to, and of course the scenery is just stunning, even in the city and around Vancouver (we are generally not city people but we enjoyed our time in Vancouver).

The whole experience overall was just fantastic. Would we recommend it to anyone else? Absolutely Yes, without hesitation.

We had a wonderful 2 days on the Rocky Mountaineer during our trip to Canada. Tom @ Rocky Mountain Holidays helped us get just the right trip for us and dealt with the booking once we had confirmed what we were looking for. We will be going back to Canada some day and wouldn’t hesitate to use Rocky Mountain Holidays again.
