I have bought several vans from Motorhog and in my opinion they are not described correctly. Some have had no cluthes, 1 with the wrong gearbox fitted, 2 that have needed gearboxes, 2 with injectors gone so they are chuffing when i have collected. I could go on with the list. I have my own garage so these jobs can be rectified alot easier than the general public but still cost me alot of money. If i didnt have the garage i woudnt buy from Motorhog as i wouldnt be able to afford to fix them. I shall carry on buying from Motorhog with the hope they will employ someone to describe the vehicles as they should be described which includes a lenghtly testdrive! Helpfull staff though!

Trust and reliability matters in customer relations and thats what your company do not have. Based on the circumstances leading to my purchase and after, I will not trust your company again and will not recommend your company to a friend. I suspect dirty tricks and perhaps insider monitoring and perhaps involvement in pushing the final purchase price of your cars higher. I also noted that the quality of the car I bought was not as advertised on the site. The MOT that was give to me is a total fraud as the car has no brakes, the electrical leads to the doors were cut so that it can not wind down, the heating system in the car has been practically destroyed whilst the gear sustem remains a serious suspect. Infact the car was not right for the price I paid as it is almost a total wreck. I feel strongly that I have been robbed of my money. I am noe left with a car I can not drive and will loose my money if I put it up for sale

There was a serious lack of disclosure on the part of motorhog. The vehicle had so many issues that should have been disclosed but instead were kept secret. Issues such as doors that malfunction came to light on collection of the vehicle with evidence that they had entered via the passsenger side to drive the car to me but they insisted it was a new issue that had just occurred. Nevertheless, I have fixed my car at extra expense off course and will never buy a car from them again.

I have had the experience of trading with Motorhog at doncaster and always feel unappreciated as a customer. I always buy a car every week, if not every second week and as i do understand you have the rules of payments being received by wednesday, you sometimes forget to do so as you are constantly trying to juggle a business with customers coming in and out, stock and general running etc.

When you do forget to pay i receive a phonecall from the church lane depot from the same lady who always calls and far as i can remember she has always been abrupt and rude.

More recently (4 weeks ago) i purchased a Previa and received a call on Thursday and i answered the call she said (and these are the exact words)

Motorhog = hello, its motorhog, what are you doing with this car
Me= (at this stage i dont know if its a question or statement) which car ?
Motorhog = the car you bought last week...
Me = was it the Previa? i will buy a car this week and pay and collect this one on fri or sat
motorhog = it needed to be paid for yesterday
me = if you need payment i gave in a car last week can you check if the payment has been made on that and if so just deduct what i owe you
motorhog = i can check but your account will be suspended from today, what reg was it?
me = *56* *** (reg number)
motorhog = right, a good customer has paid yesterday, i will ask i we can take money from this account to pay for your car
me = if he is a good customer does that mean i am a bad customer?
motorhog = i didnt say that..
me = well you are saying he is good as he has paid and i must be bad as i havent, i have been your customer for a good year..
Motorhog = (interrupts me) i didnt say your a bad customer, its just what you are thinking about yourself

This conversation went on for another 5 minutes whether i was good or bad and which the last words were she will check with payments if she can transfer the payment over..

After the phonecall or even a hours later i could not understand the initial opening line " hello its motorhog, what are you doing with this car" Its not a question you can even ask someone out of the blue, I mean it could only be asked if =
1) i was talking to her prior to the phonecall and we had discussed the car then should could ask the question or
2) if i was next to the car holding a spanner and she walked upto me and then asked "what are you doing with this car" only then could i give her a proper answer.



overall the customer service is very very poor, especially the lady from church lane doncaster.



Come to think of it i did have another issue with the same branch in which i felt cheated and when i spoke to the guy in charge he had no leeway in favour of a customer and said "so what are you going to do about it?" like a school boy bully..

They way they respond to questions from the customers, they kind of asume customers know some of their policies.
They will tell you what you think before you say anything (kind of stereo typing )
The reason why someone will ask is not knowing, no matter how you might rate the question.
Public realtions is the key to any business (No public relations at all)

Will not recommend it to anyone

I HAVE PURCHASED QUITE A FEW CARS FROM MOTORHOG AND HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE AND HELP

Staff Friendly,don't have to wait hours to get through on phone,
helpful & pleasant to talk to

Car was advertised as taxed, tested and driveable - the battery was flat so car didn't drive; arrived without a tax disc. So additional expenditure not budgeted for.
On the plus side, full service history and car handbooks arrived with the car

Pleasure to deal with, which is why I continue to use them

If I had motorhog as a friend I would be friendless as I couldn't possibly have anything to do with anyone with ethics like theirs.

I have been dealing with Motorhog for the past 18 months or more and they have been quit helpful both physically and over the phone. I think their cars a fairly priced and Lorraine at the reception on regular occasions have been excellent with Amanda.

However, like every things I did have an issue with polo diesel which started alright but throttle was broken.. but it was quickly sorted.

My advice to anyone is always to go view (They also advice this) the car before bidding other than that you take a risk and bid... They lost the keys to the Focus I was to pick up which meant that I had to wait for about 2 hour before getting another keys cut They the lady at the counter did appologise nicely.. , with experience you know that buying from salvage yards .. you expect things to happen....


In all, yes, there are issues and I think they may need to re-think or reward their terms and conditions, taking into account that they could be better.....

Bought my first car from here for a very fair price, great runner proton satria 1.5 sport. Over the past 16 months have had 1 problem with the window mechanism which motorhog told me was faulty anyway, instead of buying a new mechanism from the proton dealer motorhog provided me with a full door cheaper.

In my opinion its reliable and I would always go back for any parts.

WON A CAR FROM THESE SCAMMERS FROM DONCASTER BRANCH, THEY DID NOT MENTION HALF OF THE THINGS WHICH NEEDED DOING LIKE THE SIDE AIRBAGS WHICH I COULD NOT SEE IN THE PICTURE CAUSE SOME SMART ASS CUT THEM BEFORE THEY TOOK PICTURES, WHEN I ARGUED THE ISSUE WITH THEM THE ARROGANT WOMEN SAID YOU SHOULD HAVE INSPECTED IT FIRST I TOLD HER I LIVE 150 MILES AWAY I CANT KEEP COMING TO INSPECT CARS INSTEAD YOU SHOULD BE MORE PRECISE IN YOUR DESCRIPTION AND PICTURES, GUESS WOT THEN SHE FLIPPING SUSPENDED MY ACCOUNT AND BARRED ME!! WHAT A JOKE FOR SPEAKING YOUR YOUR MIND..ALSO THEY BID ON THE CARS THEM SELFS TO BRING THE PRICE UP. THE GOOD FEED BACK ON THIS REVIEW PAGE IS DONE BY EMPLOYEES THEMSELFS. Bought a car from them, listed as start and drive, went there this morning, air bag light is on, service light is on, cars was smokes a lot, I drove for 2 mins and back to the yard, lady(blonde) on reception said they cant to anything, I cant gt money back or exchange car. Only she can help is to give a number for a recovery truck.

I went to fuel garage opposite the yard, lady there told me Im not the one, so many people especially from South had same problems.

I took a risk and drove a car to London(if you saw smoky clio on A1M today that was me) i took a car straight to my mechanic, he checked engine and find out that Turbo was Blown. I checked online new turbo will cost around £450. Tracking is out £40, 2 new from tyres and s on.I dont know how much will cost to fix airbag.

Yes you advice people to view cars on friday, but atleast on you advert you can put things like airbag light is on and car needs service, tracking is out, suspension broke, turbo blown , tyres are on limit etc.So that i can decide to bid or not.

No idea what 'Anton the employed by motorhog immigrant' is talking about???... I bought a pickup from the Doncaster branch. It was a different vehicle to the one i won at auction (obviously they took pictures of a similar cleaner truck). Also was listed as starts, runs, drives... well it did do that but the big ends were gone. To cut a long story straight they are a micky mouse run outfit that operate like a load of thugish teenagers and i ended up at a complete loss. Do not ignore these reviews as they are all too alike to be incorrect. ANYONE THINKING OF BUYING FROM THEM SHOULD BE VERY VERY CAUTIOUS

People who wrote '1 star' reviews, ARE YOU NUTS!? Motorhog is a salvage auction and not a main dealer. I buy cars regularly from them and ALWAYS check before bidding. Their T&C say that the car is drivable if it moves 3 feet front and back, so what else do you want??? I don't work for them and there are some things I don't like about them either and I did hear they bid on their own cars (which I personally haven't seen) but IT IS ONLY AN AUCTION!!! Yes, most of the staff could be more friendly. As for cars, just don't don't bid if you don't like they way they look or run. If you cannot check them before bidding, then either risk or do not just bid but don't moan that they sold you a bad car.

I Have been dealing with Motorhog for about 18 months, I have never had any problems at all in that time and i must have bought over 20 cars.

The thing you need to do when you are interested in a car on auction is to go and view it.

You can have the keys, start it up check it goes into gear which is more than you can do at the local car auction.

I am fortunate as i live within 10 miles of Motorhog, and i do understand that people have come a long way to collect a car and have been disapointed, the thing to do is if your not sure DONT BID!


As for the SHILL bidding well its hard to prove, but it also happens on many other internet auction sites.


The parts dept is well stocked but the staff often dont seem interested and it sometime seems a task for them to go and check on a part, its all to easy to send an e mail back after you enquire about a part saying "NO PARTS AVAILABLE" ive had this when ive seen the parts that very day.

All in all i find Motorhog a good company to deal with i have done for the last 30 years going back to when Mr. M. set up Doncaster Motor Spares in Toll Bar.

I would like to state that I do not have any connection with Motorhog in any way apart from being a customer, i have never worked for them or anyone else in the car industry,

I've also used these guys a few times for parts, they are far from helpful, the staff at the parts counter put you under high pressure to buy from them even though they are usually more expensive and always make prices up on the spot then make you wait while they remove it from a vehicle. I've now stopped using them because the gave me a wrong part on one occasion and a faulty part on another occasion, both times they wouldn't give me a refund! Claiming they test all parts etc and somehow my mechanic (ex BMW technician) fitted the items incorrectly. When I tried to complain the thugs (yes THUGS) or goons might be a better description get very aggressive and just start arguing.

I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. Reading the other reviews here, it's clear these guys are happy to take your cash but are not interested when things don't go as planned.

Seriously, avoid... Unless you like a good heated argument with the sorts of people that run scrap yards.

There are plenty of good scrap yards around the UK. I'd recommend looking at EBay breakers, this is now where I buy parts and you have PayPal protection should you need it.

Also, I'd like to point out how suspicious it is that the positive reviews seem so defensive, one can assume their workforce is well aware of these genuine negative reports, instead of addressing them with fake items on here, they should reach out and look into each of these reports individually, then I'd happily give them 5 stars.

I have used Motorhog at church lane many times over the last couple of years and have had great service, If you have realistic expectations based on the price you will not be disapointed. the staff are always freindly and helpful, and cope extremeliy well under the presssure they seem to be under.
