No explanation before deactivating my account upon trying to cash out

Here’s a polished version written specifically for a **public app review**—clear, honest, and firm without sounding hostile:

I’ve been using Receipt Jar for **over two years**, and I’m extremely disappointed. This is the **second time** I’ve tried to cash out, only to have my account **deactivated right at the moment I go to redeem my rewards**.

The first time, I lost **$75 in gift cards**, and now another **$25**. This time they claimed my account was deactivated for a “**cluttered background**,” even though I always follow their guidelines and use a **solid black background** when submitting receipts.

I use **several other receipt/rewards apps** and have **never had a single issue** with any of them. Receipt Jar is the only one where this keeps happening, and the lack of clear explanations or support responses makes it even more frustrating.

I truly enjoyed the app at first, but losing earned rewards twice is unacceptable. I hope the developers take this seriously and fix these issues, because right now, I cannot recommend this app.

Everything in this jar of receipts is spoiled and rotten

This app is a complete scam and unfair. I have been doing this app for the better part of four years now and in the past year or so, they start to manually review each of your receipts for redemption and subsequently, they take issue to your receipts, either suspend or deactivate your account, and now all your time and effort spent is gone with your data you gave them in their hand with no compensation. There is no warning and you don't learn about the issue until it's time to redeem. Meanwhile, I submit identical receipts to their competitor's apps as I do with this app with no issue whatsoever. If you try to fight it, you likely won't hear back from them either. It's just a scammy tactic to punish your users with no formal explanation on how to fix the issue moving forward and giving no built it app features to fix the issue before it even becomes a problem. For instance, one issue of mine was that I had duplicate receipts - I find that hard to believe. Meanwhile, their competitor's apps are sophisticated enough to filter our duplicate receipts you scan by accident for you so we can all be happy. But this app is terrible - the online receipt submittals are also buggy. Go give you data and business to a better app. Receipt Jar fell off.

Scam scam scam!! don’t waste your time with receipt jar. I scanned receipts for over a year and a half and accumulated $100 once I tried to redeem, they suspended my account! Don’t waste your time!

I was waiting on my $5 reward to be approved when I got an email telling me they were deactivating my account because I had "multiple accounts" which is bs. I have one account and one account only. I have had multiple times when I had to fight to get my reward in the past. While it only is $5 I still put in the time and effort to get my reward fairly and if I need to get lawyers involved I will.

While I like how the app rewards points…

While I like how the app rewards points better than fetch with the bonuses that you can get, I recently cashed out a $5 reward for PayPal and I got an email claiming that in order to receive my reward I needed more than 200 points on my account. What the heck? That wasn’t even mentioned in their policies. For that I can’t give it more than two stars.

Account Deactivated for no legitimate reason

After having this app and it taking me about a year to save up to get to a $50 reward, I was met with an email stating that my account was deactivated due to receipts that were flagged as fraudulent or non compliant. This is the most unethical app in rotation today. They are obviously broke and cannot afford to pay out the rewards. I asked for further clarification on how my receipts were fraud, and no response. This was the biggest waste of time and they are obviously collecting info for some reason with no intent to pay out.

When I went to cash in my points, after scanning for a year, they deactivated my account. They gave me a bunch of crap excuses, none of which were true. I emailed them 8 times to get it rectified, but they don’t respond back. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS APP, they are nothing but a bunch of scammers!

Scammers totally

I requested a cash out for my points but I was in the hospital for the past 2 weeks and I just received an email that since they didn’t hear from me I would lose my points. If I could give them a minus 5 points I would. Don’t believe the scam the company wasted my time and will waste your time as well. I guess I should have read the reviews on trust pilot before I even started disgusting and disgraceful company beware!!!!!!!

This site is a total scam!!!!! Please don’t waste your time with this site. They will let you cash out $5.00, but anything more they will deactivate your account. Tell you lies how you “broke the rules”, and keep all your points. They should be shutdown. Please report them to the Better Business Bureau. They will also steal your information. Receipt Jar is a Scam

Receipt Jar, owned by U Group & Co. Ltd., is a total scam! The platform lets you scan and submit receipts for coins. Yet, when redeeming them for a gift card, the user is notified that a follow-up audit of submitted receipts will be conducted to determine if "community guidelines have been met," before a redemption request is honored. Of course, a decision of user "misuse" is rendered, before one's account is suspended. So, you're better off using CoinOut, Fetch, Receipt Hog, and/or Receipt Pal.

OMG They closed my account for no reason!!

They closed my account for no reason. I had it for years, and now over 20 dollars in points are gone right before I was allowed to cash out!!!! This is so messed up, it's not right! I am struggling to afford life and this was one of the few things that made it easier. How could they be so heartless. These companies are evil yo.

WARNING TO USERS: They will STEAL from you.

WARNING TO USERS: They will flag and deactivate accounts that actually cash out. I just loss access to my account. They stole all of my points for not connecting a "supporting email"-- which is nonsense. I reached out to support upon randomly getting a deactivation email. This is what you can expect from a company like this:

Me: Hi there, It seems my account was mistakenly deactivated. I never received any kind of account related email about updating or verifying my email address, which contrary to what your email states, has been connected and synced on your app for many years. How can I regain access?

After reviewing your account, we found that it was deactivated on October 15, 2025, because a supported email wasn’t connected in time.

Regrettably, this also means that any points earned on the account have been forfeited, and the account can no longer be reactivated. We’re sorry for any frustration this may cause.

ReceiptJar is Scam Company Which Defrauds Its Users

Received the following email:

"Dear ReceiptJar Member,

As part of our ongoing review process, we’ve taken another look at your account activity. Unfortunately, we’ve found that certain submission patterns continue to fall outside of our platform guidelines.

Your account was flagged for one or more of the following:

Blurry/Unreadable receipts, Captured upside down

Refund Receipt

What This Means

As this isn’t the first time we’ve identified issues on your account, we’re unable to approve your current redemption request. As a result, your ReceiptJar account has been suspended.

What you can do:

If you believe this decision was made in error or would like to discuss it further, feel free to reply to this email. We’re happy to review your case and provide more clarity.

Thank you for your time with ReceiptJar and for being part of the community.

Best regards,

The ReceiptJar Team"

This was after cashing out points for a $20 Amazon gift card, which their email acknowledgment stated:

"Once your request has been submitted, we will review your receipts before issuing your reward. It can take 5-10 business days to process your redemption depending on your account score. "

Yet their own website states: "It takes around 5 business days to process redemption. During the 5 days, our team will review your account and check that the majority of your receipts are valid, and your referrals are legitimate."

The app has already scanned and approved all these receipts.

In a email from June 3 I told them:

"You need to check your app's coding.

It has been randomly rotating images taken of receipts for months!"

The first or second image for random receipts would be rotated from the upright position after the image was taken. There was nothing I could do to fix the issue as it was all due to the app.

They responded not by fixing the issue but the following reply:

"Hi Gregory,

Thank you for sharing this feedback.

If you encounter this camera issue again in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Support team so we can assist you and investigate the matter.

As mentioned, when uploading receipts, please ensure the images are clear and meet the following criteria:

Clear, upright, and well-lit
Placed on a plain background with no other receipts in the image
Showing all key details: store name, date/time, item names with their amounts, and the total

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.🙏️

They will not pay at redemption!!!

I have been using this app since 2023 with multiple $5 redemptions. This past redemption, I accumulated enough to redeem a $10 and $20 redemption, greater than my usual $5 redemptions I have taken in the past. Fair warning, they claimed my receipts were invalid and completely denied my redemption without crediting any "valid" receipts. A YEAR'S WORTH OF WORK! Nothing has changed in my receipt submissions. I suspect the company may have a policy where they must do a manual review for redemptions over $5. They take your data, then do not pay as promised. Their own help section or how-to will not explain this. False advertising, failing software, wasted time. They then had the audacity to remind me to continue submitting my receipts after they essentially stole my data and $30. I will be requesting my remaining $5, closing my account, and deleting the app. There are plenty of other receipt apps that I have used over the years that actually pay for receipts they approve. Don't dare request more than $5 at the end of the day OR just don't give them any more data. Poor business practices.
