Good on sales, but poor aftersales support.
I bought a Land Rover Discovery from this dealer and immediately encountered serious issues.
The day after delivery, I reported that the deployable towbar was missing and sent photos clearly showing the exposed fixing points and wiring. Only recently, a third party identified that the mandatory rear crash bar (a structural safety component) was also missing, something the dealer failed to disclose despite having "inspected" the car prior to delivery and having clear images I sent them from the start.
A few days after taking delivery, I drove the car abroad and experienced severe vibration at high speed, forcing emergency repairs in the EU just before Christmas. I paid £400 to straighten buckled wheels, and discovered they’d been poorly spray painted over the damage, with the paint peeling off. Back in the UK, I had to arrange further work and, after days of back and forth, the dealer eventually agreed to pay £380 towards powder coating, roughly what I’d already spent on straightening. I wasn't even asking for the £400 repairs cost to be reimbursed.
I reviewed my position on the repair cost for the wheels. I am now seeking full reimbursement for the wheel repairs carried out abroad due to this new development and failure to inform me of the missing safety component. So far, the dealer has agreed to reinstate the missing crash bar only after significant inconvenience and negotiation. I've now escalated the case to the third party and await the independent inspection.
Overall, my experience has been poor: inadequate checks (the towbar wasn’t tested), lack of disclosure about safety critical issues, and weak aftersales support. I also had to chase proof of the supposed predelivery service, and the pollen filter was clearly old, so I’m not convinced the service was actually done. I’m now waiting on an independent report.

I find the response rather strange, as it reads as they were unaware of the issues raised. That is not the case. These matters have been discussed in detail over an extended period, including the missing structural crash bar, the wheel repairs, and the reimbursement request.

Following their Trustpilot reply stating they are willing to work towards resolving the matter, I contacted the dealership directly 0n 23/02/2025 to clarify whether they genuinely intend to do so. After 10 days, I have received no response. As a result, the public reply appears to be a generic copy and paste response rather than a genuine attempt to resolve the issues. Therefore, I'm downgrading my review to one star.

For clarity, the sales experience and presale communication were excellent, and I initially recommended them. Unfortunately, the aftersales handling and service response have been very disappointing and have significantly undermined that positive experience.

The matter remains under review with a third party pending independent inspection.

From viewing the car for the first time to collection from the immaculate showroom , everything went well . Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for anyone .
I will definitely buy my next car here and recommend anyone looking to buy to try Car City .

After buying a car late September I will never use this car sales again,
The car was not there to view when I arrived, so we dealt with the paper work, all sorted, then the car came it looked great until closer inspection,
Even though it just passed MO T its two front tyres hardly had any tread, there was no spare wheel even though it was advertised as having one, the milage had 5000 more miles on, it had no sat nav memory card, on closer looking the bonnet had a really bad respray, and tto top it of no spare key, they did say they would put things right, but they never did, so check everything before signing any paperwork,

I would give 0 stars if I could, after speaking to Trevor about a car that I was interested in since last Thursday he rang me on Monday about the finance, I had a few questions for him, he said he will get back to me regarding that the same day, so we could do the deal. I find out after knowingly keeping me on hold, they go and sell the vehicle to somebody else who come along Monday afternoon, I only found out by going on their website and it said sold, they didn’t even ask me for a deposit. I would’ve happily paid. I wasn’t sure of the process, which they should know, I think it’s a lack of customer/sales service, and also lying to their customers I’m in Business myself and when somebody’s in front of the queue they get served first, standard practice right? Spoke to the Manager after, he was rude. He told me not to put a bad review on, not sure what he meant about that, lack of communication again, but I decided to do it anyway.

Due to circumstances out of my control a car we had bought we could no longer keep. The guys at Car City made me feel comfortable throughout and Simon helped sort the finance out so I didn’t have to pay anything. My deposit was also returned the same day. Fantastic service and communication throughout and in the future when we can, I will certainly return to this garage just due to the compassion that was shown!

Service Excellent
The very start of my journey of thinking to coming home with my Alfa. I was left alone to inspect the car sit in and test drive with just myself and the wife was a wonderful experience. Daniel was there once I made the decision to move to purchasing the Alfa , every job I asked Daniel to do before my collection day he pulled it out of the bag seamlessly. He ask when I would like to collect my Alfa as I have a business to run, which other garages push you to get the car out of there hands , Not with Daniel, quote (just let me know when you want to come and I will take care of everything) Daniel you came through with everything you promised, well done Daniel , simply lovely experience.

Steve made it very easy to buy the new car and not the usual pushy sales pitch, easy hand over on Saturday morning.

Honestly one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. We lived about 500 miles away from where the car was located and Daniel, along with other members of staff at Car City, helped get our dream car to us.
From friendly phone calls, detailed videos, help with finance, and delivery of the car, each part of the journey was stress free.

I had an excellent experience with Car City UK from start to finish. The staff were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with no pushy sales tactics at all, which made the whole process stress-free. They took the time to understand what I was looking for and helped me find the perfect car within my budget.
The quality and selection of vehicles were impressive, and everything was clean, well-maintained, and fairly priced. I really appreciated how transparent they were with the history and condition of the car, which gave me complete peace of mind.

I am generally a trusting person who thinks the best of people and give them the benefit of the doubt so it is with reluctance that I have to report a significant deficiency in this car dealer.
BE CAREFUL when you buy from here as you will probably find that the car has not been prepared/serviced/checked to an acceptable level.
My car was supposedly given a service prior to sale but the adblue light was on and an intermittent fault was present from the moment I took the car for a test drive.
The fault was eventually fixed (3 weeks). As mentioned in other reviews the communications from the dealer are very poor, they even returned the car without checking if I was going to be home. As I wasn’t, they then drove my car 166 miles back to the dealership to have to come back the following day!
There is also an issue with promising to do things for you and then not doing them without explanation. (Supply of second key, provision of a handbook)
CHASE UP WHAT THEY SAY as it may seem that once you have paid your money they don’t seem interested in any problems or fulfilling the promises made to get the sale.
(I have since heard from the company and they have apologised for their communication issues. It seems that they are very busy and some things ‘fall through the net’ when it comes to communicating. I have upgraded my rating as I believe they are sincere in trying to provide a good service but sometimes have not the resources to provide the A1 service they profess)

I seen a vehicle on their website, called up and spoke to a salesman. He did a video for me in all the close up I asked for.
In between this process I checked on trustpilot for reviews and honestly they got me worried.
After speaking to a friend that bought their 2nd car from Car City I was reassured that people only ever come on sites to leave bad reviews not many come out there way to write a good one. Hence why I am writing one now.
This company has been absolute dream to deal with, right from the first call to picking the vehicle up.
I’ve even just received my £100 for recommending a friend.
I will definitely be buying my next car from Car City.
