The Ilrarcombe branch did a brillant job
The Ilrarcombe branch did a brillant Job , Findling us Teddy.
After agreeing to adopt another dog , but at the Last Minute the existing owners decided to keep there dog . The Centre straight away worked hard to find us another dog .
The process was very through and they took so much care.
Teddy has now been with us for two days , but already feels like forever , he has settled in straight away and we have been lucky to have the chance to bring Teddy into his for ever home .
We could not reccomend The Dogs Trust enough , if you need to rehome your dog or if you are looking to give a new home to one of there dogs , they will always take great care , with the dogs future always in there mind .

Helpful profesional service
All the staff at the Manchester Dog's Trust centre were very supportive, helpful, professional, and knowledgeable. As I was rehoming a rather complicated dog with a difficult past history, we took the process very gently and it was obvious that they placed his well being in the centre of their concern which was so correct. It took a little time for the assessment and for me to build a relationship with the dog and I also became friends with the staff. The centre continues to provide support and interest which is very reassuring.

The staff at Dog's Trust are amazing
The staff at Dog's Trust are amazing, they chatted with us in-depth about our hopes for adopting. They went above and beyond to ensure that the match was right for the dog and ourselves, which is the most important part of the process.
There was also lots of information and aftercare available and offered if needed, to ensure a smooth transition.
4 months on and it's like our dog has always been here, she's very much part of the family.
The staff were friendly, the establishment was clean and well kept.
I'd highly recommend.

I would thoroughly recommend the dogs trust
We lost our beloved bullmastiff Bruce two months ago and although we were so upset we said “never again” it wasn’t long before we realised we couldn’t live without a dog in our family. We had seen the dogs trust TV show and knew it was only a 40 min drive from our home. The professionalism and compassion you see on the show is exactly what you experience when you walk through their door. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable, the whole process is set up to get the right match for you as a customer and more importantly for the dog. My advice? Listen to what the staff have to say and follow it, they know what they are doing and you won’t be disappointed. We now are the happy owners of a 1 year old French bulldog cross called Buddy who is an absolute star even though he is not what I would have chosen had I not had the help, support and care from the wonderful staff at the dogs trust. If you are in the market for a new canine companion then do a good thing and give a forever home o one of the dogs who really need one. I would thoroughly recommend the dogs trust.

Amazing, heartwarming experience!
From our first visit to the Leeds centre to “have a look” at the dogs in care, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We instantly fell in love with a gorgeous grey hound cross, and filled out the adoption form. We then had meetings with her throughout the week, and every staff member we met were very knowledgeable and helpful in answering our questions (as this is the first time we have adopted). I would recommend adopting to anyone, as we have completed our little family with our new furry friend!

Terrible experience and lack of support when truly needed
Can't comment on adoptions as I never adopted through them. However, I had a situation with my former dog. First, I was told that they could help me with his behaviour. I had adopted him before my mobility deteriorated and was never told the whole story. I was provided a bunch of links via email and told that for behavioural training I would have to pay a certain amount each session. Reduced, as I'm on a low income, but still would have to pay amounts not accessible for my circumstances. This is a charity which survives on humanitarian donations. When I told them that my health deteriorated drastically and that I was bedbound and in pain, therefore I needed to rehome him immediately, they told me they don't do emergencies and that with his behavioural issues no foster would accept him...as, they added, they usually foster the mildly behaved, easy to adopt dogs. Therefore, I was advised that my best bet was a specific breed's charity. In the end, I had to rehome him on my own and spend months physically debilitated, on heavy meds and in chronic inflammatory pain due to straining myself to care after him as they wouldn't help. Then, they have the audacity to tell that people are horrible when dogs end up neglected, but if someone develops a physical limitation and can't walk to look after their dog, they do nothing to help and provide a myriad of time consuming excuses for it. Just sharing my experience with them...
Update 17/09/2026 – Dear Dogs Trust,
If you truly read my review, you would know that my commentary was not in regard to your inability to provide support, which I would have kindly accepted, but rather the long list of excuses and inadequate reasoning provided for not helping due to my former dog's behavioural traits.
Now, as a charity that operates for the good of animals, it is not justifiable to leave one behind in a situation that could most likely have resulted in neglect simply because it was inconvenient for you to foster him and unlikely for him to be adopted without substantial intervention, which is what your own team communicated to me while I was on the phone with them.
So please refrain from providing further uncontextualised excuses.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are sorry to hear about the difficult circumstances you found yourself in and appreciate that needing to rehome a dog can be an extremely challenging and distressing situation.
We are sorry that we were not in a position to take your dog into our care at the time. We always do our best to help wherever we can when someone approaches us in the unfortunate position of needing to rehome their dog.
Unfortunately, each of our Rehoming Centres is currently full to capacity with dogs already waiting to find their forever homes. As a result, we simply cannot accommodate dogs on an emergency basis when there is no available kennel space. Our Rehoming Centres operate waiting lists, and we appreciate that this can be disappointing and frustrating for owners who are facing circumstances where they need help urgently.
We do try to make this position clear within the handover section of our website, which states: “We understand how challenging this time can be, and we are dedicated to helping wherever possible. To give every dog in our care the best attention, we operate at full capacity, so there is usually a wait before a kennel becomes available for immediate intake.”
We understand that this may not have been the outcome you had hoped for, particularly given the circumstances you describe. We genuinely try to help as many dogs and owners as we can, but unfortunately, our capacity means that we are not always able to provide immediate intake when a dog needs to be rehomed urgently.

I have recently adopted my beautiful boy..
I have recently adopted my beautiful boy Ernie and I can't thank the staff enough. From seeing our dog on the website to bringing him home the staff were nothing but helpful. We wanted to support our local branch…
We wanted to support our local branch so put in our application online. The next day we visited the branch as I hadn’t been for many years. We put our trust in the staff at the Dog Trust and their process.
The staff were always so engaging, helpful, friendly and professional.
We were matched to a dog within about six weeks, a dog that matched us perfectly. Our family of four visited Aspen and fell in love.
We then had a pre adoption chat, given lots of personalised information and leaflets. We met Aspen two more times and on our fourth time we were able to take him home.
We can’t thank all the lovely staff enough. They were all so wonderful.
