Petplan Equine Omdömen 

I have left Petplan reviews before as they have always impressed me with their speed & efficiency of service, as well as their no-quibble payment of claims.
My last claim however, was sadly a horrendous one when my daughter's beautiful young mare broke her leg and had to be put to sleep. We were devastated, it was easily the worst thing that could happen to a besotted 13 year old girl. I knew my policy excluded euthanasia and disposal / cremation and I didn't expect much of my £500 emergency vet bill to be covered. It wasn't after the excess on the part they did cover, but they paid out our horse's value in full, the small part of the claim they could pay and refunded the overpayment on the policy within a week of the claim. The messages they sent were kind and understanding of our situation and yet again, I was blown away by how good this company is. I have four animals insured with Petplan at any one time and will always recommend them to others. Thank you Petplan for being there when it really mattered.

Quick, efficient and communicative, and always have been

Very reasonable price, hassle free straight forward claims paid direct to me. Once claim was accepted I always received payment with in 48hrs. Claims were handled quickly and a decision was always made within 72hrs as long as no other info was needed but the process of forwarding more information was straight forward.

Paid in full direct to my vet, very pleased. Won’t insure my horse anywhere else. Have other pets insured with Petplan also, along with my previous horse with Petplan equine - always been happy when having to submit any claims. Always efficient and easy.

PetPlan have paid for ongoing treatment very promptly. They let me know when a claim has been received and have mostly paid out in a matter of days.

My horse had turned 20, was now considered a veteran, I had conversations about the best cover for him with other horse owners and decided it was time to change it. I’d been with pet plan for about 10 years. My experience with other insurance companies wasn’t good so I had worked myself up and was prepared for transfer fees and being offered all sorts of extras when I phoned. I had none of that, they were brilliant, even backdated the lower premium to the start of the renewal year of my old policy. I had a little cry as was talking about my horse getting older and the agent was brilliant. I have claimed on my previous policy several years ago and they were good then. So refreshing this day and age.

I have had horse insurance with this company since July 2022 and I'm really shocked to say that they added a load of retrospective exclusions once I put a claim in! I had sent in my horses medical history in 2022 prior to getting a quote and again after I purchased the insurance. I then re-sent it again when I renewed, so they know her full history for over two years before I had to make a claim. Originally I made a formal complaint and they emailed back to say that they had made a mistake and had removed all the exclusions. Then when they paid a small amount towards the cost of the vets fees they then said the exclusions were back so they wouldn't pay any more. This seems really dishonest. So disappointed! I moved from my original insurers who were amazing, because pet plan was a few pennies a month cheaper. Going to cancel this and just save some money each month in my account instead. Complete rip off and horse insurance is such an expense when I can't trust them. I already did a review but they have removed it, so interested to see if this remains!

Can’t recommend them highly enough, Petplan have dealt with my claim for my new horse this year very promptly and with no quibbles, they were also very helpful last year with my previous horse who sadly passed away due to illness. I have unfortunately had to make several claims over the last few years and they have paid out every time, yes the policies are costly but so are vets bills!

Absolutely fantastic service. The Petplan team are always easy to get in touch with and are very supportive throughout the claims process. Thus far they have paid out on every claim I have made with them on a number of different policies. After completing the claim form and posting it to my vet, I was required to do nothing else at all and soon received an email advising that my claim had been paid. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Petplan were very fast at paying out my claim to the vets. Minimal input was required once the form was filled out and given to my vets. Despite the higher cost of Petplan, the service provided is worth it and ease of mind that the claim will be paid.

Would just like to give massive credit to Natalie - Customer Care Associate for what I consider going ‘above and beyond’ today after our telephone conversation. Very much appreciated.

Made a claim for the loss of my horse very sad time petplan was very considerate about the way they handled the claim was not pushy about what information I need they explained all that I was to do they made it easy for me at a very sad time I will be using them from now on thanks to all the staff at petplan

Have been very happy with my claim experience with Petplan Equine. Once I had started the claim process, the vet practice were able to take over and are paid direct so no upfront payments from me. Petplan keep me informed about what bills are presented and paid so I know what’s going on. The good service has made an unpleasant situation a little easier!

Petplan were absolutely wonderful.
The staff were always very helpful, they were all kind and upbeat. I found this quite reassuring, as the outcome for my poor horse was not good. But, they were all lovely, never pushed me through the call and I felt very supported. Petplan were very quick to pay out on the claims, they would liase with the vet and myself. The claim tracker was good as you can check to see the status of the claim, but at times it was slow to up date on there.
I highly recommend them, and I most definitely will use them in the future.

Very easy to make a claim. Made one phone call to inform them what was happening, and they guided me through the procedure. From there, they then dealt completely with the veterinary practice.

I'm currently mid claim, and so far so good. The invoice to date has been paid promptly, i asked for this to be paid directly to the vet. I have just submitted a continuation of the claim, and have confidence that this will be dealt with in the same manner. I feel that my vets also felt reassured when I told them who my insurance was with, and the vets are able to submit the claim directly with my consent.

Pet plan was referred by numerous friends and also compared over websites. Then called to speak to them.direct, and the lady who i spoke to was discussing every detail thurely, and with her own knowledge and experience. By far the best in my eyes, and covers more than other companies, who dont cover what pet plan offers. 5* and I would recommend them without a second thought.

On line quote simple easy , spoke to lady too so helpful , vets speak highly , only down fall excess high to keep premiums down!
