Both the Australian $1 coin & 10c piece are as described. It is easy to see why the $1 coin, which commemorates 60 years of decimal currency, has been chosen as 'the coin of the year.' The design on the obverse side is busy but it is reminiscent of the era in which decimal currency was adopted. By contrast, the design on the 10c piece is simplistic & it heralds the future. It is a pity that the $1 coin did not come in a plastic capsule like the 10c piece.
