Upon arrival I was greeted by Asa, I knew what car I was interested in and asked to test drive the car. Within a few minutes, he had the car out front ready for a test drive, after the test drive I put down a deposit and started the buying process.

The finance agreement was simple enough, I gave Asa my details and he dealt with everything. There was a slight delay with the car being ready to collect due to the alloys, I was however made aware of this in good time and was able to collect the car a few days later.

The collection itself was very smooth, paperwork signed, keys collected and car taxed with no complications.

I was very impressed with the whole process, Asa was very friendly and answered any questions I had, and the customer service provided was excellent. I'd recommend this dealership to all my friends and family, a big thank you to Asa for making the whole experience straightforward!

It was my least stressful car purchase ever! No macho play acting just good service. After I said I did not want the extended warranty they did not bring it up again.

Very professional

We purchased a Fiat 500 today for our 17 year old daughter. The whole sales process was handled in a very efficient manner. Haydn Roberts was very professional, friendly and polite. He kept us upto date with the availability of the car for inspection and collection after some planned repairs. The car had a pre delivery inspection and as a result of that the Bluetooth unit was sent away for repair. Haydn kept in touch about this and we rearranged the date to visit to come and look at the car.

On arrival to the offices you are made very welcome. We were offered a coffee in the lovely clean and pleasant reception area. Haydn took us out for a test drive and answered all our questions. Nothing seemed too much. Having recently had a very bad experience we were delighted with the exceptional customer service that we received. I would definitely recommend Ponko and it was worth the two hour drive there and back! A special thank you to Haydn Roberts.

Ponko review

Our youngest daughter recently found she needed to upgrade her means of transport. The car she drove had been reliable enough, but was getting a little long in the tooth. Four years of trouble-free motoring was coming to an end, and she wanted a vehicle with a lot less miles and a great deal more refinement.

We started our quest by searching Autotrader and focusing upon cars for sale within 10 miles of our home address to save traipsing all over East Anglia. One local dealership had a lot of cars to choose from, which was a distinct advantage, yet admittedly, the name is unusual.

Ponko is a non-franchised car dealership on the main A10 at Foxton between Cambridge and Royston. Having so many cars in one place, enabled my daughter and I to evaluate most of those on her shortlist. One particular car caught her eye, it was a newer version of the car she was so used to, but with a fraction of the mileage and in a very clean condition.

We approached the very helpful and attentive salesman, Matt Melross, and asked if we could take the car out for that all-important test drive. The keys were quickly produced and we duly set out.

Matt drove the car for a few miles initially, in order to properly demonstrate it to us, and he was very thorough and conscientious. My daughter drove it next and it was gorgeously smooth and refined. Quite a leap from the old model. She fell in love with it immediately and all vestiges of lotalty to her old car dissipated in an instant. I drove it next and couldn't fault it.

The purchase and transfer of ownership was as easy as pie. Often these things can be fraught with difficulties, but not so with Ponko. They have a rapid turnover of stock, so are well-versed on procedure. The transactions are thus silky smooth, and I'm glad about that, because other potential buyers were desperate to secure the car my daughter had chosen, such is the popularity of the business. It's a veritable hive of activity.

On stock, given their sizable turnover, if Ponko haven't got the car you want, it's a fair bet they'll have one soon. I would recommend trying them first and foremost as prices are competitive and the quality is very commendable. If there's a car you particularly want, I feel sure they will try to get it for you. All cars come with a minimum of 6 months MOT, and are thoroughly checked for the purchaser's peace of mind.

So why should I be so inspired to write such a favourable review?

I have no connection whatsoever with Ponko, other than being a thoroughly satisfied customer who likes to see good service recognised and rewarded. I just wish others would follow that precept.

Please give them a try, and meanwhile, I'll give them 5 stars.

First contact had no response via website , first visit to the site we were told the car was available for viewing then after waiting for time told it wasn’t . Second visit to the site again told the car was available for viewing and that they had contacted us to say that . No contact at all and the car wasn’t actually ready for viewing at all and was being partly dissasembled. 3rd time hopefully lucky told car was good to go . Car was dirty not prepped and the test drive lasted about 5 mins , sales personnel were serving 2 customers at a time with not much interest . Promised a valet as compensation after we did purchase the car however on trying to book it they will only do midday during the week as convenience to them . As we both work this isn’t going to happen . Still waiting for the V5 so let’s see how that goes !! The car itself is a good car but the service and professionalism is severely lacking .

Very impressed with PONKO, recommended to us and what a recommendation it was. Was greeted by Salesman Matt when we arrived who took us into the car pound and allowed us to wander around and he came back out 15/20 mins later to see how we were doing. My daughter (who had just passed her driving test) came across a beautiful blue Vauxhall Adam which she eventually bought. Matt was INCREDIBLE so helpful and informative and an absolute pleasure to deal with and a real credit to PONKO.

Brought car on 30/3/2024, nothing but hassle, see previous review, 3 weeks later no V5, phoned DVLA, they hadn’t received anything, Called Ponko to be told “oh it must be at the DVLA being processed “ when I told them it wasn’t they suddenly found it. Why hadn’t they processed it on line on the day, also I received a phone call asking how the process went when buying the vehicle and what I thought of the my purchase, because I wasn’t happy I was told that it would be escalated to management and I would receive a call back, well I didn’t, it shows how incompetent this company is, my advise is, do not by any vehicle from this company

Could not fault the whole process one bit. Thank you so much for all the help and guidance you gave us.

It was a quick and easy purchase staff were very freindly and helpful explaining everything to us. I would definitely use this company again and would recommend to anyone thinking of buying a car. The delivery man was also very freindly. There communications were excellent.

Great service. Purchased a "63 plate Mondeo. On the day of collection everything went very smoothly. Haydn was extremely fiendly and helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble for him. The car was very clean inside and out and drives relly well. Very pleased to say the least.

Not Reliable
Got relocated to Royston and enquired about a car and like one but due to busy schedule I requested that I am coming on Monday , The salesman told me that you can hold car by paying 100 pound
I paid by card and told them to hold the car for me after couple of hours the same persons calls me and says we sold the and will refund your money

Unfortunately, my experience with Ponko started incredibly positive but appears to have ended poorly.

I called well in advance regarding the car I wanted to purchase and asked if there was anything to be aware of that wasn't in the pictures or description, they said no so I went ahead with the purchase AT FULL PRICE. It appears taking a car salesman at his word was a mistake, in hindsight it's so obvious.

Regretfully the car has numerous issues I wasn't made aware of before hand including ripped carpet in the back. (conveniently hidden under the only mat not missing), a chip in the windscreen and rusting bolts all over (the car is only 6 years old). There are also several rips in the leather which for the price I payed I do not believe to be acceptable. I only signed off on the car because I had been assured there was no hidden issues and thus only did a surface level inspection. I have since called twice being told I would be contacted asap however this has not materialised.

Seriously considering returning the car as much as I love it I feel as though I've been ripped off.

I will update the review if anything changes however as it stands I won't be going to this dealership again or recommending them to a friend.

*EDIT* - I have also still not received the 99 pound reservation deposit either.

After coming to Reed Autos for the last 12 years I was a bit sceptical about coming now that they were Ponka. I had nothing to worry about!! Customer service is still at the forefront of their business. From first enquiry to actually getting the job done, Adam, Glen and Chris have been amazing. Their customer service is second to none. There have been a few changes since I was last at the garage and the service department is now in a nice new building ( it does need finishing though as no coffee machine or fancy artwork 😉) but the service that you get is still excellent. Nothing is too much for them. I would highly recommend Ponko to anyone.

Hayden was the man, everything went smoothly and we had our new car within the time we wanted. The car was perfect for us and the service was better. Pleasant change from the normal world we seem to have these days!

Absolutely spot on, cannot complain one bit. Haydn was welcoming, quick and very informative. Arrived at 10am and was driving away within 45 minutes. Was welcomed with the option of a hot drink, sat down, greeted and handed the keys to my brand new Jaguar. Beautiful services, quick, efficient and friendly staff. Would 100% recommend a vehicle from this lovely company.
