Horrific, but years ago was a great resource. No longer. They also sold my email address to the worst spammers!

This is a scam. They take all your personal information and never call you back. Don't waste your time and definitely DON'T give your personal information away. They are selling your personal details.

May 21, 2023 Update in response to NOLO's response:
They never contacted me, they never resolved my issues, and they never put me in contact with an attorney. So I still continue to believe they are running a scam to collect individuals' information and sell it.

Martindale-Nolo should be sued for defrauding consumers. This organization clearly violates California's Consumer Protection Laws and there are clearly now thousands that can attest to that.

Nolo is targeting PAID keywords like "low cost lawyer" and "cheap lawyer" which I can provide screenshots of. However, the two lawyers I spoke with were $595 an hour (free consultation) and $375 for just the consultation. I have no idea in whose dictionary that would meet the criteria of "low cost lawyer." Maybe if you're in the 1%. These are misleading ads and lead both potential client and lawyer to waste their time. The reviews on Trustpilot say it all.

FL Lawyer here (in a very large metro area). As many others said, this is a total SCAM. I was with a lead generating service that was bought out by a 2nd company, and then by M-N several years ago. The first 2 iterations brought me cases; maybe 25% were viable leads, but the number of clients signing up brought in significantly more revenue than my investment, so I was happy. Once M-N purchased the company, lead quality, sign-rate, and customer service have gone downhill. I signed a very large case (not from M-N) that took all my time. I cancelled the campaign while litigating the other matter (and cases I signed up on my own) for 2 years, not only because I was busy but because none of the leads were viable so it became a waste of money. Once I closed the big one, I figured I would give M-N another shot. Salespeople told me everything had changed - when nothing has. Leads are not viable, slim-to-no credits are given, and appeals are denied. They sold me that they changed their vetting process, but I am getting leads from potential out of state clients (where I am not licensed to practice). I ask for a credit based on it being outside of my geographic area, and then the lead is denied saying they dont have to vet the location of the case. Ridiculous. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice......I feel like an idiot for actually believing they have changed their ways.

It is a scam! Lawyers do not use this service. Their “leads” are not true leads. You will end up with response like “how did you get this numer?” Or “I never asked for an attorney” if you ask someone at the company where their leads come from they will not tell you. Stay away!

I contacted the San Diego law offices of Antoinette Middleton when I had questions related to completing a living revocable trust using NOLO's Quicken WillMaker. Via short appointment, Ms. Middleton provided clear, thorough answers to each of my questions. She was extremely knowledgeable about the legal issues and skilled at translating legal terms into plain English! I now have a lawyer who I rely on for any future needs and highly recommend her to others.

Unhelpful and uninformed staff makes the process of working with Martindale a nightmare.

I called in regard to denied lead disputes. I was finally able to reach a junior account manager. This person was not able to solve my problem. You do not have a dedicated account manager with this company. There is no one accountable to making sure you are taken care of. He immediately became defensive and it was clear he would not take the money on my account and refund it to me. I was NOT asking for a refund for actual services rendered. I was asking for a refund for the amount of money left in my account that has not yet been spent.

9/10 leads through this company have disconnected phone numbers and vague nonsensical information in their form submission. This is very difficult to get a return on your investment if you are an attorney looking for probate leads.

I signed up for only probate leads. I disputed leads where there is no estate that needs to be administered. This should be simple and cut and dry but it has been a disaster.

Probate is a simple process to define. 10/15 disputes I put up were denied.
In each of these cases, there was no estate to administer yet the company denied my dispute.

Overall a disaster in every regard. Do not work with Martindale. Do not pay for these leads. Do not waste your time.

I called in and requested to speak to anyone who would be able to help me. At the bottom of this review response he said he would “like to reach out to me to make this better”.

I put in a request to speak to someone who could actually help. I was willing to schedule an appointment. No one had access to an account managers calendar- they said someone would reach out to me. I have not received an email, call, or text from anyone attempting to resolve my problem.

The only response I got was when I left a 1 star review on here and on yelp.

This tells you everything you need to know about this company. Great sales people to sell the service and kind responses to 1 star reviews.

ZERO customer service in between and a low quality product.

All I want is an account manager to schedule a call with me or at the very least reach out to solve my problem.

I'm more or less in agreement with the negative reviews about the pay for leads program, and the quality of the leads. This review is for a different experience.

I was motivated to post this experience here after my leads have stopped coming in despite there being a small balance remaining on my account.

I called the support line to fix the issue, and have since been emailing one of the customer success specialists about this issue for over a month to no avail. In the last few weeks, I have stopped receiving response altogether.

I gave them the option to either 1) refund the tiny remaining balance that I have, or 2) allow me to exhaust the remaining balance by turning the lead pipeline back on. I have received no response for either.

I ordered books months ago and still haven’t received my order I have called & now my bank making me lose 28.99 behind some books I have never gotten . Trying to reach out to them is FREAKING HORRIBLE DONT ORDER NOTHING FROM THESE FOLKS THERE ARE A RIP OFF .. shut this FREAKING website down !!

This service is a total scam.

The sales team told me that I could use True Scheduler to vet all of my leads. I asked them specifically is each lead had to go through the Scheduler in order for it to even be considered a lead and they told me it did.

Once I paid for the service I found out that True Scheduler is an optional service for the potential client to select and they never do. When I asked for a refund because of this they said I didn't qualify for one.

In addition, 99% of the leads that did come through all said that they did not actually submit their information to the site. When I brought all of this up to my account manager she just ghosted me. It has been 3 weeks since I have heard from her. I have over 10 emails unanswered in that time. The entire Pay Per Lead system is a scam from this company.

They never got back to me. Not sure they do anything but post legal stuff. They like laughing at our pain apparently. Why ask? Nolo is short for nolo contendere. No contest. Nolo, no. Yeah no good. Not helpful. Call an ambulance chaser from your local area.

AVOID this is worse than burning cash - WASTE of TIME - UNFAIR ...This is borderline worthless and possible mis represent - Martindale nolo begged for a lawyer of Davidson county - adn it cut its leads fee from $72 per by 33 % to about $47.. injury referrals .. promising 20 leads per month and numerous good cases.... after a week - 4 leads - NONE respond to ANY calls or texts - 2 persona later said they DID NOT ASK for a lawyer and one phone # finally verified - it was not her name or request - person also claims NUMEROUS phone calls from this .. I wonder if these are actual leads or if Nolo is taking other information I asked for a refund or lead CREDIT -- NOTHING offerd - NOLO Martindale REFUSES - they know this is a worthless trickery to take your $$ -- same company same problems it had a few years ago when ran as "internet marketing" - THEY REFUSE to REFUND my $742 PAID UP FRONT credit card fee... comments are my opinion adn based on my experience - BEWARE They know this is a bad service READ other REVIEWS over past year.

Take it from me, I have been paying NOLO for leads for YEARS. The people that work there KNOW how bad their leads are. They KNOW there is no benefit to the client but they are just trying to do their job and get paid themselves. I have been held hostage by NOLO, always promising "better leads next month" and never delivering. Offering better exposure if I "just pay a little more" for a featured profile or a highlight... but the leads never come. Back when filings were high YES, their leads were better but with people in my field of law not filing as many cases the leads just aren't there. But that doesn't drop the number of leads they charge me for each month. They just make up leads and charge me for them so you have to keep paying.

I've paid over $1200 for about 30 leads in a month. I called each and every lead FOUR TIMES. (and they say I'm not trying hard enough!!) Most of them never picked up and the ones who did said they never asked to speak with an attorney! From the $1200 I paid I got ONE person to set an appointment and they didn't even show up!!!

I'm done. I don't know where to turn for leads but I can't keep giving this company money and getting 1-2 clients from them every few months. I feel bad for the sales people, they know they are lying to clients but it's their job. I read reviews on Glassdoor and many of them are leaving the company.

Plaintiff in tort case against a large public entity, the Martindale-Nolo Legal Network deliberatly referred to a well-known public entity Defense firm. To be fair, lawyers listed with Martindale-Hubble often lie flagrantly about their services--most of them represent business defendants (rich) exclusively, never plaintiffs (poor), but they won't reveal that in public adverts because the truth makes them look bad.

Terrible. Submitted clear proof that the leads were not subscribed practices of law, and not in the county we subscribed to, and they won't credit your account. You can't cancel either, they keep your money. BEWARE.

I wish I read these reviews before paying foe leads. They send the leads to at least 5 different law firms. And they don’t tell you. The problem is that the big law firms have huge call centers to call leads. Solo attorneys cannot compete with that.

80% of leads have disconnected numbers. The other 20% that pick up either say “wrong number” or that they already have an attorney.

Biggest waste of money. Their customer service is horrible. Anything you say to them, they respond “prove it” like a child.

Our office tried Nolo.com for 5 months and found that most leads are evasive. The few that we were able to reach wanted immediate answers to legal questions without going through a consultation. In general, Nolo leads are looking for free legal advice to do it themselves. No client potential here.

Additionally, Nolo customer service is atrocious. You are never able to get someone at the time you need help and when they return your call, they are rude and want to get you off the phone. This happened every time, not just once. Indication of a sour work environment.
