Great that you have more Women’s only…
Great that you have more Women’s only sessions, but would be good to have hip abducter in the women’s sessions too or abs trainer as those are the exercises that women need to do but feel uncomfortable in front of men .

crap membership
facilities are nice membership is rubbish you cant even use the gym without buying into a swimming pass or some sort of fitness class so just overpriced as you have no choice as to get both a pass and to be able to use the gym too

Fab centre!
Would love to see more women only swim sessions - especially that don’t clash with rush hour.
Fantastic disabled facilities- just maybe needs a bit of upkeep, otherwise great.
Some small maintenance of gym equipment needed.
Would also love some beginner classes for women- they look pretty intimidating!
Otherwise it’s a great experience!

Just when you think this place can't…
Based on below response it's £45 a month membership at this place so it isn't cheap (30% increase in 2 years) and everything is falling apart, instead of fixing things they just remove stuff.
They had around 10 floor mats now down to 4! A third of gym is closed off because of water leaks for past few months. It's a joke of a place, do yourselves a favour join somewhere else because you'll be facing 15% increases every year for a big fat ZERO!
Just when you think this place can't get any worse, after a 30% increase in prices the gym flooded 3 weeks ago leaving a third of the gym off limits.
They keep promising they are going to improve/replace equipment but nothing is ever done.
They won't even spend £50 on getting some rollers, which is beyond belief as these are cheap and basic gym items and especially bad after increasing prices by almost 50% in 2 years, making it one of the most expensive gyms in the area.
This place is an absolute disgrace, old broken equipment, parts falling off, nothing ever fixed, very poor management.

We understand your frustration, particularly around the recent price increases and the condition and availability of facilities and equipment. This is certainly not the standard we aim to provide, and we’re disappointed to hear that key areas of the gym have been unavailable and that maintenance concerns have not been addressed as expected, especially as over £3 million has been invested in our Newham centres.
Your comments regarding the flooring space, equipment shortages, and the ongoing impact of the flooding are very important. We will ensure this is raised with the management team at the centre so they can review the situation and take the appropriate action. We also recognise how important it is that any planned improvements are communicated clearly and delivered in a timely manner.
We genuinely value your membership and feedback, and we’re sorry that your recent experiences have led to this level of dissatisfaction.

Atherton gym is nothing "better"
Atherton gym is nothing "better", bad odors, dirty equipment, no music most of the days due to "contractors issues". Just sad place to be in and nothing healthy abiut it. Mold in the deinking fountains.. just bad, not better

Quick swift response to my query
I contacted Better via Facebook Messenger to request a one-month freeze for swimming lessons at Atherton leisure centre for my children due to Ramadan. I received a response within the hour, my request was accepted, and my account was credited accordingly. I was also reassured that my children would not lose their place when they resume lessons after Ramadan.
Rachel was extremely helpful. Thank you to all the staff who dealt with my query so swiftly and efficiently.

About the gym
The scan to enter the gym does not work all the time.
Several equipments do not work in the gym.
The gym is extremely dirty does not appear like it has been cleaned.
The work out matts are all damaged.
Bins are never emptied. There are never staff around if you need assistance.
