Had a fantastic night with Ditch or Date
Had a fantastic night at the Belfast speed dating event. It was my first time going to an event like this but I was put at ease by the relaxing atmosphere and host. The turn out was better than I anticipated and even though I didn't have any matches, I look forward seeing what the next event holds.

I attended a night a few weeks ago. There were much less men than women. It was also very disorganised. I was sat on my own for most of the night as there weren't enough men. I had to chase up an matches. And then Helen had the nerve to say she didn't have my number but she was able to message me and ask me to host the next one for £50! Helen does nothing apart from rake in the money and has the nerve to ask a participate to host the next event. Any wonder it is completely disorganised. And are you reporting this to hmrc that you are paying people cash in hand?? AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Were you the same person who messaged my from an unknown number then blocked me when I threatened to report you for being so aggressive?
I've also looked on our system and no Eve Martin exists - so I'm guessing you have an ulterior motive behind this review.
FYI Yes we do send out a blanket text to everyone on our database linked to the city where we have a host vacancy.
We did this for Belfast recently which resulted in us employing a lovely girl who had attended two of our events. We feel this is a good approach as the host has an experience of attending a speed dating event. 12 of our hosts throughout the UK have in the past attended an event - this approach works well.
You were in no way messaged directly - whoever you are Eve Martin??

Had such a great night in Tipsy Bird last week. Fun speed dating night - loved it. Can’t thank Jess the host enough and Helen for her advice beforehand due to my nerves - got 3 matches !! Everyone was lovely btw.

Avoid this woman at all costs. I booked an event that was advertised for a Saturday night, a couple of weeks later I happened to notice on the website that it had been moved to a Sunday, but Helen had not told me this. I turned up on the Sunday to find a woman hosting at the venue. I had to wait around for a good 40 minutes and was given no name badge. When we started the speed dating I quickly realised that there were much less men than women, which meant I was alone for a good part of the night. The host did not seem to participate very much, and this meant no one knew when to move on or where to move on to. When the event was over I handed my sheet in but as there was no name badges it was hard to remember who was who. The next night I waited on my email as promised by my host, I didn’t receive anything and had to chase this up with Helen. Helen was very slow at responding, so I decided to take the opportunity to give her feedback on the night. I pointed out that there were much less men than women and that defeats the purpose of speed dating. She promised up to 20 dates but there were less than 10 which is not what I paid for. I emailed Helen with the feedback and waited on a response. It took Helen 3 days to come back to me and she told me that her father had been ill. If you look at the reviews this is a reoccurring theme with Helen. Whenever anybody criticises her she pulls this card out, which is pretty disgusting. I had asked for a refund and again I have been ignored. So I would warn others, DO NOT ATTEND DITCH OR DATE. Helen is a con woman who does not respond and does not tell you the venue has changed. AVOID.

This email is an utter disgrace and a clear attack on me ( who btw has no father) which is none of your concern.
You emailed me with a different email address to what you booked with which confused things. I replied to you asking for your previous emails as because they were from a ‘ Disney’ account it didn’t match with who was listed on our event list.
The event date changed by one day 4 weeks prior to the event as it wasn’t meant to be on the Saturday it was an admin error which was soon recitatives. We texted everyone but you didn’t register your phone number and im guessing didn’t receive the email as you used a different one. If you realised the change but it didn’t suit then why attend ?
I can understand you were annoyed at getting no matches as the complaint emails weren’t sent until after you received your match email. I’d you’d been that unimpressed im guessing you’d have emailed us before that.
Our host was new and a little shy but we received lots of compliments that for her first event she tried hard. I’m sorry you didn’t feel this way.
You could log on at any time to see your matches and to enter your choices. This was explained to you by our host , is on our website and is also on the back of your sheet.
You did none of these.
The venue hadn’t changed. We always operate at Tipsy Bird so another incorrect fact.
It was noted on the night you weren’t that polite so this proves it.
Please do not contact me with rude emails any more.

Had a phenomenal experience when I went to Ditch or Date in Newcastle.
I have been single for a few years now and I thought I would give this a try.
I ended up being matched with some really profoundly great men.
Only problem I have now is to choose Which one I need to ditch or date.
Highly recommend this great company for helping me.

Terrible experience
Terrible experience. Lack of organisation on the night as others below such as Laura and Mark have refered to.
It got much worse after the event though as I had 'matched' with six people even though I only wanted four follow up dates. This presented me with a situation of being sent six email addresses of people I did not match with and presumably my email was shared with those six without my consent. I even recieved email addresses of people I hadn't even spoken to as the event was cut short due to people leaving throughout - presumably due to the lack of organistion.
I've been speaking with Helen, the owner, and she has been very reluctant to accept responsibility or offer any form of redress.
There are much better run speed dating events in Belfast.
No doubt this will get flagged by Helen, I'm happy to provide any information I can to Trust Pilot to verify what I've said.
Edit and reply: Hi Helen, Thanks for confirming there was two guys with the same name at the event which lead to this mistake. Did it occur to you to reach out to us to clarify the situation? No. You decided to send out incorrect matches. This is obviously a data handling/privacy issue. So you either don't know how to handle your customers data with care or you don't care. Which is it?

I have had numerous email communication with this gentleman- he didn’t put his full name on his sheet and also didn’t not enter his own choices onto our website which we do advise attendees to do so it gives them full control. There were two guys at the event with the same name.
Because I also accidentally misspelt ‘ entering’ I then receive this reply. I have tried to explain numerous times but the emails keep coming.
Part of his email yesterday:
To quote your last email to me 'That is why we advise you everting you’re own choices.'
I'm not exactly sure what this means so I looked up the definition of evert in the merriam-webster dictionary (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/evert)
The first definition provided is 'overthrow, upset' - I think you'll agree this would not be a polite way of conducting oneself on a date.
The second definition is 'subject to eversion', I wasn't sure what eversion means but the people at Merriam webster really know how to run a business and they kindly provided a link to its definition. Eversion 'the act of turning inside out: the state of being turned inside out'. Are you encouraging people to turn others inside out on your dating events? Again I'm sure you'll agree this not how one should conduct themselves in polite society, especially in the pursuit of romance.
Could you please clarify what you mean when you say 'That is why we advise you everting you’re own choice'
I have tried many times to explain to him but he still is determined to continue to send relentless emails.
Our host’s father had a heart attack a few hours before the event which meant that we had two events run by one host which made it very busy but we tried our very best. We had some lovely messages from people praising our host but also showing us understanding of how stressful our situation was.
Your comments don’t make sense so please stop editing your review with facts that don’t add up or dictionary research - I’ve tried politely on numerous occasions to explain to you that you should have logged into our website and entered your own choices.
Endless emails from you and edited reviews on here just don’t make any sense.
You received matches so focusing your time on arranging dates would be a much better use of time.
I won’t be replying any more to this.

Zero organisation
Zero organisation, after waiting an hour we were told to sit wherever we want and move about how we see fit. No numbers/name badges were provided and wth several instances of the same name, not a lot of clarity provided. I understand there were extenuating circumstances that caused the groups to be mixed, but the younger group definitely had a low headcount. About half way through the dvent, the organiser cancelled the event as "too many people had left" - can hardly blame them tbh. No apology from the company for what was an unsatisfactory experience. I've even had friend's being told they've matched with people they hadn't even spoken to, so data protection issues there as contact information has been given out without clear consent. Can't recommend at all.

We received upsetting news one hour prior to the event that our host who was meant to be running the younger event – her father had been rushed into hospital due to a heart attack.
Understandably there was no way she could run the event.
Due to the very short notice our other two hosts we are unable to arrange childcare. We did not want to cancel the event at such short notice for the younger age group as this would be very unfair on people who had started to get ready for this event and also who were already travelling to it. We contacted the bar who were very helpful and then rearranged tables to ensure that if both events we are running side-by-side it could be the best solution.
Our host put 100% effort into trying to ensure that everyone was okay and then everyone had a great time despite a couple of men making unkind comments then leaving.
We have received many emails from people who were very understanding and said they had a great night nearly almost everyone who was there received at least four matches – I’m sorry if this wasn’t the case for you.
We have not given out any personal information without people’s consent therefore I have reported this review to as this is certainly not the case. We were put in a very very difficult position due to no one’s fault and our priority was trying to make sure that everyone was accommodated and happy. I am so sorry that you did not feel this way but i we tried our best under the circumstances.
A great night
Overall an eventful night. Definitely something everyone needs to try at least once! I was matched with who I liked so can say it was a successful night. Everyone was friendly and it was a great atmosphere - would go again :) Only wish I could see if anyone opted to be my friend even if I didn’t.

I attended the speed dating event in Belfast on Sunday 13th February. It was a good event and all the other women were lovely but it was rather unorganised. It ended up where two age groups were mixed together (22-32 and 28-42). The men were lovely but it was very awkward when a 40+ year old man ended up on a speed date with a 25 year old or indeed younger. Out of my actual age category, I only got the opportunity to meet 3 men and the rest were from the other age category. This made it very difficult to potentially meet someone I would like to date.
The host did a fantastic job despite the challenges she faced and she apologised profusely for the chaos.
I would like to do this again as I believe in normal circumstances it would be better organised.

We are so sorry about this. We had two events planned last night.
One ages 28-42
One ages 22-32
Unfortunately the host who was running our 22-32 event - he father had a heart attack yesterday afternoon and was rushed into hospital. As she was understandably so distraught she was only able to inform us at 6.00 pm that she couldn’t host. We did try to get another host to run the second event but she was unable to get childcare at such short notice. We couldn’t cancel the younger event as this would be very unfair on everyone who had made plans for it. So we just had to try our best to run both together. The bar said they would try to help but they became short staffed too. We tried everything to get additional help.
I fully understand your disappointment but this never normally happens it was just a very tragic situation for our host and our host there last night tried her hardest. So sorry you felt you had to leave us a negative review but we did try to make the best of the situation.
If you would like to attend another event please let us know and we’ll add you at no charge.
