Have been dealing with Julian Bowen now for a good few years and the service levels have been generally been good. My new representative, Georgia has raised this level and nothing has ever been too much trouble, product has improved in quality and we are now seeing a better version of JB, thank you.

Great customer service

Great customer service, had an issue with one of the parts that appears to have been damaged in transit, spoke with Stacey this morning who asked for a couple of photo's to highlight the damage and within 10 minutes I have an email to advise the replacement part will be sent to me within 48 hours.

Great customer service and Stacey made the process very easy to complete.

Apart from this one issue the quality of the furniture looks great and I would recommend.

A kids bunk bed were received with damaged parts. DONT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY

A kids bunk bed were received with damaged parts some of which could not even be used so therefore weren't built. Contacted the wholesaler who went back to this scam company and they have stated it was a build error. Despite numerous emails saying items weren't built they are trying to charge me for the parts. Due to having no bed for 2 children the bunk beds had to be built as the parts weren't critical to the structure but was more cosmetic. I will be contacting the consumer watchdog about this company and their lack of quality control and customer service. I will also be contacting retailers who sell this product to avoid using them.
Do not BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR PRODUCTS WHICH THEY SEND DAMAGED. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE.

Update- I am happy to say after speaking with the customer sevice rep Amy, this matter has been resolved. Should have come directly to the manufacturer rather then then the retailer. Pleased with the way this was handled and expedited quickly.

Missing legs

Opened box and no legs... Contacted company and Chloe was extremely helpful apologised and then arranged delivery via DHL. Legs received and fitted perfectly. Most impressed.

Damage and defects - multiple items

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after receiving two defective units in succession I feel compelled to share my experience.

I ordered a Julian Bowen Lowry sideboard (approximately £600) through Homebase. The design is excellent and the colour was exactly what I was looking for, which makes this all the more disappointing.

The first unit arrived damaged and had to be replaced.
The replacement has now arrived with a highly visible finish defect on the top panel. This is not a minor imperfection that can only be seen under close inspection or at a particular angle. It is immediately visible under normal viewing conditions and is located on the most prominent surface of the furniture.

My issue is not with the design of the product. In fact, I genuinely like the style and finish of the Lowry range. My concern is with quality control. At a price point of around £600, I do not believe customers should have to go through multiple delivery and replacement cycles in order to receive a unit free from obvious defects.

Homebase are the retailer, but the product seems to be supplied directly from the manufacturer, so the underlying issue appears to be quality control before dispatch.

Had I received a good example of the product, I suspect I would have been very happy with it. Unfortunately, after receiving one damaged unit followed by a replacement with an obvious defect on the top surface, my confidence in Julian Bowen's quality control is now very low.

It is particularly disappointing to read your comments given that you genuinely liked the design and finish of the Lowry sideboard.

Receiving a damaged unit is frustrating enough, but having a replacement arrive with a visible defect is clearly unacceptable. Customers should be able to expect a product that arrives in excellent condition without the need for repeated replacements.

Experiences such as yours are not representative of the standards we aim to deliver, and we regret that we have fallen short in this instance.

Very Dubious Quality.

I purchased 4 items of Julian Bowen bedroom furniture from a reseller that was drop shipped direct from Julian Bowen to myself.

2 Items were substandard, one with veneer delamination issues, the other had been made from different coloured timber so when stood next to each other they didn’t match!

Made in Vietnam and with really dubious build quality I had to go through our reseller who initiated a return/replacement process.

It has taken almost a month to get the replacements with several emails exchanges and photographs sent.

When the replacements arrived we insisted on unboxing them so we could check the suitability of the replacements.

Whilst the colour of the replacement furniture was acceptable enough to solve the initial problem, the actual replacement item a 6 Draw Chest was severely structurally damaged with the main framework snapped through and joints coming apart!

The delivery team were not happy especially as the box and external packaging had no visible damage proving they were in no way responsible for the condition of the contents.

As they had already labelled the 2 return items ready to return to Julian Bowen, we insisted they leave us the already rejected 6 draw chest with Colour and veneer issues that we were sending back and made them take the new replacement but smashed unit back instead!

Julian Bowen is a shambles!
Shoddy goods a chaotic QC regime and no way for retail clients to seek redress directly.

If you’re considering Julian Bowen Furniture I would do some very careful research first!

If only all companies were like Julian Bowen

What an excellent customer service team at Julian Bowen - clearly staffed by people who actually listen to the customer and respond appropriately. I ordered the Davenport dining table and, separately, two sets of dining chairs. Assembly of the table and the first set of chairs completed successfully, I opened the second box of chairs and unusually a part was missing. These things happen but when I contacted the retailer I was informed an exchange would have to be arranged as individual parts could not be sent. So wasteful (and a waste of my time having to arrange to be available when the courier came to collect). Instead I emailed Julian Bowen directly last night and was delighted to see a response from Leanne in Customer Services in my Inbox this morning. The missing part is now on its way to me with an apology for the omission. Such a sensible approach - if only all companies operated this way. I have just moved into a new property and purchased a number of items of furniture so can compare this service with that of other companies, and as a result will preference Julian Bowen for any further items I need. Thank you Leanne - and by the way the furniture looks beautiful!

Such amazing customer service

Such amazing customer service. Having unboxed our sideboard (which is stunning and very well made!) we noticed a slight imperfection on one of the door handles….it wasn’t obvious but I reached out to Julian Bowen after sales team directly and recieved a prompt response from Stacey who advised that a replacement part had been sent out. All in less than 24 hours. Couldn’t recommend them enough.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM JULIAN BOWEN. CHEAPLY MADE FURNITURE SOLD AT A HIGH PRICE

Ordered a wardrobe via next. 1st wardrobe peices didn't fit, no labeling on parts so took ages to put together. Sent this back which was a pain as had to dismantle.
2nd wardrobe arrived.... this was without a doubt a second hand wardrobe. Holes already drilled lack of screws. The back of the wardrobe already had holes where the tacks had been.
So next kindly discounted 40% which still took the price of a " second hand " wardrobe to £315!
It was such a pain to try and send back AGAIN. I mean how hard is it to have a new wardrobe and expect good quality.
Emailed julian bowen only to be told next have given me a discount!!
DO NOT BUY ANY FURNITURE FROM THIS COMPANY. its cheaply made, they reuse parts that have been returned despite them denying this. I have pictures to prove this.
The doors don't even shut properly,
Cheap, cheap, cheap.
Buyers beware what you order.

Great company to work with

We are a Lettings agency in London and We have been working with Julian Bowen for contract furniture across a number of our clients’ properties, and the experience so far has been excellent.

A particular mention goes to Victoria, our Contracts Manager, whose personal service has really stood out. She has been personable, responsive, and genuinely helpful, taking the time to understand our requirements, timelines, and client expectations. Communication has been clear and proactive throughout.

The quality of the furniture has also been very good — practical, well-designed, and well-suited for rental and investment properties. On the strength of our experience to date, we expect this to be the start of a long-term working relationship with repeat business ahead.

Overall, Julian Bowen have proven to be a reliable furniture supplier with a strong product range and a personal touch. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for dependable contract furniture backed by excellent service.

Replacement bolt for single bed

I needed a replacement bolt for a bed I bought years ago. I was unable to find one that fitted, so I contacted Julian Bowen. They were able to supply an exact replacement, and only charged me postage. They responded quickly and efficiently.
Whilst it's a very small item, it was vital in allowing me to re-assemble and re-use the bed.
Their Customer Service was excellent. If only other companies were like this.

I had an issue with a nest of tables I…

I had an issue with a nest of tables I purchased.The assemble parts just wouldn’t fit correctly on the smallest table of three.
I therefore got in contact with Julian Bowen,and spoke and emailed Leanne at after sales.
I explained the issues with Leanne and she was very keen to correct and put right the small table issues.
Leanne then sent me out a complete small table replacement.
Really good after sales customer service from Leanne.

Lazy disinterested staff.

I was interested in a Julian Bowen Alfie sofabed but I wanted to know what the back looks like as it will not be going against a wall. I phoned them and they didn't help. They just told me to email customer services. I did that and after several days they replied to say they can't send a photo of the back because they don't have one. Neither could they tell me anywhere that might have one in stock to view. How difficult can it be for a company to source a photo of their own products? I just felt like they couldn't be bothered helping.

Terrible quality chairs

I bought 6 of the Julian Bowen Goya chairs on 6th October 2024, they were bought to use on Christmas day. I used them Christmas 2024 and they didn't get any more use until around April 2025 when my 2 grandsons were old enough to sit at a big table. From then, 2 of the chairs got used every Saturday for the kids meals. Fast forward to November, I noticed the stitching was coming away from the back of the seat where it meets the back of the chair on the 2 chairs in use. I contacted where I bought them from only to be told, sorry outwith the 12 months, then contacted the designer via email to see if there was any way they could be fixed, wasn't expecting it to be free, got no answer from them. Just noticed a third chair, which literally has been sat on 3 times is starting to rip. At £175 for 2 chairs, they are not the cheapest so I expect them to last longer than this, avoid like the plague, terrible quality, not fit for purpose. I would upload the pictures but dont have that option, won't ever buY from this designer again.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this must be, particularly given the limited use of the chairs and the price paid.

The Julian Bowen Goya chairs come with a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty, and unfortunately the issues you’ve described were reported outside of this warranty period. For this reason, we’re unable to offer repairs or replacements once the warranty has expired.
