I’ve bought air conditioning units from this company twice. Both experiences have been awful.
I paid for next-day delivery, which never happened. I rang customer service and they promised me a 50% refund, which never arrived either. As an apology, they gave me a £10 credit to use on my next order. I couldn’t use either the voucher or the credit because their systems wouldn’t let me. I ended up paying for the product at full price.
It seems nobody cares about what’s happening with the order, and I had to keep chasing them up constantly. They finally delivered it a week later. So far, it’s been a very disappointing experience.

Absolutely awful customer service and a faulty item
Absolutely awful customer service. They sent me a faulty unit and then refused to arrange a refund stating that it’s likely not faulty but that it’s my fault for not using it correctly. Ridiculous. I sat on the phone for ages with their service centre who didn’t know what they were doing, who offered me a return only then to get rude emails from them stating they would not return my item. £600 for a unit that doesn’t even get cold - an over rated fan. So so disappointed. Do not buy from these guys. They even told me the reason they aren’t offering refunds is because this is happening all the time! So they’re effectively sending lots of faulty units out to people and refusing returns.

The worst customer service I have experienced in years
I bought an Electriq portable air conditioner advertised as a 14,000 BTU unit. From day one, its performance was nowhere near what I expected from a machine with that advertised cooling capacity.
When I raised this with Appliances Direct, they did everything possible to avoid addressing the actual issue. I repeatedly asked them to provide evidence supporting the advertised 14,000 BTU specification. After weeks of emails, they still refused to provide any technical documentation or evidence to support one of the product’s headline advertised claims.
Instead, they repeatedly changed the subject. I was initially sent the wrong manual, then told it was the correct one, before eventually receiving a different manual. They repeatedly claimed the unit was “set up incorrectly” but it took numerous emails before they would even explain what they believed was wrong. Once I answered that point, they simply introduced new ones.
At no stage did I feel they were genuinely interested in investigating my complaint. Every response felt like an attempt to avoid responsibility rather than engage with the issues I was raising.
They have now refused to replace the unit, refused to provide any evidence supporting the advertised specification I questioned, and told me they will simply respond to my bank regarding the chargeback.
If this is how Appliances Direct handle complaints about their own Electriq products, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. Selling a product is easy. Standing behind it when a customer raises legitimate concerns is what really matters, and in my experience they have completely failed to do so.

It’s a call Scam. Premium number cost me £15 to connect
So I called aircon direct on their 0871 number and it’s not only a premium number but has a massive network connection charge. Just got my mobile bill through and for 10 minutes call I was billed £15 by EE. I was on hold for 8 minutes of those 10. Don’t deal with the company it’s a call scam

Quick Delivery, good service.
Service was very good, delivery was prompt and updated regularly. I had to chase a few things to get the process moving but once I did i got results. The only negative is the ac unit I ordered came with a 3 amp fuse and blew immediately so had to replace the fuse myself

Reliable and trustworthy
Delivered when promised and AC as expected. We took a chance ordering a fairly expensive unit given that we’d never heard of the company before, but we needn’t have worried. It was hard to find any portable AC and this has made such a difference.

Faulty product with missing components
Absolutely would not recommend this company. I was sent a faulty portable air conditioning unit. It did not come with the window installation kit as advertised in the product listing. This whole experience has wasted a huge amount of my time, as having the product sent back for testing and repairs will take upwards of 2 weeks. Sales order number 57496437
