Ofcom is absolutely USELESS

Ofcom is absolutely USELESS. Why do they even exist? You can't respond to my complaint. You can't Investigate or force the company to do anything? So What Use are You? But then... why would Ofcom take action against companies that pay them fees to cover their operating costs.

OFCOM fall short... again

OFCOM have just introduced new rules designed to stop Telecom providers raising prices mid contract but their rules are neither retrospective for existing customers and offer little real protections when taking out new contracts. See MSE for more details. Honestly what's the point of this truly useless, toothless and spineless organisation?

They have just lost a High Court case…

They have just lost a High Court case against GB news ( Sir Jacob Rees - Mogg) from May 2023. Ofcom have to pay GB news costs.
This is a very significant failure by Ofcom and it's decision take GB news to court and attempt to stop free speech.

Too busy trying to stop people watching anything on TV that isn't the government narrative than helping actual people being ripped off by broadband and mobile phone companies. Another utterly corrupt propaganda wing of the Labour Government these useless eaters really ought to be sh*t.

Refusal to help

My vulnerable 89 year old mother-in-law pays for a landline and broadband with Vodafone that has stopped working. I tried to report this to Vodafone but they refused to do anything about it because I was not the account holder (in a similar situation last year, BT simply had an engineer check the line with a timely, professional, no fuss response). Vodafone turned it into a data protection issue - which it isn't because I'm providing information, I'll know if it works by a successful phone call to her, or an email from her.

So I phoned Ofcom, whose operative continually fobbed me off by saying pretty much what Vodafone said, saying that they need an account number to check a phone line. This is not the case (note: I have a degree in Communications Engineering). Or to say it's a data protection issue. This is not the case (note: I am my company's data protection officer). All in all a wholly useless exercise. There is no provision to help the vulnerable, except for a hideously offensive remark from the Ofcom woman that my mother-in-law should give someone power of attorney.

It doesn't seem to me that Ofcom is doing its duty. Certainly there's no duty of care for the vulnerable.

Ofcom sum up

Offcom sum up , Ofcom is like a repetative public enquiry going no where and doing nohing but repetative acknowledgement of their repetative failures . with out power to directly stop or intervene on mobile netwoks failures to cover All areas whilst taking billions from easy to supply areas . Not servicing the more difficult areas must be an enforced by trade law for all providers Shut them down and fine them if no compliace , far to much profit and no propely coverd services in far to many areas .

Waste of time if you have issues with…

Waste of time if you have issues with your broadband provider, don't bother. Just spoke to them after having issues with VM. They explained that they can do little to these broadband companies. So basically they are just garnish, in other words a complete waste of time.

mobile coverage option added to website

ia year ago I wrote a one star review asking for crowd sourcing data. Visit ofcom site to provide feedback of mobile coverage if your not getting signal promised. Well done - brilliant improvement. Just upgraded the score to reflect this.

Information on Ofcom site appears closer to reality so mobile coverage maps that are overly optimistic need looking at - why is their no app for testing actual signal strength and reporting back to Ofcom so real user experiences of areas for improvement can be identified and also fed back to the mobile providers so these maps can be updated. we already pay for these improvements as part of our mobile bill but have no way of feeding back crowdsourced data of where money needs spending

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless. This Tax Payers Government Department is not fit for purpose.

Most of the time they say they can't do anything or pass the buck.

In your policy you say make sure that tv is for a diverse audience. Have you seen Freeview lately that's government owned ie bbc. It's nothing but rubbish. You may aswell call it Simon Cowell Production And his Empire of steering tv to non educational, and is absolutely a Brain Dead programming. No History no epic movies. No educational programmes just auctions and the rest of the cheap to make rubbish. And Z listers made by itv continues for cheap programmes.
What a waste of tax payers MONEY DISBAND THIS GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENT MAKE IT A STAFF MEET TARGETS....NOT A DAY HOLIDAY PAID BY THE TAX PAYER!!

Contacted them multiple times about the malpractice and bully tactics of broadband companies. It doesn't look like they're interested at looking at this systemic industry wide problem where people are threatened with massive bills for swapping providers, lied to about contracts and hit with hidden charges.

Fake profiles on Facebook

There are a load of fake profiles on Facebook yet you are doing nothing about it. Use of commicating devices is a criminal offence and unless you do something about it I will have to go higher. I will now look into which department sits above OFCOM and raise a formal complaint.

Ofcom are useless and need to be shut down. Daily anti semetic coverage on BBC and the woke nonsense continues unabashed, Ofcom do nothing. You could not make it up

No reason for existence

I have no internet for more than 1 week. I called the company Cuckoo every day. I sent them emails. I cannot find any solution. I told them I will call ofcom and they said do it because they know there will be no action.
I called ofcom today and they told me to do what I already have done and after 8 weeks if I am still not satisfied to complain to ombudsma. So no action against a company that offers no service. Why do you exist? Why are you paid?
I know very well how objective ombudsman service is, I have tried again. They always support big companies and organisations and the customer/client/ student/parent is wrong.
Britain you have failed to your core. So much corruption everywhere.

Off-com ombudsman

These one star reviews do not reflect the total pointlessness of the ofcom process. I’ve applied to ofcom and the financial ombudsman. In both cases i was bullied by large firms. in both cases after wasting my time submitting evidence - the ombudsman just found the companies followed the procedures which they write -whereby bulling customers and taking additional payments from their bank accounts or freezing theircsetvices is all ok. Close the ombudsman down. it’s a waste of money, takes an age and responds in an archaic way with long tedious responses. just move to better suppliers and don’t waste your time.

Ofcom

Ofcom, It is the most us/less organization I have ever dealt with by a country mile. The staff don't know what they are doing. In my opinion, Ofcom acts against the public interest in its poor regulation of the post. I contacted them because I posted a parcel with Royal Mail worth £437, and they damaged/ruined it. I wanted to go to court only to be told you cannot take parcel companies to court because of Ofcom actions and a court ruling called tort. I rang Ofcom the staff member was u/less I knew more than him about the post service, THEY DO NOTHING!!. You only find this out after they screw up your stuff. I am out of the money after paying a premium for Special Delivery in good faith This is a dammed disgrace. I only gave 1 star because I could not give minus 10.

Less than 1 star!

Got robotic response to my two grievances about the vulgar trailer of changing ends. Alan Carr can be his usual foul and vulgar self in his programme, I don't have to watch it but I take a great deal of offence when he uses the word 'ar**' in the trailer during daytime hours when children are watching!! Ofcom have not responded nor have removed the trailer! I initially complained to the advertising standards who referred me to Ofcom, what a waste of time!

Completely useless and pointless…

Completely useless and pointless organisation. They can't be bothered handling individual cases. Talktalk provided me with a service that was down 80% of the day for a month I tried to cancel but was 1 day late and they forced me to stay for another month while they fixed it, they proceeded to do absolutely nothing, didn't even contact me. They almost destroyed my business as we can't function without it. And then after 2 months I was finally allowed by talktalk to leave, with my business almost in ruins. They have now passed me to a debt collection agency for the 2 months that they provided no broadband and the financial ruin of my business. Ofcom won't even lift a finger to help. The government are mostly to blame, they allow every company to just give your details to a debt collector who chase and mentally torment you until you pay, the government allows this and actively backs it. Scum and thieves the lot of them, they all need to be in jail for the things they do to people. Why is there zero fairness or honesty in this country!?
