I took out a policy with this company 3…

I took out a policy with this company 3 weeks before my renewal was due and paid the policy in full. 1 month later I find a charge pending on my card account for £59.75 when g contacted 1st central they said it was because my no claims was 21 years and not 19 like I'd put on my proposal form therefore I had a £9.75 for the amendment and a £50 change of policy fee !
I was polite at all times and asked if this extortionate fee could be removed and the lady I spoke to said the only way would be to cancel my policy (obviously incurring a further £50 policy change and payments for the insurance used )what a total rip off company I'll stick with the big companies in future. No wonder they were so cheap (initially)

Just awful

1st Central Law were the default lawyers for 1st Central car insurance. When I was hit and injured in 2022 I was forced to use them.
They are terrible. Unresponsive and uncooperative. I can only presume they don't employ enough staff to do the work.
At a time when I needed the most support dealing with injury, they just made my life even more stressful.
Leave well alone. I would give them zero stars if I could.

Don’t waste your time.

Honestly, don’t use First Central Law.

On 05/11/22 I had a collision where I went through a green filter right light, and an Audi A4 set off from stationary (red) and slammed into my left side.

My partner suffered a neck injury, however me and my toddler were fine luckily. My car was also written off. The third party was able to drive away after exchanging details.

After a few days, both 1st Central, Greater Manchester Police, the DVLA and myself were unable to find ANY insurance policy for the third party. GMP (Police) confirmed with me that they did NOT have any insurance at the time of the collision. Then, three days later, they took out a policy. (8/11/22)

1st Law gave the third party 30 days to respond, if they did not, it would default to their fault, and we would be paid out for any claims & it would not affect my NCB.

Would you guess it, 35 days passed, no word from third party, but then for some reason, 1st Central decided in the third party’s favour after the third party provided a false, fabricated “witness statement” about someone who stopped to check. No one stopped to check. At all.

Then, believe it or not, 1st central ignored me, for a total of seven months. Seven months of no response, multiple emails, and nothing. Then in June 2023, they replied saying they were re-staffing.

Oh, and that the crash was my fault. As such, my insurance doubled. Oh and they wouldn’t provide a courtesy car either. Enterprise didn’t either, took them 8 weeks to arrange it. By which time I thought a new car.

Long story short, this company are a p take, and will absolutely shaft you. They do not care for their clientele, and I’ve had better comms from a tree.

I wouldn’t use 1st Law if you paid me. Essentially made my life a misery for nearly a year.

Oh, yeah, they also ignored direct instruction from Manchester Police to investigate the third party’s lack of insurance. Dodgy af.

Charged £100 to cancel the policy before it started. Removed a car from the policy before it…

Removed a car from the policy before it started and got charged £50 so cancelled the policy. Got charged another £50. Getting in touch with the Consumer Association to check my rights. Entitled to a cooling off period so why should I be charged two arrangement fees for a policy that has not even started. Glad I am not insured with them. Was told I should have read the Terms and conditions. Sticking with NFU so so trustworthy even though the premium is higher.

Was dealing with them for 2 years, USELESS no resolution, can't decide if more 'expert' advice is needed in relation to my claim. Niw the cheeky f#@ckers have passed me onto Carpenters group who are even worse!!!!!

They charge 35% out of your claim amount, for their “service”c yet their service includes the occasion online portal reply. You are not allowed to call them, they give no advice or help. They then swapped my law company half way through to and even more lack of contact and removed my portal with no pre warning so I now cannot even access my documents. They take advantage expecting you to sign documents straight after your accident. They don’t keep you up to date, it’s taken around 6 months and still no payout.

Avoid. No idea about customer service

Was forced into a low offer and lied to
Turns out they were being taken over probably because they are a ridiculous company who hasn't got a clue.
They portal they make your use is dreadful you never get a reply
Good help you if you need to actually speak to a person.
They are currently holding my money and no idea when. It will be transferred to me and can't speak to a tone to find out

This company are a complete shambles

This company are a complete shambles, this company will not return a response to emails telephone messages,and you certainly will never get to speak to anyone. My claim has been going on since May 22 and even after agreeing an amount of money some 5 weeks ago I have been unable to make contact with anyone since. This company is part of 1st Central insurance who provided me with legal cover, but they also have not got a clue.
STAY WELL AWAY as this company has left me in doubt whether I will ever see my money.

After being involved in an accident…

After being involved in an accident almost three years ago which was not my fault this was dealt with poorly. All information was provided by me, the other party were declaring no fault so this ended up going to Court. 1st Central Law ended up not filing the correct documents and reports from the court were that they did not understand their basic duties in regards the Court. They then did not make the payment required to the other party which resulted in me being chased by debt collection agencies and a CCJ which I did not know about for five months and another £2500 out of my own pocket to try and get this removed to no avail. I complained several times and have been ignored, I have currently escalated this to the financial ombudsmen as my long term credit is now affected because of blunder after blunder by this company.

Stay far away from this company.....

Stay far away from this company unless you like to waste your time. Poor customer services do not meet SLA and your told different wrong information each time you call. If you are not computer literate or vulnerable they will leave you in the dark. They want you to get feed up of chasing them. This is like a part time job trying to get anything done.

This is the worst company I have ever…

This is the worst company I have ever used for insurance. A bus hit me and they will not take liability for it. Even though the bus side swept me from the side with cctv , now 1st central have Babe , I have Accepted libility without my consent This claim was going on for nearly a year. And I done all the work. Do not get insurance by this company. They are fraud company 100%

The rating is actually zero

The rating is actually zero, just like their communication! My claim is still ongoing due to them losing my claim for a period of 5 weeks. I’ve had to constantly chase and do their work for them! My physiotherapy was massively delayed and they then questioned why I needed more sessions, they was completely oblivious to the treatment I was actually receiving, the physiotherapist had to email them on my behalf. They recently tried to bully me into signing a statement of truth that was riddled with errors then tried accusing me of refusing to sign which would lead to legal action against me!! How can I sign something that wasn’t true?
You can’t get through on the phone and the one time I was answered after a 55minute wait they put the phone down saying you’re not our only customer!!
Emails are not signed and written in a very unprofessional way, the portal is a nightmare and I’m constantly being asked to resend photos ect even though they’ve already been sent several times already. Will 100% be taking things further in regards to complaints if my case is ever finished!! I don’t think I’ve ever had the misfortune to deal with such an unprofessional, rude and disrespectful company until now. I’m actually dreading the final outcome of my non fault claim.

Please save yourself the nightmare

Please, please save yourself the absolute nightmare of dealing with this company. I naively used them because I was referred to them by my car insurer 1st Central and I believed this was the straightforward option - I wish I had read the reviews and also known that I could ask another firm to take over my case as soon as it became apparent how appalling they are.

After two and a half years my ordeal is finally over. This company and their team of ‘solicitors’ are the most unprofessional, incompetent people I have ever had to deal with and I don’t think they should be practicing at all. My case was incredibly straightforward - the other driver admitted full liability straight away for the crash in which he completely wrote off my car and left me with serious physical and mental injuries. 1st Central Law made the process for getting compensation an utter nightmare that caused me untold extra stress for over two years. They don’t respond to emails/phone calls and are then rude and belittling to you when you question them. They are unapologetic in their failures to follow up anything for months at a time and require constant chasing before they make any movement on your case. They also delay making payment when they finally reach settlement for you, and when pushed for evidence of when they received payment themselves you will never receive another response at all.

Waste of time.

Avoid going through any sort of injury claim with them, the experience is horrible and it will drag on for YEARS. If you do decide to go through them - for convenience maybe - then just be prepared for a circus show.
Multiple times there were mistakes in the process. The worst part is because you never actually interact with a human for deciding on the most important aspects of the claim (they have an awful portal) - they are so clueless they were expecting me to have recovered when they hadn't even arranged Physio for me yet.. what a joke.

They do not give 2 F's about you and will settle with whatever the other party says and will leave you on your own if you do not accept their offer.

I knew they had a clueless team early on but I was hoping it was just the first point of contact, but no, it's just company wide.

Absolutely awful to deal with. The online portal they use is often ignored by their staff despite being the only means of contacting them officially.

Direct emails are ignored, for weeks, and calling the main office line often does not get past a voice messaging machine, and even if you do their receptionists are blunt and do not put you through to the relevant team. They are a smoke and mirrors company and the best thing you can do is avoid them.

Want to rate a big fat ZERO stars as…

Want to rate a big fat ZERO stars as this company is shocking!! As most of the other reviews state they do not respond to any contact whatsoever. My son was rear ended January 2023 and we are nowhere near to getting this resolved. We are still to have any correspondence from this company. Absolute disgrace and they will not provide me a complaint reference so I can report them to the ombudsman. How is this allowed with a 21st century law firm!!
