Incredible service From Brooks Amos
We cannot speak highly enough of McCarthy & Stone and, in particular, Brooke Amos, who went absolutely above and beyond throughout the purchase of my mum’s retirement apartment at The Laburnums in Southend.
From the very beginning, Brooke was incredibly friendly, genuine and personable. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and no question, enquiry or request was ever made to feel like an inconvenience. She was always approachable, patient and happy to help, keeping us informed and reassured at every stage of the process.
Moving home can be incredibly stressful, especially when it is such a big life change, but Brooke made the whole experience feel easy, straightforward and stress-free. Her kindness, professionalism and genuine care really stood out.

Sanderling Court, Bournemouth
My father lives here and I visit every few months. It is a very comfortable place, with a lovely communal lounge and guest suite.
It is a friendly place and I am always welcomed by the other residents when I visit.
It is well situated with good bus routes and the station is fairly close.
There is a well kept garden, accessible to everyone.
Amy, the house manager, keep an eye on all of the residents and contacts me if she has any concerns about my father. She and other residents, also arrange events and meals.
It offers the privacy of individual, privately owned flats, with the opportunity to socialise with others or not.

A very comfortable stay with little extras …
A very comfortable stay which meant I could be close to my mum at Charlotte Court so very convenient.
The room is very well equipped with extra towels, bedding and a small fridge, which is brilliant and Sue, the house manager, had stocked the room with the all essentials and a few treats too! It was perfect for what I needed. A home away from home.

Retirement Living at its best
In January 2023 – after many years of living on Tunbridge Wells High St, in a 3rd floor flat with no lift – no car parking space – and no outdoor space whatsoever [e.g. balcony/patio – and with age making physical effort more and more demanding – I finally decided to buy an Apartment at The Dairy – a McCarthy & Stone Retirement Home in Tunbridge Wells
Over the 3+ years I have now spent here I am immensely glad I made this decision, and have nothing but praise for the many ways in which it has improved my life!
• The only “house-work” I have done over these 3 years has been washing-up!
• For shopping:
o there is a TESCO Express literally next door
o both M&S and Little WAITROSE have stores BP and SHELL petrol stations within a 5-minutewalk
o A Sainsbury Local is even nearer
• The building is very modern [opened only in 2018] so is very well-equipped, and immaculately maintained
• There is dedicated enclosed car-park for residents and visitors, which also includes an attractive garden area with comfortable out-door seating.
• There is an excellent BISTRO – where many residents enjoy a very pleasant and sociable lunch time
• The Management arranges a number of optional leisure activities on a regular basis – including Scrabble – Bingo – Quiz-Evenings – etc
One of the most impressive – and precious –asset of life in The Dairy is the exceptional quality of the staff team here. Whereas in the “hospitality” and “care” field, high levels of staff turnover are the norm, most of the Staff at The Dairy have been in place for many years, and constitute a stable and extremely consistent and well-knit team.
Since moving in myself over 3 years ago, I have seen friend who has moved in to a more recently opened Retirement Home [The Beckett]] .......and I have had the opportunity to pay several prospective visits to Paramount Place ,the newest similar facility in Tunbridge Wells [which is expect to open in the next few weeks]
In both cases I am immensely thankful that I made the choice to come to The Dairy- which I believe to be in every way a much better choice.

A wonderful stay in the guest apartment.
As several occasions previously, we stayed in the guest apartment at the location of Marine road, in Scarborough. This apartment, together with all areas we visited, were absolutely pristine and a pleasure to be there. The beds were very comfortable and a good night’s sleep was not a problem.
It is worth noting that the complex manager, David Beckett, keeps a close eye, without being intrusive, on the daily upkeep of this very welcoming and warm facility. From the odd times that we met David, we found him to be friendly, courteous and very professional. Also, these attributes can also be found in the team that has been carefully selected.

My father had a flat in CaenStone court Arundel for 3 years. It was a very happy place for him. The building is situated in the heart of the town with local amenities very close by . The house manager Francesca has done in great job of creating a warm friendly environment for the residents .

My mum loved living in her apartment
My mum loved her McCarthy & Stone apartment in Morpeth and was incredibly happy in it for many years. She often said how much she loved it and how happy she was. The House Manager was always incredibly kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend them as a place to live once you reach a certain age!

McCarthy Stone has been a lifeline for me in this next phase of my life. Retirement felt like the looming unknown until I happened across McCarthy Stone’s Rebecca Fleetwood. She listened, she explored options with me and ultimately guided me through the process of purchasing a shared ownership apartment at Powell House in Sutton Coldfield. Mum has been at Carpenter Court Nottingham for almost 2 years. Fiona the house manager celebrates working there for 5 years this week. My brother lives at Alavana Place in Kendal. His mobility is compromised and general health not all that strong. Living there suits him well. I, with my wife on occasions, visit him fairly frequently; last week the two of us visited and stayed in the spacious and very comfortable guest suite.
Alavana Place is very well appointed, a pleasant environment and excellently managed. Barbara is the on-the-spot manager and is both welcoming and helpful - always a pleasure to see again.
She sets the tone of the place so warmly and positively; I know that my brother Harry would second that.
Five stars, no question.

My father recently celebrated a significant milestone birthday while a resident at Augustus House, Virginia Water. What really stood out was the care, support and genuine affection that the team have shown towards my father and us his family. Not just on one off events, but day in and day out. Their dedication is exemplary and is helping make Dad's later years some of the happiest he's ever had. Thankyou all.
