Lots of information on website. Decided on the big one, only two of us but lots of veg and fruit peelings, also a big garden for grass cuttings and twigs. Ordering and delivery were faultless.

What concerns me is rats may chew through the material as it’s isn’t very tough .
The straps to keep the door closed fall down all the time and very temporary.

Thank you for sharing your feedback.
The concerns you’ve raised about durability and the door straps are important to us, and we want to make sure you feel confident in what you’ve purchased.
Whilst we do not claim the HOTBIN to be rodent proof as rats in particular can chew through concrete the HOTBIN has been designed and tested to ensure its attraction to all unwanted visitors (including mice and rats) is minimised and in 99.5% of cases no issues are reported.
Regarding the door straps, these are only for additional security. The hatch will not fall off without the straps. However, if there is a lot of pressure behind the hatch from a high volume of compost then it may push the hatch out a little – this is most likely to happen if compost is not removed from the HOTBIN on a regular basis.
For further help on tightening the strap please contact our customer service team who will get this sorted for you and please check out our website for advice on further deterrents you can put in place for rodents if you still have concerns.
We hope this helps address your concerns and we are here to help support you should you require any further help or advise.

Thanks for your review.
We’re glad it arrived on time. The HOTBIN may look like polystyrene, but it’s actually a high‑density, durable polypropylene which is used to make car bumpers and goes inside cycle helmets as protection.
If you have any questions as you get started, we’re here to help.

Problem dealt with fairly and quickly ( enormous overcharge on postage), but I still haven't received the little cap ordered

Hello,
Thanks for leaving your review - we apologise for the issue with the shipping. Unfortunately a system error meant that the shipping cost for sending a HOTBIN to Ireland was also being applied to all other products - we refunded this as quickly as possible on the day the order was placed.
Regarding your missing cap, unfortunately given the time that has elapsed since dispatch this has now most likely been lost in the post. Please email our customer services team (help @ hotbincomposting.com) and they will get this sorted for you.

It works.
The delivery was prompt and provided you follow the instructions, it definitely works. It took a couple of weeks to get up to the temperature at which you can put most bio-degradable materials in.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. It’s great to hear your delivery went smoothly and that you’re already seeing the HOTBIN working as intended.
It can take some time for the heat to build up in the HOTBIN and it needs to be at least half full for the temperature to climb.
If you ever want tips or advice we’re always here to help.

I think the bin will be great but not yet.
It’s going to take at least a month for the bin to heat up, provided I feed it regularly.
For some reason I expected it to heat up more quickly- daft really because I have been making my own compost for years, and it takes about a year.
So still hopeful that it will deliver as promised

Thank you for sharing your first impressions.
It sounds like you’re off to a steady start, HOTBIN does need regular feeding and needs to be at least half full to build up that internal heat.
Once the temperature starts to climb the HOTBIN will be composting quicker than a traditional heap and we’re hopeful you’ll start seeing the results you’re expecting soon.
We completely understand that it may take a little longer to fully assess how well the product performs. Please feel free to update your review as you continue using it.
If you have any questions or need support in the meantime, our team is always here to help.

Great composters
My first HOTBIN composter that I've had for a few years had been so good in producing excellent compost in short timescales that I've just bought my second HOTBIN. They are proving to be one of the best pieces of gardening equipment I've ever owned!

So Far Very Good!
Fairly fast delivery, easy to put together and unobtrusive in the garden. Early days yet to comment on efficiency due to the cold weather but last week it got up to 90 degrees and I can smell action in the hot bin! Pleasant smell that is.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It’s great to hear your HOTBIN arrived quickly and was easy to set up.
We’re delighted you’re noticing that warm, earthy “composting in action” aroma. That’s exactly what a healthy HOTBIN should smell like. 90 degrees in the colder weather is a promising sign. Make sure you are reading the temperature in Celsius and not Fahrenheit.
If you ever have questions as things progress or want tips for keeping the heat up, we’re always here to help 0808 168 8499 or help@hotbincomposting.com.

Cold bin!
the ordering process and delivery is quick but I am not impressed with the item itself. Definitely more cold bin than hot bin.

Svar från HOTBIN Composting
Thank you for your positive feedback about the ordering and delivery process. We’re really sorry to hear your struggle with the product itself and understand how frustrating it must be if it isn't performing as expected.
A HOTBIN should reach temperatures of 40–60°C, so if it’s staying cool, there’s usually a simple reason behind it that we can help fix. In most cases, it comes down to a balance of inputs (for example, not enough “greens”/nitrogen-rich waste), moisture levels, or how the material is layered and broken down. The good news is that these are all quick to adjust and can make a big difference within a few days.
We’d really like to help you get the results you were expecting so please contact our support team for guidance freephone on 0808 1688499 or drop us an email via our website. We will be happy to talk through what’s currently going into your bin and help you get it heating up properly.
Thanks for your feedback, and we hope we can turn your experience around.
