Gillman’s operate a large retail showroom in Gloucester, a second retail showroom in Ross-On-Wye and also a brand new commercial showroom in Exeter. Ordered a freezer
Ordered a freezer, when it was delivered it was difficult to go through front door. Drivers were determined to deliver, they ended up taking freezer door off with a lot of persuasion got it through. They were so helpful and friendly, I had nearly given up on having the freezer, we had ordered one the week before, it was too big to go inside so we reordered very helpful in shop. Drivers were Jason and Warwick, thankyou.

Extremely Concerning and Unsafe Payment Practices
Paid £800+ for an oven by credit card… then got a call asking for MORE money by bank transfer.
My bank immediately warned me this could be fraud and that I’d lose protection under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.
When I refused? I was told: pay or your order gets cancelled.
Manager didn’t care. No proper explanation. No respect for basic rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
This is NOT normal. This is NOT safe.
Avoid.
Update 14/03/26: I have reported this matter to the Trading Standards Authority.

Thank you for your Trustpilot review, however, it is important that the correct, factual information is recorded.
You were not asked for more money, you were asked to make the payment for the Smeg oven by bank transfer, as per the many emails that we have had, we explained that:
1. We were not delivering the item to London for you, you wanted to send a third party to collect your appliance on your behalf.
2. We do not accept card payments in these circumstances due to the high risk of fraud or chargebacks, as we do not have your details or the details of the third party who would be turning up to our warehouse to collect your new items.
We offered you the opportunity, tat if you were not happy, we would accept a cancellation for the order, as we understood, you may only want to purchase via a card payment, however, our price was the the cheapest in the UK, so you confirmed by email that you wished to go ahead.
You have arranged for the collection of the oven today, following your successful payment yesterday.
As we explained, your rights are not affected through this type of transaction. This is perfectly normal and a practice designed to help protect our customers along with our business.
We hope you enjoy the new oven.

Product arrived in good time and condition.
Product arrived in good time and in good condition. Very happy with my purchase. Only issue is with the delivery service which left the delivery on my doorstep when I was out without any option to redirect or text or email informing of package delivery. As there are sadly many occasions when parcels have been stolen from doorsteps in my road, I’m lucky that it was still there.

Poor quality Montpellier gas cooker slightly damaged- multiple defects
Handle on gas cooker slightly damaged. Wrong lid delivered initially. Replacement of poor workmanship, glue extrusion on plastic standoffs and dirt engrained between glass and protective layer. Discount given and hood replaced with correct size.

Courier let you down
After getting a notification saying delivery off my order would be between 13-50 & 15-50 that afternoon, I waited in for the delivery, but nothing came. The next day I was notified "the courier ran out of time", and my delivery would be delivered that day. Why the original courier could not communicate I do not know!

Refund
I requested a refund four weeks ago but have not received it, despite sending a message via the website and phoning the Service department six times. The Service department told me that the refund has been processed and should come into my bank account in “5-7 working days”. That was 11 working days ago. When I phoned and chased it, I was told that “it can take some time”. I fail to understand how it can take so long. I paid £156 for an oven element and service visit to fit the part. The engineer brought the wrong element and was unable to do the work. The following day, I went into the Gloucester store and purchased a new oven from Gillman’s. I have been a loyal Gillman’s customer for 30 years but feel I am being treated very shabbily on this occasion.
Update on 2.4.26 - I have received an email from Gillman’s explaining the situation and a full refund. I shall continue to use Gillman’s.
