I have read the many positive reviews from different departments within Freeths but I have also noted the poor review of Freeths Oxford by Steven Glynn in regard to a trust (14/1/23). After the sad death of my parents within months of each other I and my family were very lucky to be the beneficiaries of their estate. However at every stage Freeths have been incredibly slow (and expensive). Communication has been very slow and intermittent. Promises of quarterly reports haven't been honoured and emails often take more than 7 days to be replied to or even acknowledged. We find we have to frequently chase things up and pressure Freeths to get replies and action from them. We have complained twice and although the complaints team replies very quickly even they seem to think that a reply from the person dealing with the estate within 7 days is a reasonable time scale. It is now 3 to 4 years since my parents died and matters have still not been concluded. Although there are many factors behind this (many not within Freeths control) Freeths inability to communicate promptly, to us and others involved in dissolving our parents’ estates, has added to our stress and distress. I hope never to need a solicitor for an estate again but if I did I would not choose Freeths Oxford Estate department. I would add that I'm sad to have to write this review, particularly as good and timely communication seems such a simple thing for a professional firm of lawyers to fix should they choose to put a priority on it. Postscript 18/9/24: Sadly in spite of including the complaints department in all of our emails Freeths continues to not reply to our emails in a timely way.

Medical Neglience Case
I cannot recommend Freeths highly enough. From the moment I made the initial enquiry to the conclusion of my claim, Katie Shaw has been amazing. Her professionalism and empathy is second to none. Katie takes her time to explain the processes and gives you a realistic expectation right from the start. Emails and calls are responded to promptly and she provides regular updates - even when there is no news. This makes the experience more personal. Freeths are the executors of my late father’s estate and have treated beneficiaries and workers with disdain and disregard.
They have not paid my late father’s gardeners for 6 months and even removed their coffee and tea float.
……..
Freeths Oxford were appointed trustees for us when we were minors and all they do is charge huge fees despite doing no work.
I have finally managed to break open the Trust of which they are trustees, and despite receiving the money on our behalf months ago, they are dragging their feet repaying it to us.
My hands are tied until they eventually return our money as they ignore our emails, but once we receive our money I shall be making a formal complaint.
Please nobody ever think of using this chaotic and greedy company.

Freeth's Oxford office is an absolute disgrace.
My partner is a beneficiary of a trust that they maintain. They do not respond to emails in a timely fashion and have been sitting on her funds for months in a low interest account. They have charged stupendous fees and her solicitor Richard Biddle is a rude bully and has even made her cry on several occasions. Nobody should have to endure what she has been put through by these people.

A few years ago, I was in a serious near death road accident, and it changed my life forever. Suffering all the physical and psychological consequences is bad enough, let alone when you add the legal issues to the situation. This was the most horrible time of my life, but at least, thanks to Freeths, with Carolyn Lowe and Katie Shaw in particular, I knew that from a legal side, I was very well looked after. Not only were they extremely professional and knowledgeable, but they were very kind and patient. They were always happy to give their time to talk to me, clarify any doubts and reassure me. They had the perfect approach between being very professional and efficient, but also being human and empathetic. These kind of situations are awful, and the last thing you need are solicitors which are not up to the standards of Carolyn and Katie so I would most certainly recommend them to any family or friend who might need their help.

My late partner died because St Thomas' Hospital failed to perform a mandatory and crucial second troponin blood test after a suspected heart attack. He was given the all clear and released but only two days later, he collapsed and died in my arms at home. Had they performed the second test he would not have been discharged and should have been kept in the care of the cardiology ward where he would have had a chance for recovery. It was a lonely battle for me fighting the hospital trust for three years but finally Freeths took on my case and I was so relieved to have someone who was really fighting on my side. In their investigation they discovered that one doctor completely ignored the order for a second test and changed the prognosis of a suspected heart attack altogether to a lung issue. Not only were Freeths thorough in their legal expertise but Katie Shaw who handled my case was sympathetic and understanding of what I was going through. I cannot thank her enough. I certainly hope that I would never have to go through anything like this again but I have nothing but praise and respect for Freeths and Ms Shaw.
