Arrogant staff, coffee and cake inedible and overpriced
I went to Benuga in John Lewis Edinburgh today, for coffee and cake. The carrot cake was dried up the skinny latte was far too strong and bitter as if it had been stewing for hours. My John Lewis card offered money off ie coffee for a £1 if you buy cake at Benuga. The member of staff was so abrupt indicating they don’t take John Lewis cards, I didn’t bother showing the app, as her behaviour was a disgrace. I certainly won’t be back. A day when I was celebrating my birthday I couldn’t be bothered with the hassle. I will certainly tell my friends and family to avoid this place!
Will Not Go Back
We went to the Edinburgh branch in John Lewis . John Lewis used to have a great cafe . Now they have this cafe running in their store . Huge lack of choice , tasteless food and over inflated prices . Not to mention the lack of comfy seating . Couldn’t be much worse . Not what I would expect from John Lewis .
Absolutely appalling customer service!
My husband, adult daughter and I, went for a birthday, at the restaurant at Saville Gardens, in Englefield Green, Egham, Surrey.
Such a huge disappointment & frustrating time.
The customer service was appalling, almost nonexistent and it wasn’t even busy at the time, as we arrived at 3pm for a late lunch.
We were shown to a table immediately and given menus, but then left waiting to order, for around 15/20 minutes!
Waiters were wandering around, not doing much at all and not looking to see if anyone needed service.
I called out to a waiter to ask if we could please order, he just nodded from afar, but walked on without coming over to us…… so I then called out to another waiter, who didn’t exactly rush over to us either.
He took our order of three ‘mains’ (no drinks … we asked for tap water) and they took awhile to come.
The food was ok, nothing special to be honest.
We then asked for 2 coffees and 1 tea to have after we’d finished eating. He took our order and disappeared. Ages passed …. no hot drinks arrived. We could see the kitchen/coffee machine from where we were seated and no one was preparing coffees or teas!
Feeling quite exasperated, my daughter went over to the two waiters who were just standing, chatting by the coffee making area and asked what was happening about our hot drinks!
He said someone was about to make them for us!! She told him that we were not happy with the nonexistent service we had received and asked him to cancel the hot drinks order and to just give us the bill, as we had wanted time to walk around the gardens before it was too late.
She came back to join us and we waited an eternity, before having to ask yet again, for the bill.
When the bill was finally given to us, my daughter saw immediately, that the hot drinks had been charged for!
He took it away, to amend it and came back with a new bill, which still had one tea charged for!
By this stage, we were totally shocked at the unbelievable experience we had had there!
He went away for the second time to amend it …. came back with a corrected bill for just 3 burgers and just handed it to me, waiting for payment.
We certainly did not leave a tip as we had received absolutely no customer service whatsoever…. and not one apology, from any of the waiters, at any stage of our dreadful experience.
We do not intend to ever eat or drink at that venue again.
Absolutely appalling!
A rip-off
Went to the Benugo franchise in the crypt at St Paul's Cathedral in London. Should have known better. We'd intended using the M&S that had been nearby the last time we visited, admittedly pre-pandemic. Only, it was no longer there. The price for two small (make that measly) lattes, ditto a cappuccino, two tuna sandwiches and a ham and cheese baguette (on its use-by date no less)? The thick end of thirty English pounds. Might as well call it legal larceny!
Attentive staff, shame about the food.
The staff were very attentive, but as we hadn’t booked they squeezed us in and said we had to out in 45 minutes. Service was slow and my food was expensive and not very good. I had confit duck, which was very oily, with rather sad vegetables. Ambience bad, food poor, staff good.
Absolutely appalling!!
Absolutely appalling!!! So i tried to order from a tablet in the Science Museum over a week ago - the tablet failed taking £60.50 from my account. Tried to speak to staff who would not help and issued me an email to contact. Been emailing every day! No response and no help. NO CONTACT NUMBER to speak to a person to resolve. As the cafe is separate Museum cannot help. The worst service ever
Visited Benugo Serpentine yesterday…
Visited Benugo Serpentine yesterday after completing the Target Ovarian Cancer charity 10k run. What we believed to be a treat having a nice lunch aside the serpentine, turned out the worst ever restaurant experience. The full English breakfast priced £16 was far from full, comprising of one sausage split down the middle, one mushroom two thin slices of bacon and a spoonful of beans. The fried potato cubes were missing, when challenged as to why they eventually arrived on a separate plate and only half cooked. They were inedible. Absolute disgrace, my family were so disappointed and vowed we would never eat at this restaurant chain again.
Love it
I go to Benugo in Hyde Park . Cannot praise them highly enough . The staff are so friendly , the coffee is always delicious . We go every day with our dogs . They are happy to give the dogs a drink and are so welcoming . All the staff go out of their way . All the regulars that use the park say the same . Spotlessly clean as well . Sets you up for the day !

Went to the one in St Jame's Park
Food was ok but menu doesn't have the sandwiches. Asked where the loo was and staff rudely said we could only go if we were customers (which we were). Loo experience was appalling. Went to mention to the manager who said they clean it every half hour and it is the peoples fault!
Pretty bad experience
St Pancras. Customer service ok, quality of the bacon and sausage roll appalling. Was super heated and badly burned my mouth. It exploded as I bit into the unbuttered stale wafer like bread roll that was hotter than the sun inside. Not to be repeated.
Hyde Park
Hyde Park
Særdeles kedelig cæsarsalat (uden den annoncerede bacon) til høj pris.
Willen Lake, Milton Keynes - very poor
Till staff confused and badly trained.
Processes to get a croissant(!) unclear and ultimately let to not getting a croissant at all.
“Manager” (still can’t believe he was actually a manager) clueless, hands in pockets and failed to offer any kind of solution.
Staff wandering around asking literally everyone if they had ordered a bacon bap.
Not surprising, given the standard of the staff taking orders.
Saw other customers complaining about similar issues.
Basically don’t bother going.
Glasgow location not the best
Filthy!
just nowNEW
I'll start with the positives. The view was fabulous and the pizzas were delicious however the staff need training in basic customer service, some pretty sarky comments received upon making basic requests and the cleanliness was absolutely horrendous. It all generally needed a clean but the bathrooms looked like no one had cleaned them since opening. There were faeces all over the toilets and seats, some toilets were missing lids. My hands felt dirtier after washing them in those sinks. They were more dirty than any nightclub/pub toilets I've ever been in and honestly it's just completed unacceptable. There really is no excuse for a level of cleanliness that bad. It seems there is so much potential here and with some better staff training and daily cleaning it could be a wonderful place. I really hope it improves as I would like to visit again.
I love the chai latte of this company
I love the chai latte of this company, sadly they are not any longer in liverpool street
Benugo at willen lake Milton Keynes…
Benugo at willen lake Milton Keynes Lack of choice poor quality and massively OVERPRICED!!!
Staff appear unfriendly not helpful.
Such a shame they closed the other cafe to build this new one.
Remembrance meal
Ate at Benugo’s as part of a Remembrance day for my late father. Friendly welcome on arrival. Pizzas were tasty and service was great. Lovely location. Special thanks to Marc for taking extra care of us on what was an emotional day.
