My experience with REM Supreme Construction Ltd started very positively. Communication was excellent throughout the project, and initially I was impressed with their responsiveness and willingness to discuss the works.
However, once the project was nearing completion and I began carrying out detailed inspections, a number of significant issues became apparent. I had to inspect the work repeatedly and raise concerns on several occasions before certain items were revisited. Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts, the final quality of the work still fell short of my expectations for a project costing approximately £48,000.
The main issues I identified include:
Bathroom tile layout not matching the approved drawings that had been revised several times before the works started.
Numerous chipped and poorly finished cut tile edges.
Uneven tile alignment and inconsistent tile heights.
Hallway laminate flooring installed unevenly, with an incorrect transition to the bathroom causing movement and creaking when walked on.
Decoration requiring repeated repainting but still left with peeling paint and an unsatisfactory finish in places.
Poorly applied silicone around the hallway window.
In my opinion, these are not minor snagging items but significant workmanship issues. My main disappointment is not only the defects themselves but the contractor's response once they were raised. Whilst minor cosmetic items such as repainting or replacing silicone were offered, I was informed that the major issues would not be rectified because doing so would require dismantling and redoing the work.
I also requested that we reach a fair resolution, either by carrying out appropriate remedial works or agreeing suitable compensation to reflect the cost of rectifying the defects. Unfortunately, we have been unable to reach agreement, and the matter remains in dispute.
I hope we can still resolve the matter professionally, but based on my experience I can't recommend this company for high-value renovation projects where close attention to detail, adherence to approved drawings and premium-quality workmanship are expected.
