Ponko is notorious for scamming people elegantly, they intentionally hide issues in the car especially the serious ones, once they get the money they will avoid any accountability and find ways to blame you and scam you. Don't be fooled by the niceness of the salesman.

Save your hard-earned money and avoid buying from these scammers.

Find it strange that my review a few years ago had been removed from here - although unsurprising as the red flags were there when I initially bought the car with them saying about a bad reviews just being ‘petty customers’. Also unsurprisingly Reed Auto has rebranded themselves to Ponko … probably because of the awful customer service / after care reviews they have received - although there is no rebranding they will ever do that gets them away from the same awful company they are.

Bought a mini countryman in Jan 2022, the initial interaction was extremely positive BUT if your car goes wrong Reed Auto/Ponko will make it extremely difficult and make you jump through hoops for them to do anything about it. It caused me so much distress that I could not deal with them anymore and fixed the car through mini (after months and months of bad and forth nonsense). Air conditioning unit never worked, they promised they would rectify this and this was never done, an engine fault that appeared the day after I owned it, they never repaired and in fact tried to blame a second mechanic because they were too lazy and not interested in repairing the car and didn’t want the car back. Same company, same ethos, please avoid and don’t fill their greedy pockets!

Collected my car today Haydn was very helpful and got everything sorted quickly and easily, will definitely return in the future

I am very happy with my recent experience of buying my first van, a Citroen Berlingo, from Ponko. The whole process from start to finish went smoothly and quickly, from initial query to test-drive to final purchase. Haydn kept me well-informed at every stage and was friendly, helpful and efficient and also very patient with me as I asked lots of questions. I would recommend Ponko to friends and family.

Ponko were superb from start to finish. Freddy handled the finance agreement perfectly, but what stood out for me the most was the unbeatable customer service delivered by Richard on front of house. His welcoming personality and comfortable conversation made the whole process easy. He is a credit to the company and irreplaceable.

Don't waste your time and money here. We put down a £500 deposit on a car nearly 2 weeks ago and been told today they have found another fault with car and it will not be ready for another few days.

We knew the deposit was non refundable, but waiting 2 weeks is completely unacceptable.

Looking at other reviews on here others were only charged £100 deposit.

If you find a fault with the car on a test drive, do yourself a favour and walk away, do not leave a deposit.

wouldn't recommend them if you don't know much about cars. bought a BMW 2017 1 series and a 1 year that i paid for end of march 2024, then found some issues with the car speaker, brakes and body work. took me a while to get an appointment to their after sales team, and when i went they identefied the problems( and refused to recognise the body work telling me that i bought the car this way, it means i agreed to its state like this " was told by chris" ) then asked me to come another day and leave the car so they can fix the issues. been trying to contact them for another 6 or 7 weeks to get an appointment and they were igonring my calls and emails, then finally got an appointment. left my car for the day! then got a phone call that they can't find any problem with the car. had to leave my work again and go help them to identify the problems ( already identified and recoginsed before) then asked me to come another day so they can fix it

their after sales team are very unprofessional and rude, lack of comunication and lies.

Poor. Only time will tell if the car I purchased is a good one or not. Seems OK at the moment.
Customer service was very poor. Communications and customer care was not good.
I suppose they are typical second hand car dealers - what else should I expect?

Bought my son's first car here, and travelled 450 miles to get it. On arrival the staff were very pleasant and after a short test drive we set off on the long drive home.

After about 15 minutes on the hottest day of May we realised the A/C wasn't working. With such a long journey ahead I decided to just carry on and have it regassed when we got home, rather than turn round and have a delay of a couple of hours. Then we reached the motorway and felt a strong vibration through the whole car. Turned off at Peterborough Kwik Fit and had all four wheels balanced. Back on the motorway and vibration still there.

Decided to carry on and let our trusted local garage look into it. This they did a few days later and reported that all 4 wheels were buckled. Ponko maintained the car had just been MoTd by them and that would have been spotted. I pointed out that MoT does not specifically test the 'true' of wheels, and that I was hardly likely to have all 4 balanced within 40 miles of leaving them if there wasn't a problem. So began a tedious back and fore negotiation which results in them making a contribution (after about week 3) of about the half the cost of the A/C regas and 4 new wheels. When we did replace the wheels (this is now week 5 since purchase) it turned the buckling had also ruined the tyres so I had to buy 4 new tyres as well. Didn't bother going back to Ponko re this as to get the contribution I had to agree to full and final settlement of my concerns re wheels and I knew they would wriggle out of the tyre cost.

All this time I had also been fighting another problem with them, which was the V5 they had was for the original registration but the previous keeper had put a cherished plate on the car, so DVLA had it listed under the new number. Salesperson who I won't name and shame here assured me at the time that it would remain taxed until the new V5 came through. Checking online however I noticed the car became untaxed after we bought it. So we now had a car which we couldn't drive safely due to the wheels, and couldn't even have sitting legally on the road as it was untaxed. And you can't tax it without a current V5. I understand we could have done all this at the time at the post office if the vendor (Ponko) and buyer fill the right form in together. Anyway, again after going back and fore a lot for about 4 weeks Ponko somehow managed to get it taxed without a V5. The correct V5 only arrived after 6 weeks.

So I wouldn't say avoid these guys, but be very very careful. Their prep of the cars is cosmetic rather than reliably mechanical and their after sales is hit and miss. If you know what you're doing, carry on as their prices are fair and you may well have a better experience than us. And have a long test drive on a variety of roads.

Fred was very professional, clear, efficient & friendly. Other staff I spoke to were equally good.

Very informative the entire way through the process of financing a car from Ponko via a 3rd party. Lovely & very polite staff and a lovely atmosphere on site. Car was first advertised with a few paintwork issues but all cleaned up & sorted before collection. Wonderful company and will go back in future next time I need a new car. Big thanks to Danny and the team for everything.

I would give zero stars if I could. Horrible dealership. Transmission blew 32 days after the car was sold to me and now it’s costing 4000 pounds to fix. The horrific warranty they sold me only pays for 1000 pounds and the company won’t help at all. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I guess the UK allows this crap to happen to consumers.

Not a good service or car wasn't even serviced , I waited 6 hrs at ponko office to receive a car not valeted nor serviced , start stop doesn't work car now developed more issues now im being ignored!!! See you in court ponko , plus my local news paper is now investigating.

Please avoid if do not want to have troubles with your car! I was advised to get a warranty with the car, that I did. The first point of the warranty book saying: "If a fault develops please stop stop driving the vehicle as you may cause further damage and this may invalidate any claim." Bear in mind, I am a full time employee and I have to commute every day and unfortunately do not have a replacement car waiting in my garage, I have to drive the car I bought with multiple malfunctions and even the sign "Engine Fault: Repair needed" for over three!!! months.
Their warranty is a joke and communication is very poor. I have no any other choice as only to apply to the Trading Standards.

Initial service for car purchase was good even if it did take quite a long time to complete.
However the after sale service has been lapse at the very least.
And i am happy with the car. However shortly after purchase I realised that the car did not have the full service history it was advertised with and the pre sale booklet was for a totally different car. Having notified Ponko of this issue by phone I was told it would be sorted and that someone would call back within a couple of days... 4 weeks later and despite several more calls to the company no one has bothered to return my calls.

A good company car as described and you get a free cup of coffee there’s no hassle 👍

Would have given more stars if it wasn't for a couple of things. Happy with the car I purchased. Unfortunately, I have to warn people to throughly check the contract. I found alot of hidden costs that wasn't asked if I wanted those services! All in all the total hidden costs accrued to almost £1000 in extras that wasn't explained if I wanted them or not. Then when I go and pick it up I was just expecting to pay the final amount but ended up paying more because once again they serviced the car without actually asking me if I wanted that service first.

SELLING BROKEN CARS WITH WARRANTY THAT ALSO COVERS NOTHING BECAUSE THE PERSON (CHRIS) WHO RUNS WARRANTY PROTECT IS ALSO PART OF PONKO CUSTOMER CARE! JOKE OF COMPANY.
HAD A £1300 BILL 1 MONTH AGO JUST HAD ANOTHER £4300 BILL.

We were looking for a new family car and had sourced the one we have now brought online with ponko. We arrived with an appointment to view on the Thursday and have now collected the car.
All of the process was very simple and there was no hard sale!
Hayden was our agent who explained everything in great detail. Customer service from Hayden and the team was absolutely 💯 fantastic.
Upon arrival for collection day I was greater by Richard who was completely attentive and straightaway offered a complementary drink. Fantastic customer service.
The car was brought round for test drive and after test drive all paperwork was promptly sorted with complete care and attention.
The office area is very relaxed with plenty of comfortable seats if you ever have to do any waiting!
So happy with our service today and all the communications had throughout the process.
Highly recommend this dealership.
