DO NOT use Carpet One Newport
DO NOT use Carpet One Newport!
This is the worse company to involve something as important as your home with. I am writing this review for homeowners to have an arsenal of information as to why Carpet One Newport is a terrible company that is not to be trusted.
Before the job started in December 2016, we had our carpet, vinyl, tax strips, and staple strips, removed. We hauled all of that away ourselves to insure the job would be completed within a few days.
Among other things, the invoice stated "install primed wood base". The crew was not given that information and since it was not on their work order they did not install base with our carpet. They left our home with no wood base, the end caps were never sealed, floor molding had fallen off the transition in kitchen and laundry area and the laminate in two different areas was floating incorrectly.
I left several messages to the sales representative that was on our invoice. Since I was not getting a response, I went back in person. Since the sales representative was Anthony Clifton the front desk could only pass on the information. This went on until April 2017.
After 4 months he sent another person to do the job.
After adding the wood base and one end cap nothing else was complete.
After paying Carpet One Newport $8,420.79 it has gotten worse.
One of the charges was $270.00 for labor just to move washer, dryer, fridge, and toilet. For 2 weeks we could not figure out were the gas smell was coming from. We contacted NW Natural and they arrived in less than an hour. It was called an "unsatisfactory hazardous condition". The CONDITION NEEDS ATTENTION was the "Flex Connector" that was not installed and connected correctly. NW fixed that.
There are parts of the laminate that are raising in big bubbles, there are items that were left under the carpet in our living room, there are areas with molding that was stapled to the wall instead of sealed and the two open transition areas that are exposed are now fraying the carpet. Since the end cap was never secured we use tape to make sure we do not trip.
The floor is getting worse. After agreeing to a meeting on September 22, at 4:00pm and Anthony still was not there at 5:00, I called to make sure he was still coming. The front desk said they were closing at 5:30pm so he should be here soon. I waited until 6:00pm and he never arrived and never called me back.
Carpet One Newport is NOT a member of the Better Business Bureau so I hope the information in this review helps. So again:
DO NOT use Carpet One Newport.
