Location can’t be beat. Walking distance to everything. Rooms are small, but it’s Rome and should be expected. It’s very clean and staff are very helpful. Beds and pillows are on the firmer side for my preference. Rooftop terrace for breakfast is nice.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast on the rooftop was excellent and a wonderful way to start the day.

We stayed at Hotel Portoghesi this June for 3 nights. They were very helpful and friendly. We liked the location in Rome. Lots of things within walking distance (the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, 30 min walk to Colosseum), but far enough to avoid the crowds. The room was comfortable and the AC worked great. We used the airport car service to be picked up from our arrival. It was very easy and we didn't have to worry about how to get to the hotel. We were very fast out of our delayed flight and were worried when the driver wasn't there. I called the hotel and they called the driver for us, which was so helpful. We just beat him to the arrivals gate since we got out so fast. Otherwise the service was very nice.
Our favorite thing was the breakfast! Typical European offerings (bread, cheese, meat, pastries, cereal/granola, hard boiled egg, and juices), but the croissants were amazing and rivaled those of Paris. Also the hostess took coffee orders and made the best cappuccinos! There is the rooftop seating (as you see in the pictures) and also an indoor area where the food is kept. Would return!

Ho soggiornato al Hotel Portoghesi per la prima volta e l'ho trovato perfetto per il mio breve soggiorno a Roma. L'Hotel si trova in posizione centrale, vicinissimo a Piazza Navona e si possono raggiungere a piedi molte delle principali attrazioni della città.
La struttura seppur non recente è mantenuta alla perfezione. Gli spazi comuni sono piacevoli e tutto è pulitissimo. La mia camera singola era abbastanza spaziosa e confortevole, ben insonorizata e comunque in una via poco trafficata. Il bagno, piuttosto piccolo, è comunque comodo e dotato di tutto il necessario.
La colazione che potrebbe essere sicuramente migliorata, viene servita all'ultimo piano dove si trova anche una splendida terrazza.
Ringrazio tutto il personale che ho trovato davvero gentile e disponibile. Consiglio l'Hotel Portoghesi e ci tornerò sicuramente alla prossima occasione.

When we arrived 1 hour before check in, we were told we could go directly to our room. That was an added bonus. The rooms were very clean and nicely airconditioned! The breakfast was fantastic. The croissants are a must to try!

We felt so lucky to find this place at the last minute in such a nice location. The street was quiet and the price was affordable in peak season! The room was actually a suite with a large bathroom, bedroom area and small living room and foyer. The AC was preset, but it kept us very comfortable. The only downside was the odor of the cleaning products when we entered the room. Not a pleasant smell, but it dissipated with time. The breakfast was included and also very nice with options to eat inside or on a patio. I would highly recommend this place.

The location is great. The room was very nice. The roof top terrace, where breakfast is served, is very nice, too. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. We would recommend this hotel to others.

Everything was great. We loved our room, especially the large rooftop patio. The breakfast food and location was great. The breakfast worker was very attentive and pleasant. All the front desk employees were helpful and friendly. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.

The Hotel Portoghesi is a little jewel of a hotel. The perfect location in Rome, one can walk to nearly all of the sites within 30 minutes. Once you know the bus system, two minutes to walk to the bus stop for many of the buses you need to travel around the city. Any questions I had, the people at the front desk were happy to answer. They gave me a city map and marked on it where I needed to go. After a couple of days, that map was invaluable and it made it very easy to navigate back to the hotel. My suitcase was delayed by the airlines and I appreciated the efforts of the front desk to keep me apprised of the status of the bag since the airline was calling the hotel with updates. The people at the front desk were also lovely to visit with, I had some great conversations with them. Traveling by myself, I had a single room. Plenty big enough for one person. The shower was a tad small but the water pressure was great, with both a hand-held showerhead and a rain showerhead. The morning breakfast was excellent. A nice selection of pastries, yogurt, cold meats, cheese, cereals, and bread to make toast. It was a great way to start the day and kept me going until a late lunch. If ever in Rome again, I would definitely stay at this hotel and I would recommend it to all my friends.

Conosco quest'Hotel già dagli anni '80, quando aveva 2 stelle e l'ho pernottato diverse volte. Sono stata a Roma più di 60 volte sia per lavoro sia per vacanze private e ho dormito anche negli alberghi più lussuosi e comodi di questo ; ma dopo l'epidemia l'ho scelto di nuovo, perché volevo sentire la Roma più intima risparmiando modestamente il costo dell'alloggio. Infatti da qui si arriva tutte le parti affascinanti nel cuore di Roma. E ci sono dei buoni e onesti ristoranti vicini. Naturalmente la struttura non sarà perfetta; manca un frigorifero, è lenta la riempitura dell'acqua dello sciacquone del bagno, manca la frutta fresca alla colazione, ecc. Ma, l'aria condizionata funziona bene e si dorme bene. C'è anche il servizio del trasporto all'aeroporto. Ma, è stato peccato che l'albergatore non ci ha fatto sapere del fuoco d'artificio della festa del 29 giugno.

A warm and lovely hotel and staff. Everyone is extremely helpful. Spotlessly clean with a charming roof-deck for breakfast. And a magical location.

Our family had the most wonderful experience at Hotel Portoghesi. The front desk was happy to assist in anything we needed from a taxi to dinner reservations. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious. An excellent location that is cozy respite from a busy day in Rome.

Overall, we liked the Hotel Portoghesi. The location was perhaps what we liked best. Situated in the old part of Rome, the streets around the hotel were beautiful and the hotel was in walking distance to many of Rome's historical sites. The hotel served a great breakfast, and the rooftop terrace was a wonderful place to enjoy it. There were several things we did not like. A few are significant. Most are small complaints that nevertheless made our stay at the hotel a little less enjoyable. The two major complaints are the hotel wi-fi and the shower. The wi-fi was extremely weak - so weak, it was practically unusable. I tried to use it to book a train ticket, and the wi-fi was so bad I couldn't use it. I ended up having to cancel a day trip because of it. It's possible that the wi-fi is better in other parts of the hotel. But it was horrible in our room. Regarding the shower.... the water pressure was extremely weak, and at certain times of the morning there was no hot water. It's possible that the water pressure has to do with local water regulations, and if that's the case, then disregard this criticism. However, I don't think there's any excuse for no hot water in a hotel that considers itself to be a quality establishment. Cold showers are no fun! Here is a list of much smaller complaints we had about the hotel: no garbage can in the main room (only in the bathroom), no Kleenex, no shelf in the shower (soap, shampoo, etc. had to be on the floor), door to the bathroom would not stay open but swing to a partially closed position, inadequate lighting in the bathroom, and the bidet had inadequate water pressure. One final complaint: we arrived at the hotel in the evening, and the hotel supplied a free bottle of prosecco (as a reward for posting about our stay at the hotel on Facebook). The prosecco was great, but no glasses were provided. We had to use the very small glasses in our room's bathroom. We thought it would be nice to drink the prosecco on the rooftop terrace. Unfortunately, the terrace was almost completely dark. It surprised us that the hotel didn't have some kind of ambient lighting so that guests could better enjoy the terrace in the evening.

Prezzo adeguato, gentilezza, pulizia, posizione strategica, un particolare charme complessivo. Che dire di piu'?
