Lots of information on website. Decided on the big one, only two of us but lots of veg and fruit peelings, also a big garden for grass cuttings and twigs. Ordering and delivery were faultless.

Not impressed with the straps
Not impressed with the straps, no instructions how to do them up correctly and isn’t possible to get them tight.
Don’t tell me to look at U tube! I have done that.

We are sorry to hear that you have had some difficulties with the HOTBIN straps. Thank you for the feedback we will pass this information back to the team for future improvements.
If you are struggling to get the strap tight then you can always try wedging a piece of wood in-between the the HOTBIN and strap to fill the gap.
If you have any further queries then please get in touch with our customer support team.

Easy ordering and information
Easy ordering and information, although delivery arrived whilst web still showed it as in process so not ready for delivery....and it was a present.

Thanks for the feedback, glad ordering was easy.
Apologies about the tracking details lag though, that’s a little frustrating, especially when it’s a gift and you’re trying to time it properly.
Sometimes the courier status updates trail behind the actual delivery scan. We’ll feed this back to the team as it’s exactly the sort of thing we want to improve.
If you ever need a delivery to land on a specific day for a present, drop us a message before ordering and we’ll do our best to help.

Fantastic to hear your HOTBIN was a good purchase. Doing your bit for the environment and getting liquid feed as a reward? Your next bonus will be the finished compost in around 90 days.
It’s one of those things I thought was…
It’s one of those things I thought was a good idea. However, I found the reality harder. We’ve had the hotbin for a couple of months and it first took a while to get it hot and that was only when grass was added. To keep feeding it is a great thing but it’s a struggle to keep also supplying the shredded paper and cardboard, and the wood chips that need adding are also expensive. The hotbin itself is expensive. Given all this to me it’s cheaper to put everting in the green bin and just buy compost. So I’m not sure it was a wise choice to get this.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re sorry to hear that getting started with your HOTBIN has been more challenging than expected, that’s never the feeling we want for our customers.
Always use the internal thermometer to measure the temperature as it can be up to 20 degrees hotter inside than the reading on the lid.
The ratios of paper and woodchips are only a guideline and you will find that you can vary these quantities based on the types of waste you are adding e.g. if adding leaves you can add less paper than if adding vegetable peelings. You can also use hard garden pruning's as a substitute for the woodchip
If you’d like, our support team can take a look at your setup and help you get the bin running efficiently.

Love the bin but the door at the bottom…
Love the bin but the door at the bottom keeps coming open and I’m not able to tighten it up very easily. Some sort of easy to use catch would make it a five.

Svar från HOTBIN Composting
Thanks for the honest review, and we’re really glad you’re loving the HOTBIN overall, point taken on the catch improvement!
The door straps can be a little fiddly. The simplest fix is to pull the strap as tight as you can while holding it steady as you fasten it. If you’re still struggling to get a snug fit, a handy trick is to place a small wedge between the bin wall and the strap to help take up the slack and tighten it down. Hope this helps!
Delivery was very quick and the hotbin…
Delivery was very quick and the hotbin was well packaged. Lots of very useful information in the leaflet as well as on their website.

I came to HotBin Composting through a friend
I came to HotBin Composting through a friend, so I bought the 100l bin. It's very good, heats up with very little effort on my part and is neat and tidy fitting into a small corner. I did get the base and extra chippings to help but I have barely used the chippings. I may get another next year, just see how I go with this one.
I am very happy with the hotbin and the whole experience was easy and quick.
Check out their website as there is lots of very useful information to be had.

Thanks for the lovely review and a big thumbs-up to the friend who pointed you in our direction!
Great to hear the 100L is heating up without you having to fuss over it, and that it’s sitting neat and tidy in a small corner (composting that doesn’t take over the garden and saves space).
The base (plinth) is a smart add-on to help drain the liquid fertiliser. And don’t worry about barely touching the wood chippings. Users typically find they come in handy when you are adding “wetter waste" like peelings, tea bags, coffee grinds and grass, a handful of chippings here an there help to aerate the bin!
Thanks as well for the shout-out to the website, great you have found it useful and informative.
