Ofcom are totally useless

Ofcom are totally useless. When I asked them why mobile phone companies are allowed to increase charges by inflation PLUS 3.9% every year I got a load of gobbledegook about investment etc. If a company sets a price then I would expect them to have factored in costs for r&d and maintaining and improving and in any event not all mobile companies run networks they just pay to use them. Similarly with broadband. They all use BT infrastructure so what are they charging nearly 4% on top of inflation for?
This year O2 have said they will increase prices by 7.8% RPI plus 3.9%. That's a 12% hike even if you have a contract already. Absolute rip off and the so called regulator lets them get away with it.

Also the Competition and Marketing Authority does nothing even though all providers are clearly charging the same 3.9% proving there is no competition.

There isn't a single so called regulator in the UK that isn't in the pockets of the providers. A nd what's worse is that the likes of Ofcom are completely unaccountable.

Ofcom are a sham

Ofcom are a sham, they pretend to help the consumer but do very little.
When a contract ends, it should end, no 30 days notice! Mobile phone compaines are making tons of extra cash at our expense by continuing to charge the same amount after the contract ends and your phone is paid off, when you ask them to end the contract they bill you for an additional month.

As bad as the firms the regulate - ineffective

I wanted to complain to Ofcom about how ineffective their regulation enforcement is - where telcos and broadband providers:
- routinely leave existing customers on over-priced tariffs
- present labyrinthine contact centre menus that never get you to where you need to go
- are very hard to speak to, with lengthy hold queues which finally end with someone who is hard to understand and totally unempowered
- deal with bereavement with insensitivity
- fail to act upon what they promise to do
- fail to deal with nuisance callers and scammers
... all of which I have experienced many times, and I could go on. Trustpilot reviews of Telco/ISP services paint an appalling picture of dreadful service across the sector. Judging by the reviews of OfCom here, they must recruit staff from the Telcos they regulate and adopt all their worst practice.

What is the point of ofcom?????

I've tried to complain about something I've seen on TV many times....but everytime I hit the submit button, it says error.
Wrong email address..
It's the same email address I've been using for over ten years, but it's not working on ofcom complaints.
First time it was we don't recognize your postcode????
Then my address????
Or my mobile number!!!!!
Just couldn't make it up.

Total waste of time....forget this!!!!
I've sent a email to my MP and the minister in charge of culture and TV.

Utter nonsense ofcom.
Hold your head in shame.

Ofcom, What a joke

Ofcom continues to publish high performance data for ADR schemes, knowing full well they're not acting impartial and are in fact acting on behalf of the companies we are complaining about.
Just look at the reviews on here for Ofcom, CISAS, CEDR, TALK TALK

I would give minus stars if I could

I would give minus stars if I could. This company is a disgrace. They are biased, disorganised, unprofessional, ignorant. I had the misfortune of reporting my bank to them for the way accounts were hacked and the way the bank treated me during this time was appalling. I was totally let down by this pathetic organisation. In fact i am disgusted with them. Shame on them

Now totally useless

Now totally useless, they are MEANT to be regulator in UK for comms, ie telephone, broadband; some regulator TalkTalk for example are no longer "signed up to the ofcom scheme" so they cant deal with complaints. Useless waste of an organisation, obv those at the top have stakes in certain comms companies!

Another out of control body following…

Another out of control body following the 'agenda' - why bother complaining when they never uphold anything? Very sinister but to be expected with all these so called governing organisations, they are all following their own agenda and that is not in favour of the masses, only the trouble making race-baiters, they are the cause of it, not the problem-solvers

Yet another totally useless so-called Regulator

Yet another totally useless so-called "regulator"!

Today, I began the process of reporting EDF Energy for totally underhand sales practices in sending out multiple emails where a single touch of your touchscreen signs you up to a contract. No checks not confirmation: if you touch the screen in the wrong place, you've signed up for a 2 year contract. Totally despicable trickery.

I began the rounds of complaining to these so-called "regulators". Beginning with Trading Standards, who you can't call, but are redirected to Citizens Advice, and you won't get a follow up. Then the Energy Ombudsman, who won't accept an immediate complaint, but insist you give EDF Energy 8 weeks to continue their underhand practices before you can raise a complaint with the government organisation (so-called "regulator") that we're all funding through our taxes! Finally, onto Ofcom. Even getting hold of their phone number is made as difficult as possible.

One you do get through (on 0207 901 7295) you have 3 options. Option 1 sends you back to the Trading Standards divert to the Citizens Advice Bureau 🙄, while Option 3 plays a recorded message saying they're not really interested in hearing complaints from the public who pay the salaries of this chocolate fireguard of an organisation). Indeed, Ofcom is another complete waste of taxpayers' money.

Why are we taxpayers funding these totally useless so-called "regulator" who have no interest in protecting the public?!!!!!

Utterly Useless

Ofcom simply don't care.

My elderly and vulnerable mother was scammed by a company called Expert Telecom.

Her bank account was emptied and they repeatedly called and threatened her.

What did Ofcom do? They suggested my Mother try talking to the company that stole from her and threatened her!

No wonder phone scams are rife!

Unlicenced channel on FREEVIEW!

Why is OFCOM allowing an unlicenced TV channel (SNOW TV) to broadcast on channel 271 Channelbox on Freeview? OFCOM has confirmed in writing that this channel is unlicenced but continues to allow it to broadcast into 20 million homes. OFCOM has also said that there are other unlicenced channels broadcasting in the UK. What are these channels and why are they still on air? Our channel, SKI TV is a licenced channel with OFCOM (SNOW TV is an unlicensed competitor, but still remains on air) but the regulator is doing nothing about unlicensed national TV channels being allowed to broadcast. An investigation is underway, lets hope OFCOM get their act together in this matter.
