What happened to Community CoffeeâŠ
We have been drinking Community Coffee for probably 40 years. This weekend, October13, 2024, I bought two bags of Community coffee at our local Market Basket...one Cafe Blend and on Chicory Coffee. Both were absolutely horrible. When opened, there was no blast of coffee aroma. The grounds did not smell like coffee. In fact they smelled like fresh turned soil. We brewed a pot of each. Ugk. No coffee taste. Just a horrible taste. What happened?

Community Coffee American Classic pre-ground coffee
This review is of the Community Coffee American Classic pre-ground coffee.
This coffee was purchased at my local supermarket with a sale price of $4.50 for a 12 ounce package. It was packaged in the familiar Community Coffee red mylar/foil resealable bag. It had an expiration date 6 months into the future. Upon opening the bag I found a medium grind medium roast coffee. This is a blend of 100% Arabica beans as stated on the bag but nothing else is known about the coffee origin. This coffee had little to no coffee fragrance.
I used my standard 50 grams of coffee to 40 ounces of filtered water for brewing. When brewing it had little coffee aroma. Upon cupping again I noticed little to no aroma. Tasting the coffee it was bitter with an astringent mouth feel. I tried adjusting the amount of coffee to water ratio but to no avail this coffee was just plain bitter with no discerning tasting notes. I read another review somewhere about this coffee stating that this was the perfect diner coffee which is what prompted me to purchase it. To me this was some of the worst coffee I have ever tasted. 1.5 stars out of 5 and I am being generous and a cupping score of 71.25. I do not recommend this coffee.

I drank New orleans blend with chicoryâŠ
I drank New orleans blend with chicory for 20 or so years. Last bag i bought was different though, it was weak. Had to use tree times as much to make a cup and it still did not taste same. I'll miss my old coffee.
