Was going okay I made a mistake as I didn’t think insurance number one went through didn’t wanna drive my truck and lose it so I was looking for another insurance company in the meantime the next day the insurance for the first one I went through came through so I’ve had to prove that I was insured to get my money back ever since then I’ve had problems. I’ve sent it half a dozen times still have no luck. I can’t afford to lose £216 if the other insurance company wasn’t that good I would’ve considered eventually using the company van all I want is me money back because I’ve proved it.

I have phoned Van Compared on at least 3 separate occasions to try to accept a quote. Every time I have been told that the Ref in the email does not correlate with my customer profile/there is no information saved for me.
I have found each call handler quite abrupt and overly casual in how they speak. After eventually finding my quotes they were several hundred pounds more expensive than the initial price I was given.
Update: Charlie very kindly reached out via email as well as replying to this review. I have since found instance elsewhere, however I really appreciate the efforts made and the gesture of an Amazon voucher. Credit where credit is due - not a lot of businesses are so willing to acknowledge theirs errors or offer a solution.

Wouldnt even rate 1 star, my van was rejected due to having a dodgy mot and dreadful trouble with break downs in the first week, so i cancelled my insurance, these people charged me £220 for a weeks insurance, and still havent sent back the £770 they owe me, these companys are greedy and not very good, but now iv seen how they operate, ie witholding money due back, i will just simply never use them again just greed and or incompetence on their part, i dread to think how they would handle a claim, as you cannot get through to a human, their automated phone asks you questions then cuts you off this is Nick Kates husband

After getting on the phone again regarding a refund, i was initially told would be 3 to 5 days, i was today told 7 to 10 days, i was left on hold 20 mins then cut off, so called back again, did this time get a chap who knew what he was doing , seemed to sort things after me having to carry on again about the refund, NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN, dreadful customer service

IUIJOThis company took money from our company account unauthorized from an expired credit card on 16/02/2026 and we found out that they had been taking payments since feb 2023 unauthorized and failed to respond to litigation issued to them to respond in 7 days which they failed to do so and this is a data protection breach as obviously they are storing individuals data information and using information fraudulantly unchecked and is deemed to be unsafe to give payments to this company and at time of writing this review have taken £2066.71 plus interest from our account to date and have not responded so be beware and anyone interested the case no was v584273 you have 7 days to respond before action to fca and credit card data misuse and cant work out how audit have not queried this deception as this company have never been our insurers and we have provided evidence as such and proof of non existant vehicle certificate from *dvla 30/12/2023 so await response but advise customers to only pay insurance by a standing order or bank transfer so the customer is in control and not have our underhanded experience and it appears they are trying pass the buck by saying dvla need to input information and the underwriters will have to ok the monies taken but this is not the legal case as the underwriters did not syphon off the money as van compare did and it is them that are legally liable anr this is a factual account of statement issued and we think they are going to try and give us the runaround but watch this space as we are not going to let this company get away with underhand tactics and failure to check information as they have access to mid to check insurance information and they have been caught on the hop and they dont like it As underwriters accept the risk for a fee and if there is no risk there is bo fee but if a party submits false information to and underwriter for a non existant transaction then that company trading as van compare is liable and we have done some reseach and found other similar issues with this company that are owned as BIS LTD based in guildford surrey and we have reported this fraud to our commercial insurers and are awaiting their response as to why van compare bis insurance ltd would insure a non existant vehicle and supporting evidence has been disclosed to them and how has bis insurance ltd not yet had their fca license challenged and when this so called insurance company called us back to accetain the situation they seem to have a problem understanding fraud and english language and this van compare insurance company have all the hallmarks of taking money off customers but in any event that a claim would have to be made that the drawbridge would be raised and a sorry we cant help you sign would go up
