Bought the black granite. Very similar experience to the other negative reviews. Scratches very easily. Used CIF cleaner and the buffing pads supplied but the finish is dull and not the satin sheen promised. Cost a fortune. Avoid!

My three-yr old ice white Minerva worktop is rotting away! The edges have deteriorated- especially by the dishwashers door. There are eroded chips all along the edge. So terribly disappointing as it was expensive and I paid a specialist fitter a lot to put it in. Just don’t know what to do.

I agree with all the other bad reviews We bought the Black Granite finish so knew it might scratch but not as easily as this. One wee breadcrumb under the wipe cloth and SCRATCH. Should be withdrawn. The finish too: dull; even after treating as directed. So disappointed This is the one and only reviiew I've ever written but I felt I had to... If you already have it, look through the bad reviews to find the one recommending car wax - good idea...

This is a review from a housewife who cares for items in her home . Minerva is lovely to touch and look at but I’m afraid that’s where the positive ends . I have followed instructions and advice to the letter , there are only 2 of us in the household bit already there are scuffs and surface scratches which are not disappearing . Spent many thousands on them . DO NOT BUY

Immediately on seeing it I had to have the Minerva Calcutta. It looks fabulous, but it stains really easily with tea. Bar Keepers Friend is my best friend, its the only thing apart from bleach that will remove tea stains.
With two teenage sons my kitchen is busy and Minerva doesn't stand up well to their heavy handedness I am regularly sanding out chips and iv noticed that where it has been cut around a recess there is the start of a very fine crack. It was only installed last year, I cant see this lasting as long as my previous Formica worktops.

I had never seen minerva before so took a total leap of faith as I absolutely loved the look of it....and well i absolutely love it! It feels cold like an actual stone worktop it looks amazing so far nothing stains it...I have had curry sauce, tea, wine, saffron ...nothing has stained altho sometimes a magic sponge is needed. I had a few people try and put me off but what I found is was because they didn't know it and didn't know how to work with it. It was a pain trying to find someone to fit it for that reason when actually its super easy to cut and glue and sand!! So don't be put off. Nothing is perfect so the only downside is that like any solid material it can chip so I would say goodbye to a marble chopping block etc as if you are not careful you can catch an edge and the marble will win....I did this and simply sanded it out with repair kit.

I absolutely love it and wanted to leave a great review....amazing high end finish at a more realistic price

We've had our Minerva worktops for 3 years. They take a bit of looking after and need to be cleaned thoroughly before applying Counter spray to bring out the shine, as any greasy bits will show through. I don't really have time to do this as regularly as it really requires. They have tiny surface scratches but not really noticeable, but they do chip and that's not easy to fix. So, with regular care they are fine and they are a mid-price solution for worktops. I guess they last better than a laminate, but time will tell.

I have a brown Minerva worktop with cream speckles. It scratches very easily but they disappear over time or if I use some cream cleaner on it. It is very dull and shows every mark including water marks. It doesn't stain and is hardwearing. On the whole it is acceptable but I would not buy it again.

Plain white worktop, looks great. but is heavy, very expensive and stains too easily i.e. all the time. Every stain has to be bleached out quickly. This is hopeless in a busy kitchen. Have fitted neutral coloured neoprene sheets over most of it. Product should be withdrawn from the market.

I supply and install premium kitchens and the Minerva worktops caught my eye as they look like a great product and very easy to install however......
Just done a stain test on a scrap and it has failed miserably.
I left some red wine on it for a short while and it has soaked right into the material.
I've tried all types of cleaners and its having none of it.
There is no way I could recommend this product.

After having my minerva worktop it scratched the very day it was put in, having complained numerous times I was told the work top needed to build up a patenia and would buff out, why would anyone want to keep buffing the worktop after every scratch , I mean this worktop scratches even by a plate being placed on the worktop , it isn't fit for purpose and I would not touch with a barge pole , the worktop shouldn't look like this after 10 years let alone 3 months

I was sorely tempted to give one star but on reflection, I thought this wouldn't be fair. After all, the worktop looks lovely as long as you are super, super careful with it.

We purchased our Minerva worktop at Homebase, without checking reviews first (this was a mistake). The worktop had a 3 week lead time on it, and it came on time, delivered by two nice guys. No problems there. Only THEN, did we check the reviews on here (grimace emoji). Anyway, it was ordered customised to fit, so we couldn't return, so we went ahead, with the promise to ourselves that we would be vigilant with stains, hot pans etc and try our best to keep it looking good.
We had several offcuts remaining, so I put a piece out and carried out some highly scientific tests :D. I put on a massive dollop of ketchup, a steaming hot teabag leaking tea juice, BBQ sauce, and some food colouring. I then added a boiling hot pan straight from the stove top. I then left for 24 hours, and the next day, wiped over with a soapy cloth. Not a single stain remained except for the blue food colouring (to be expected open any light coloured material really). The hot pan didn't leave a mark. I then deliberately scratched the piece all over with various metal pans. At first glance, I couldn't see any grazes or scratches, but viewed from an angle, they were very much there.

Fast forward 6 weeks, after careful wiping up of spillages (just in case), using trivets to rest hot pans on (just in case), and being very aware of how we were treating the Minerva, we realised that bit by bit, the worktop was getting stains, grazes, scratches and marks. This was a surprise, given how careful we were, plus the stain tests on the off cut piece. We had a workman round to finish the tiling in our kitchen and he'd put a mug of tea on the worktop, leaving an awful tea stain. And yet, the off cut piece didn't stain when I put a very hot, wet teabag on it. I can only assume that when it's fresh out of the factory, it has some sort of coating which gets slowly eroded away with every day use.

We are disappointed in the Minerva and wouldn't recommend. We went for caramel crunch which thankfully hides a lot of the stains and marks. If you do decide to go ahead and purchase a Minerva worktop, don't get the white one - unless your kitchen is strictly for show only. The 2 stars are only because it was delivered on time and it looks beautiful - but this is ruined by that fact that it appears to be ever so fragile and not fit for purpose. We have no doubt that it will need to be replaced in the next 5-7 years with regular use.

This product is the worse product I have ever bought . It was the last job in renovating our house we choose the black which we thought in the show room looked lovely . As others here have commented it scratches just by looking at it and mine is different shades if black were I have tried to polish using there products . Please please don't buy this product . Not serviceable at all for a kitchen . Wouldn't put I in a bedroom let alone kitchen

I recently purchased a very large island top and worktops from Minerva. I would like to give the company 11 out of 10 for their product ( which is fantastic) and their customer service!! Such helpful staff ( especially Victoria) and such efficient service. Delivered all the way to the North of Scotland with no problems ( lots of companies refuse delivery to the Highlands or charge an extortionate delivery fee) and no charge for delivery.
I absolutely love their product…..looking to get a new kitchen ……check out their fabulous products…..you won’t be disappointed with the quality and service from them.

I have had Minerva fitted in my kitchen the Carrara White decor. Not only is the worktop both practical but also so very stylish, I was amazed at how easy it was to clean the worktops using Cif which I purchased from Tesco’s. We had it fitted 3 years ago and it still looks just as good now as it did when it was first installed, following Minerva’s easy to follow care and maintenance guide any minor marks come out so easily. I would recommend Minerva to anyone I think it is a fantastic product for the price it cost! Much less than quartz or granite.

Very disappointing. We chose ice crystal worktops for our John Lewis kitchen some 2 years ago. The worktops are now stained, scratched (despite trying to polish up with the care kit supplied) and the integrated sink looks awful. It has a yellow tinge (we can't use bleach as on a septic tank system) which we can't remove. Any hints or ideas?!

Certainly wouldn't ever have the product again - my go to would be granite every time despite the high upkeep to keep it polished....

Contacting Sylmar customer service was the best move we made. Individually and as a team they were professional and helpful throughout. We are pleased with our choice of Minerva in Travertine Haze and it is a working worktop in our lovely kitchen.

Please do not buy these worktops as they are so awful if you need to work on them!!!
We had them installed by a kitchen fitter who brought only 3 patterns and we chose the Nimbus Grey.
By the time they were fitted there were so many marks and scratches on it looked terrible. The kitchen fitter showed us how to get rid of scratches with an abrasive pad and all it did was make a shiny patch which looked worse!!
I have 2 large worktop savers and when they are picked up to clean underneath it has really faded!
This worktop is the worst thing I have ever bought but was told it was the best! Don't know how people sleep in their beds at night.
If your finger nail touches it when you pick things up it leave a scratch! It's disgusting.
We try to keep it as best we can by using a good worktop cleaner £12 a time but I would definitely prefer plain old laminate which is much easier to look after!
Wish someone had given me this advice and saved me a lot of work and money!!

I have white mineral workshop. The bits of shell etc have indentations in the resin so it is not smooth. It stains very, very easily. I now make tea on a tray but there are still brown stains every day I really regret this purchase and have tried contacting the manufacturer through Magnet but have been told that is how it is. Not fit for purpose. Looks pretty when clean.

We had a new kitchen fitted 3 years ago and decided to buy both the white and grey Minerva for the worktops and also a large T shaped island. I wish we had researched this product more as we were told how easy it was to look after compared to granite and so much cheaper. However, after three years the side of our island which gets the afternoon sun through our bi fold doors has faded and it scratches so easily. Very disappointed with Minerva’s durability and this has ended up a very expensive mistake!!
