A great learning tool
Wow what a great learning tool that's also good for transcribing and writing. I was recently reintroduced to it by a reggae bass course tutor and find it excellent for my needs. The tutor can provide a single file containing bass removed audio and score, rather than separate files. I can listen to original with midi bass from score, just midi bass, watch the score or just chords and then play along to the bass and then to original as backing track. The usual loop and speed controls work well for targeted and deliberate practice.
Very few glitches and excellent support.

Perspective from a long-time guitarist
I began using this product as part of taking lessons. My teacher has actually prepared a number of official transcriptions for Guitar Pro. As a learning tool, Guitar Pro is fantastic. I'm able to do so much with it, from slowing down sections, looping them, isolating specific parts, clicking into chord shapes for more information, etc. Highly recommended for this use.

Guitar Pro utilise des banques de sons RSE, Realistic Sound Engine, qui offrent un rendu beaucoup plus réaliste que le MIDI. Nous vous invitons à vérifier que vos partitions sont bien lues en mode RSE, et non en MIDI, dont le rendu est plus basique.
Pour cela, vous pouvez utiliser le menu :
Son > Basculer toutes les pistes en RSE
Concernant le choix d’artistes français, nous comprenons tout à fait votre remarque. Nous proposons déjà quelques artistes français et ajoutons de nouveaux titres presque quotidiennement.
Nous faisons de notre mieux pour enrichir le catalogue avec davantage d’artistes français à l’avenir. Notre offre étant 100 % légale, nous avons besoin de l’accord des ayants droit et des éditeurs avant de pouvoir publier un titre.
Certains morceaux ne peuvent donc malheureusement pas être proposés, indépendamment de notre volonté.

Je l'utilise beaucoup la possibilité de sélectionner précisément de passages difficiles pour les passer en boucle en variant la vitesse de lecture en fonction de ma progression, mais aussi pour jouer en playback avec les pistes choisies (full, ou en retirant la piste l'instrument que l'on joue par exemple, ce qui représente un bon entrainement...) A noter que la possibilité d'intégrer ses propres pistes audio est un vrai plus!
Créer des backing tracks ou retranscrire une partition est relativement simple mais demande un peu de réflexion au début; ceci dit, on s'y fait assez vite...
C'est juste dommage qu'on ne puisse pas importer des autres formats (PDF par ex) pour les convertir en GP ou télécharger les fichiers du Songbook pour éventuellement les modifier "à sa sauce"...
Sinon, c'est une super application!

Not perfect, but a lot of bang for the buck
Let me open with the fact that overall, I'm quite satisfied with it. I had no real expectations coming into it, and it did not disappoint me. I will say - it has it's limitations. There is a lack of dynamic control (no functional crescendo, decrescendo, etc.) and the majority of the midi voices are pretty terrible - to the point that it makes it difficult to notate for anything that's not a guitar or drum set. That said, the actual guitar and drum sounds are beyond what I had expected, the interface for notation is pretty streamlined and easy to use, and let's be honest - for the price, this thing outperforms. My first piece of music composition software was Noteworthy Composer back in the 90's... when midi's were like 8-bit Nintendo voices at best. Even then, that was $40. For this to be only $70 three decades later, it is an excellent deal. For the price and the quality, a solid 5 stars.

Regarding crescendo and decrescendo, it is indeed currently necessary to define a different starting and ending dynamic. Also, the RSE soundbanks provide a more realistic rendering than standard MIDI playback.

I love this software
I first used Guitar Pro 16 years ago, when I was in high school. I used it on and off through the years and recently purchased a new license. I'm reminded why I used it so much some years ago. It's an awesome software and I recommend it to every guitarist, new and old. I love that I can print my music and the readability on the screen is awesome. The price is a steal too, especially with multiple licenses.

Drumming
I'm a newby at drumming and purchased GP8 Pro as that is what my music teacher uses and sends me .mp3 files to load and practice with. Pity one can't add notation to the file when added. Could the .mp3 files not be encapsulated when adding a track so I can listen and add my own notation? (Copyright issues?) Still finding my way around, but really enjoying the experience

Just to clarify, in most cases you can absolutely edit files in Guitar Pro, including adding your own notation, unless the file author has specifically restricted editing. If you are referring to mySongBook files, these are indeed protected due to copyright restrictions and cannot be modified.
Regarding audio files, it is also possible to import and choose whether or not to embed MP3 files into your project.

Difficult to use for Beginners
I purchased Guitar Pro 8 with w simple task in mind that turned out to be anything but simple with the program. I found it difficult to find information on how to use the program or work through its unfriendly user interface. Given the amount of frustration and expense to solve this simple task I had in mind, I now wish I had not spent the money of this poorly configured product. After the initial encounter, I have not been back as frustration is not high on my list of "wants."

Extremely powerful piece of software - I have only scratched the surface of what it can, but for my use (learning/practising songs) it is better than I thought it would be. Love the fact that it is a one off purchase for v8 and not a monthly subscription.

Really good value for the money
Overall this program offers very, very good value for the money.
The feature to import an audio file and then allowing to write the score along with it, is FANTASTIC. While transcribing bass lines of players I like, I can immediately hear if what I write, perfectly matches what was played in the original: wonderful way to learn writing and reading scores. With an incredible help: everything can be slowed down as much as you need, without sounding like 'smurfs'.
Perhaps a small opportunity for improvement: some other notation softwares offer the possibility to drag a note in place with the mouse cursor, higher or lower pitch, very convenient, without the need to revert to a keyboard shortcut. Or perhaps I am overlooking something that already exists?

Fantastic piece of software. I’m new to transcribing and this has made the whole process so much easier for me. I can now transcribe very quickly and efficiently. Still have tested all features and suspect there is a lot more to learn.

Almost Perfect!!!!
I've been using Guitar Pro since 2003 and I adore it, it's incredibly easy to use and I can find my way around it with joy. As my compositions got more complex, I found the function missing was having polyrhythmic tracks. Track 1 in 4/4, track 2 in 3/4, etc. Implementing this should be their next step. Thank you!
