Beautifully traditional small hotel. Just what you would want. Charming staff, discreet and welcoming. The room was lovely. Proper personal coffee service at breakfast, no horrible coffee machine!!

Wonderful place to stay in Rome!
We stayed for 6 nights and everything was great. Very quiet location in spite of being quite close to major landmarks in the Campus Martius. A/C worked well. Breakfast spread was good and very enjoyable to eat on the rooftop.

Great location, wonderful staff
This was a really great hotel for our two night stay in Rome. It is close to many landmarks but far enough away to be in a quiet location away from the crowds and late night revelers. The front desk staff was kind and accommodating. The breakfast service on the rooftop was pleasant. The room was clean. Our only complaint is the bedding. The bed was fairly hard and the sheets were rough, like paper. For two nights only though, it was tolerable.

Very helpful staff, booked me an unexpected night at a hotel near the airport. Excellent breakfast. Taxis rendered as needed. Perfect location but alas the A/C was broken. A little noisy at night.

Modest and simply comfortable.
The room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was very good. One thing I would suggest is to let guests know water and beer are available upon request.
Also, as summer approaches, it would be helpful to let guests know how the air-conditioner functions centrally and not able to moderate in the room. Grazie mille, a presto!

Il hotel e molto carino
Il hotel e molto carino, ha una bella posizione e Giovanni e un receptionist bravisimo ma la mia camera (No.16) e piccola e poco affascinante.Piu adetto per un ragazzo che una donna. Il bagno moderno ma senza bide e la doccia miniatura.
Per la prossima volta Io prenotare una camera doppia con un letto.

The hotel itself was pretty good!
The bed was comfortable and hard. The room was just like on the website… pretty, roomy, window opening up onto the quiet street.
The breakfast wasn’t great, the basic cheese, meats and breads/pastries. Absolutely nothing fresh not even a banana or orange. There was only one person taking care of everything so the table cloths had stains and breadcrumbs. The dishes were dirty.
I probably would not have said anything about the breakfast but because we did not sleep well I decided to write a full review.
The first two nights the organ player at the church was playing the organ late at night and our one bedroom suite shared a wall with the church. We asked the front desk to do something about it and the seemed incapable. They just shrugged their shoulders and said they couldn’t help. The said this doesn’t usually happen.
After two nights of this loud music… I went over to the church and spoke to the organist and asked him to stop. He did not play that night. Yay!
I’m sure this is not the first time this happened and the hotel should have been able to take care of this problem.
Very disappointed.

thank you for your feedback about the room and the breakfast, we are sorry that you did not find fresh fruit but it would have been enough to ask for it and we would have provided for you to find. It seems very strange for us that you found the dishes dirty (it can happen) because they are washed and sanitized with a special machine anyway, even in this case he could have pointed it out and we would have replaced them. Concerned the church organ, we are sorry that it happened at a time when there were two concerts on two consecutive days and this probably created some discomfort in your stay but I would like to clarify that both days the concerts closed at 10:00pm (as per regulation) and not at unspecified times. Next time (if there ever will be) it would be more appropriate that your complaints as well as writing to us should be pointed out during the stay so that we could immediately remedy it.

Your front desk staff is so friendly and helpful! They were so pleasant to see everyday! I had taken a fall while walking and your front desk person was kind enough to get us a cab to the hospital. So nice! The one down size was the rooms were quite stuffy and it took a few days to get the air conditioning turned on.

Great 4 night stay
We had a great 4 night stay. Room and all areas of property were clean and well maintained. Staff at reception was helpful with dinner reservations and arranging transportation to cruise ship port. Reception staff and staff in breakfast room were all friendly and made you to feel like a valued guest. Great location for visiting all the main attractions of the city and just around corner to great gelato. We would definitely recommend to friends and family.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Portoghesi Hotel. The location in the historic part of Rome is beautiful and perfect, most places are in walking distance. The staff was super friendly and always helpful ( i.e. when we asking for a kettle, or when adapting travel itinerary after a train strike was announced). I would absolutely recommend a stay at the Portoghesi.
