I know I’m not the only person who reached out to them about this and they’ve given no response to any of us. As far as I’m concerned— if there’s one known and public white supremacist at a publisher’s house table, then you’re looking at a table full of white supremacists. Patrick Tomlinson is the author and I sent screenshots of him flashing his book as a reason to call people the n-word and say he’s better than they are. Disgusting and shameful.

Pedí un set de libros el 28/12 y el 02/01 recibo una notificación de que está listo mi paquete para recoger, pues bien, voy y lo que me encuentro es que me han enviado el adorno que mandaban de regalo con las compras estas navidades, solito en una caja de cartón y de mis libros ni rastro. Uso el formulario de contacto de su web y la respuesta automática es que me contestarían a las 72hs máx pero espero esos días y nada. Ya cansada me dispongo a llamar a todos los teléfonos que encuentre y en uno de ellos consigo que me den un email que de MILAGRO me contestan. Me hacen esperar un día más alegando q lo van a consultar con la empresa de envío... para contestarme que no, es que no me lo habían enviado siquiera porque NO HABÍA STOCK y proceden con el reembolso que, OJO, me puede tardar hasta 14 días en llegar.
Primero que nada, es INACEPTABLE que una editorial que se las da de las grandes y mejores y bla bla bla no tenga un contacto de verdad, que funcione, que te contesten... una atención al cliente PÉSIMA, NEFASTA. Segundo, si yo no indago, insisto y encuentro como comunicarme con ellos qué? Me iban a estafar? Me dejaban sin mis libros y sin mi dinero?? Tercero, NI SIQUIERA me enviaron el libro y LES PARECIÓ BIEN enviarme la caja de cartón vacía? Solo con el adornito de navidad? Es que me toman el pelo... y por último, SI NO TENÉIS STOCK QUE NO APAREZCA DISPONIBLE, QUE NO ME DEJE PAGAR O CANCELADME EL ENVÍO. Enfadada es poco, JAMÁS volveré a comprar en esta empresa y por supuesto que correré la voz a amigos y familiares para que hagan lo mismo.

Just reading a 'clothbound classic' copy of Brothers Karamazov and all the printing is falling off the outside cover. I notice others with the same problem. I've never had an issue like this with a book before let alone an expensive hardback. I contacted Penguin and got the following reply...

Thank you for getting in touch with us regarding your copy of Brothers Karamazov.
The reason for the lifting of the design is that these books are printed using special tints and foils on cloth rather than the ink and paper we use for most books. The design is stamped using a metal block to make the impression on the cloth and creates a lovely tactile cover.
Whilst we acknowledge there may be some visual disappointment, this does not affect the quality of the contents of the book and would therefore not replace your copy.

Such a disappointing reply. Basically - "yes we acknowledge that the covers all fall off these books, but aren't they tactile and pretty before you touch them!" Avoid these books at all costs they are defectively produced and don't hold up to even light use. I have also been online and noticed a youtube video from another reader saying her books in this range are crumbling away also and she will not buy any more.

I can't begin to say how truly disappointed I am after reading Penguin Random House Classics version of Clarissa Or The History Of A Young Lady by Samuel Richardson and edited by the late Angus Ross. The book is an arrogant attempt to bring classic to the modern reader and short changes them. The book omitted letters and get around this attempts to add explanations which only leave the reader frustrated. The book is unclear and confusing. This was done in order to shorten the book, which should have been in the original 7-9 volumes as Richardson intended it. Even in the introduction Ross is unclear. To say that this was badly done in an understatement. Then there is Penguin Random House Classics version of The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer. In order to placate and pander because that is what this is. They chose to go along with the delicate sensibilities of not only readers of Georgette Heyer but her literary properties who after her death took control and expurgated and sanitized it against the author's wishes. This is systemic censorship. The private equity firm and the Mohn family especially Liz Mohn are responsible for encouraging this. Going back to Angus Ross the editor, when reading the introduction to Clarissa, Ross makes no attempt to clarify what he trying to say. Ge is as incomprehensible and hard to decipher as Richardson himself.

I live on a small island off the coast of a major city here in SE Asia and only go to the main island once a month or so.

I picked up a copy of Dostoyevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov. When I got home and opened the book I found that there’s an issue with the binding of the book and it’s slowly falling apart. I sent an email to you guys about it and heard nothing in response. I finished the book and just counted it as a loss.

A few months later I purchased a copy of “The confessions of saint Augustine. Another classic published by you guys. And yet again I come home to open it and begin reading it and it too is falling apart.

This is two books both from your publishing company both falling apart from the binding not being secured properly or something. I didn’t want a refund. I asked you to just send me another copy of The Brothers Karamazov in my first email because it’s a great book and I intended to re-read it. But you never responded to my email and here I am having purchased another book from your publishing company only for it to be falling apart again.

I think it would be the right thing for you to do to either refund me the two books or send me another copy please.

I’ll take my review back if you’re willing to do so.

Muy decepcionado con el servicio de atención al cliente de Penguin Random House. Llevo varios días intentando contactar con ellos a través de su formulario, Facebook y teléfono, sin recibir ninguna respuesta. Me ha llegado solo la mitad de un pedido (faltando uno de los dos libros que compré), y no he obtenido ninguna explicación ni solución.

Es inaceptable que una editorial de esta magnitud no tenga canales de atención efectivos para resolver incidencias. Su catálogo es excelente, sí, pero la gestión de pedidos y la atención al cliente son simplemente nefastas. Me siento completamente ignorado y engañado, como si hubiera perdido el dinero y el derecho a reclamar.

No volveré a comprar directamente en su tienda. La próxima vez optaré por plataformas más serias como Amazon, donde al menos el servicio postventa funciona. Además, estoy valorando iniciar una reclamación formal por los hechos. No recomiendo comprar directamente a través de ellos.

Realice una compra el dia 15 de junio. En 4872 horas tenia mi pedido. Reclamo y contestan que lo tengo en punto de recogida , figurando en su web en preparación. Si te he visto no me acuerdo. FRAUDE.

Non existent customer service. Contacted them because they sell a coloring book that can't be properly coloured. ZERO quality. Lost money.

Unreadable typeface in ‘Selected Works of Cicero’, just so disappointed as I really wanted to read this book. Its text is much smaller than newspaper font and many sections appear to be printed in distorted illegible italic. To illustrate my point, the original penguin edition from fifty years ago was 110 pages longer due to its normal-sized typeface compared to this recent printed edition. Furthermore, the ink seems fainter on some pages compared to others with text missing due to printer-skipping and inadequate ink. For the avoidance of doubt, all the other penguin copies in-store at Waterstones and elsewhere suffer from these printing defects. Like another user said, such cost cutting methods are compromising the reader experience.

Refuses to write a Little Golden Book about Trump in World Leaders Series but already has one each of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. I'm appaled and ashamed I ever spent money on these books for my child and students in my classroom. Never again. I'd give 0 stars if I could.

Dem Unternehmen darf man Skripte senden. Sofern diese nicht gefallen, soll man einfach einen bestimmten Zeitraum abwarten. Erfolgt keine Antwort gilt dies als Ablehnung. Dies war bei mir offenbar der Fall - was für mich auch völlig in Ordnung ist. Das sich ein Unternehmen jedoch nicht einmal die Mühe macht, zumindest einen einmalig generierten Standardtext per Knopfdruck zu versenden, zeugt von...siehe Überschrift.

He hecho con ellos un curso con su escuela, Cursiva. Que no deja de ser un montón de pdf, si tienes que enviar tarea, pero los pdf no te ayudan para entender lo que tienes que hacer en la tarea. Ni siguiera en el propio enunciado de la tarea refleja lo que tiene que hacer. Son casi 3 meses de leer cada semana pdf, porque además los van liberando cada semana, que si tiene info pero nada util para superar el curso. Además que te van pidiendo cosas que tiene un coste añadido para ti y no te informan antes de comprarlo. No recomiendo para nada los cursos de Cursiva, con el aval de Penguin Random House.

Nicht nur, daß das falsche Pronomen gesetzt war - zu seiner Moma. Auch wollte mir bei Random House trotz dutzendfacher Nachfrage niemand verraten, was eine Moma ist. Stattdessen zerrte mich der Chefjustitiar Reiner Dreesen - auch bekannt unter dem Namen Baron Münchhausen, weil er im Fall Thilo Sarrazin im Sommer 2018 gelogen hatte, daß sich der echte Baron dagegen wie ein Wahrheitsfanatiker ausnehmen durfte - vor den Kadi. Das Gericht verbot mir daraufhin, mich jemals wieder mit Random House und seinem Cheflügner Dreesen in Verbindung zu setzen, bei Androhung von € 250 000.- Geldstrafe oder Gefängnis. So verfährt Bertelsmann mit Leuten, die den Inhalt seiner fragwürdigen Lektüre nicht verstehen. Ich weiß bis heute nicht, was eine Moma sein soll!

Any publisher that gives Harry Windsor & Meghan Markle a 4 book deal is worthy of boycott in my opinion. I see they have terrible reviews on Trustpilot already.

they definitely have one of the largest inventory of books that you can find online at the moment. i love just browsing their website sometime and come across books that i have never heard of. you know, bestsellers, classics, specials, niches, uncharted territory, you name it. and I also started reading a lot ebooks which is far more comfortable than reading physical books turns out, and penguin is still my go to place to explore stuff and get some interesting reads
