Made a simple mistake when I initially filled my documents about the date of purchase of the vehicle. Charged me 85 pounds which was 1.5 times my monthly insurance payment. Absolutely ridiculous punishment for an honest mistake, especially during covid when we all keep being told to be patient and supportive.

Yet another disgraceful insurance company. Oh and of course ended up paying 20 pounds to actually cancel my policy. The 1 star in this review is only for the CS staff that talked to me on the phone and were very understandable of the ridiculous situation.

This company where forever asking me to hand them paperwork and documents. I provided evidence of mileage for goodness sake. Then they claimed to have never received the email with evidence so they upped my monthly costs with an hours notice before policy was going to kick in- not just a few quid but nearly double what i was originally paying.
I spent over two hours on the phone trying to cancel in which they wanted £24.00 to cancel the policy that they messed up.
I went with them because covid hit and i needed to save money.... i really wish i hadnt used them

I took the policy out in October 2020. They have sent me an email twice with a list of things they want me to provide. Every time I give them what they need, they ask for more documents. I have wasted hours on this and I am truly regretting taking out insurance with this provider. Last year I was with Churchill and they did not waste my time like this. I was with Admiral prior to Churchill and they did not ask me stupid questions either. Churchill are having to go out of their way to accommodate the requests made from people's choice. Even Churchill find the requests bizarre!

Contacted them to cancel my auto renewal but they renewed anyway. No way to contact them other than by phone which was impossible to get through on. When I did get through they wanted £20 to cancel a policy I told them not to renew. Cheaper than others but full of disreputable practices.

Avoid this company they may be competitively priced but you get what you pay for. Their Customer Service staff are rude and unhelpful. They don't explain the claims process very well or what is going on when you call them (on my call with them this morning I was put on hold for 5 minutes wondering whether they were going to come back on the line) they don't appear to be listening to what you have to say and ,the height of rudeness, interrupt you whilst talking.
I have had to chase the progress for a non-fault claim from March'20. I have received no communication from PC since the initial incident, I have had to constantly chase the progress. I ended up having to chase the claim directly with the 3rd party insurer who advise me that their client had admitted liability and were waiting for Peoples Choice to progress the claim. When I then contacted Peoples Choice they had no clue what was happening, I was promised a call from my claims handler on Wednesday but that never materialise so I have had to chase them up again this morning. I have actually wonder what I am paying them for. A awful experience from the start, when my policy is renewed it won't be with Peoples Choice.

First, they decided to charge me extra for failing to declare a ‘notification’ (even though they asked for my ‘claims’, a totally different term.

Then they charged me an administration fee for not corresponding with them before the deadline, despite the fact that they sent a letter by post and it arrived after the deadline.

I put in a complaint on the basis that I didn’t own a time machine, and they agreed to waive the admin fee.

I then checked my bank balance, to find they charged me both fees.

I had to raise another complaint, and, after some time, received a cheque in the post refunding the admin fee: No explanation of why or how it happened, and certainly no apology for the additional time spent trying to put right Hasting’s own ineptitude.

Totally incompetent from start to finish - and that’s just getting the policy. Heaven forbid I should have to put in a claim...

Took out a policy on 04 Apr 2020 and STILL cannot access my documents, Im faced with a blank page when logging in.

Contacted customer services at hastings direct ( Which is the same company) and received a copy of my documents and was told they are aware of a problem on their website but still hasn't been fixed and its august now.

Wont use peopleschoice again, Hopefully i never have to claim as i would imagine it would be a nightmare.

I have contacted customer services four times now to try and gain access to my policy documents - at the moment, I can only see an expired policy. Each time I followed the advice/instruction I was given, and am still unable to see anything. Additionally, there was an attempt to send me my policy documents via post except someone forgot to actually put them in the envelope. Moreover, when I tried calling the number on their website, after selecting the relevant options, I was met with am automated "this number is not recognised" message. Cannot seem to get through online anymore either.

Tried complaining but conveniently the website page wouldn't load.

Would not recommened. I guess it's a classic case of you get what you pay for.

Extra money was taken out of my account almost double what was agreed for the first 2 months before I released. No one called or emailed me to make me aware of these changes they just took the money. Avoid this company

3rd year with this company cant fault. the staff i have spoken to are friendly the quotes have been competitive and when i notified them i found cheeper elsewhere they have matched the quote. nowhere else have i found a compulsary excess of only £45 with no voluntary so if i was to have to make a claim it would be affordable for me. when i changed my vehical yesterday only 1 month into new policy as bought a new car i was told how i can do it through portal as wasnt due to collect till aftercall centres closed and was simple with no unexpected charges.

Cancelled less than 10 hours after taking a policy out to start later in the month and charged £20. (Cancelled as realised the company was Hastings who I have had poor customer service from in the past) Avoid.. they charge for everything and are dreadful.

Absolutely appalling company no email to the phone call/agreement prior or no reminder call they cancelled my insurance just like that now left me with a bad name no insurers want to know I took this further and there absolutely useless do not use them!!

Perfectly fine. No problems with them whatsoever. Been with them 3 years already and no doubt I'll go on for a 4th as they always price match every year. No hidden charges, no demanding extra money. I find some of these reviews hard to believe, more like they lied on the forms and got found out. In 14 years of driving I've never had any insurance company phoning me up for more money and People's Choice are no different

bad company. steer clear. bank details not confirmed. hiding behind Hastings Direct. Didn,t know this until phoned up next day, no reply 2nd day phoned to cancel and was told would charge £20 for administration. was not set up with bank. no credit checks. just take deposit and supply documents. have found reputable firm now. who has verified everything properly. live on state pension so now will have to go without food next week as I had to pay another company deposit. still in cooling off period . 2days. stay away

Checked on Compare the market for my car insurance- got a better deal, with ironically the same company. Had to phone to cancel my insurance, the woman on the phone told me she could match the price I had been given. Then went on for ages going through all the same details. In short the call cost me £7.52. On their number 03333219788. My advice DON'T CALL this number. Try to get a Freephone number or just do it online and don't let them con you into calling them to cancel. Bad and costly service.

I wish I had seen this review before buying a policy with them. Total rip off, given you cheapest price on comparison website and trying to charge you as much as possible after that by having small little changes. Person over the phone is so pushy. Terrible company.

Had to cancel my Policy to due to selling my car due to having money difficulties and all they were bothered about was money!!
I offered them £10 pound a month for the £89 i supposedly owed which they refused and then threatened me with debt collection agency!!, there was a claim made due to my now ex partner crashing the car, then they put me on hold or so they thought and spoke about me clearly in English but then mostly in a foreign language to my disgust. customer service needs a kick for that

Disgusting company. We did a nearly 800 mile round trip for a funeral, so money was tight that month cancelled the policy with no help. Girl on the phone was arrogant and said: 'I've told you we cant help, dont know what you want me to say.' Thanks alot. Back to the big names for insurance I think.

Just like the reviewer below - never had any contact with this company (or even heard of them) yet I received a letter demanding payment for a policy I never initiated.

Don't even have a policy with them. Had letter after letter from them and made phone call after phone call and finally got a confirmation from their counter fraud team that we were victims of ghost brokering. Did it end... No! Still getting letters demanding payment for a policy they have acknowledged is fraudulent ....they seriously need to review their internal policies. Not a good experience and definitely wouldn't recommend.
