I was contacted yesterday by the Forest of Dean branch to be informed they had my two missing cats and had had them for weeks . These cats had been reported missing and photos put on all social media sites in the area alongside the vets being informed and reported lost with Pet trac.
Not only has one of the cats had kittens to which apparently I am not allowed back as ‘the cat wasn’t pregnant when it went missing ‘ I was told by the lady at the Forest of Dean branch, they have also re-homed two of the four kittens and my male cat as well as neutered the mother cat.
To say I am furious would be an understatement and will not be giving up without seeking legal advice. I want my cats back!
As a charity that states it helps with lost cats I am disgusted with the behaviour and tone of the lady who contacted me. She obviously has no care for cats and is out to make money illegally

We have had many kittens over the years from Cats Protection in Chelmsford they are a very caring Community and always visit the premises before we are allowed to take a kitten home, I give them all my old towels, cat food and pay monthly from my phone to help out

Cats Protection rehomed a number of feral cats and kittens with me over the years. Although I no longer live at a farm I brought five of them with me to my new home. Four live with me in the house and one still prefers to live in my gardening shed. Cats protection were great at catching, vet checking, vaccinating and neutering them all before delivery them to me. I am very grateful to them for a wonderful service.

Cornwall cat protection staff were very helpful when we were looking for another cat/cats. We found the website easy to use and saw two cats (sisters) needing a new home. The staff were knowledgeable and the cats are now settling in their new home with us. The information packs and email links contained useful information about caring for cats.

I was helping feeding feral cats at a feeding station and asked if the cats protection had any feral/semi feral cats looking for a countryside home. And I got jelly belly she came from a cat hoarder and was pregnant at 10 months old. She came home after being spayed and hated everyone but now she is the most loving little lady I'd be lost without

I live in the countryside surrounded by big oak trees and fields. I have a garden but I don't own it because of this I was turned down..So I spent £350 buying a kitten.

We have looked after cats of a neighbour who passed away. It took Cats Protection 6 months!!!!! to get back to our emails asking if they could help us rehome the animals! Due to rent restrictions they had to live in a shed as we couldn't have them in the house. We ended up finding homes for couple of them ourselves I will never support a charity who does not even bother to reply to communication!!!!!

adopted our lovely cat (Sasha) 3 months ago. she was house trained from the beginning, litter trained, doesn’t scratch the furniture and is always home around 8ish every night. Only downside is she’s always moaning for food 😬. With cats protection, it couldn’t have gone smoother. Highly recommend 👍

The way I was treated by someone when I was invited in to see a kitten was awful. As an experienced cat owner and breeder I was made to feel stupid and was talked down to for most of the conversation. She obviously didn’t have the time to spend for us to see the kitten! I was also told I had a whole week to collect my chosen cat, however I was given one time slot on one day and it was take it or leave the kitten. She then continued the pain via a call to give me all the information needed, which was helpful, but again delivering such a patronising way.

I was very disappointed to have to leave a volunteer post I enjoyed because of another very bossy volunteer who made untoward comments about my religion (among other things).
When I raised the issue I was told that "management were aware of it" and that they had been "told about their behaviour".
Well it seems it's all fallen on deaf ears and they are continuing to voice their half-baked opinions.
It no longer affects me as I have left, which is a shame.

Now I have a reply asking me to contact various people who I have never heard of.
Whether or not they will take my concerns seriously remains to be seen.

Update. 26/3/26 still no response from Head Office. Why should I chase the admin dept of a company that doesn't care about its volunteers?
There's not much point giving me an e-mail address when no-one replies ! They don't answer the 'phone either.

Enquired about adopting a cat and cats protection didn't even reply to me. Im 55 with no children in the house and no other pets so assumed an ideal person for a cat. They didn't even reply to me. So is cat protection just a scam pretending to be a charity?

I contacted a lady who currently volunteers for cats protection who said she could help me as I have 26 rescue cats and kittens to care for. I currently have 8 to neuter and am unable to get any help or support at all no one will call me back and all I hear is we cannot help. I am supporting an elderly lady feed her feral cats and kittens. She’s using all her pension to pay and care for her cats and kittens. I am having to get my food from food banks as my cash is spent on my cats 🐈‍⬛. There is no help at all from any agencies now all they do is give you numbers to ring or signpost you to other departments who say they cannot help and round and round we all go. I am currently writing a book on my experiences and am contacting local and national newspapers as the only help we will get is from other cat lovers as these charities can no longer help at all. I have rescued hundreds of cats in the last 40 years it’s never ever been this bad. Where is all the money going because millions is invested in cats protection and other agencies. It’s a very sad time for animals and animal owners. Maybe we should all donate to people we know to help them directly and not agencies or organisations as a lot goes on paying people’s wages and not on the pets.

I supported Cats Protection for years, well not anymore, and I will make sure to tell everyone I know that people working for them are deluded, insane and should not be near animals!!

C from Lea Valley Branch is a nasty, nasty liar. Her aim in life is not to save cats' lives and cats' well-being, but to feed her ego as she is a fragile, sad human being.

I never experienced anything like this and I will never trust cat's protection.

She originally came to help a colony we discovered and were helping. She started doing her "own stuff" without cats protection , leaving us in the dark, worried about the well-being of the cats, until we started pressuring her on what was going on with the cats and kittens she was taking and she revealed her true colours. We were extremely worried and left in the dark. She has no people skills and no empathy for people. This woman doesn't care about cats; she only cares about feeding her own ego.
I am absolutely disgusted by her lies and spreading hate towards people. I am disgusted by Cats Protection not taking action against her. She has brought someone on the verge of suici.e with her bullying and lies. These people MUST be stopped. I lost all trust in Cats Protection and animal charities in general. My heart goes out to those poor cats that are left in the hands of these people.

If anyone can call me from Cats Protection I will be willing to talk to them about this.

Myself and my husband adopted a cat from Cats Protection last year in September 2024. Rupert (our cat) became poorly a few days before we were due to collect him and Cats Protection couldn’t have helped us more.
They gave us the option of taking away the medication they were now using and bringing Rupert home or keeping him in Cats Protection for a few more days in a comfortable environment. Needless to say we were keen to keep him comfortable and they cared for him so well and kept us updated.
Fast forward a few months and Rupert was urinating around the home (something we have never encountered before with any cat we have owned). Cats Protection were happy to help and advise what we could do about this and put us in touch with a behaviourist - who helped massively!
We now have a happy, healthy cat at home with us.
