Door disaster
Door disaster! I ordered a new door in May at an exorbitant price, and the delivery was delayed several times. Today, after four stressful months, it finally arrived only to discover that the frame has been damaged. It had to be returned to the supplier, which means more waiting. I regret hiring this company.
P.S. My reply to Joseph:
Your version of events is incorrect. When I placed the order in May I was told that it would arrive in early July and I have written evidence to prove it. If I had been told that it would take 12 weeks to manufacture I would have chosen a different company. When the door finally arrived two days ago it was clear to see the damage even before it was unpacked! Then your manager rang and tried to pressure me into accepting it with a vague promise to send someone to repair it later on, which I categorically refused. He said it would take two weeks to get a new frame fitted, but nobody has given me a confirmed date yet.
Please check the facts and sequence of events before writing on a public platform.
I gave you one star because there is no option for zero.

I have to say that we feel this second one-star review is extremely unfair, particularly given the communication we have had with you throughout your order.
As we have explained on several occasions, your door is a bespoke dual-colour product, with a different colour internally and externally. Because of this specification, it carries an approximately 12-week manufacturing lead time, which we have communicated to you throughout the process.
Unfortunately, when the door arrived for installation, our team identified that the frame had been damaged. We completely understand how disappointing and frustrating that is after waiting for a bespoke product.
However, rather than ignoring the damage or attempting to install something that we knew was not to the standard you should expect, we stopped the installation and immediately arranged an emergency remake. We believe that was absolutely the right thing to do.
We have remained in communication with you and have done everything reasonably possible to get this resolved as quickly as we can. We are therefore particularly disappointed to receive a second one-star review regarding the same order while we are actively working to put the issue right.
We appreciate that you are frustrated, but we do feel the two one-star reviews give an unfair impression of the way we have handled the situation. When something outside our control goes wrong with a product, what we can control is how we respond — and in this instance we identified the problem ourselves, refused to install a damaged product and immediately organised an emergency replacement.
We will, of course, continue working to get your new door manufactured and installed as quickly as possible.

A Great Windows Upgrade!
We’ve just had all the windows on the front of our house replaced by TWC Home Improvements and we’re very pleased with the overall service and result. Five mixed sized windows on two floors, all tidally fitted in as many hours, with no fuss and minimal disruption or mess. Dan and Ben were the installers and an exceptionally talented and skilled team they proved to be; great guys doing a great job.
The window units themselves appear to be of very good quality, aesthetically pleasing and a big improvement on the older units we previously had. However, only time and future weather conditions will show if these new double-glazed units are as good as they look!
The “one fly in the ointment” we did have is that one of the smallest glass panels arrived broken (cracked glass pane) which must have happened in transit, so we’re just waiting for that to be replaced and hopefully everything will then be satisfactorily completed and the job done!

New windows & porch door
Just had new windows and porch door fitted. Process was a little shaky to start with but got there in the end. Products are great and Stu & Chris (the fitters) were spot on, very helpful, did an amazing job and went above and beyond to sort the porch door and kept disruption down to a minimum - good guys 👍

Update: Issues resolved and now a lovely space to use
22/09: Update.
Following this review I have been in contact with the directors who listened and were honest in what seems to have been a communucation error. They have aknowledged. The whatsapp group was archived when it looked on their side like everything was dealt with.
This week they have come out, inspected the issue and a lovely engineer called Rob came out to resolve it for us. I can now say everything is perfect.

Ill start with the positive, and that was the upfront service before payment was received. The quoting, friendly staff, guidance of options, the installers were lovely and overall its a huge improvement
There is a small issue with one pane of glass, there is sticky residue from installation. I raised this in feb/mar and although there was sporadic communication nothing was resolved so I wrote this review in September 26

I’m genuinely confused and concerned to read this, particularly as you’ve said that you were happy with the overall installation and that the outstanding issue is a small matter with one pane of glass.
There is absolutely no reason why you should have been left waiting for months for this to be resolved, and certainly no reason why messages through the WhatsApp group or directly to your customer contact should have gone unanswered. That is not the level of aftercare we expect to provide.

Not a great start nor good experience thus far.
THE BAD:
* Payment Demands vs. Progress: Payment milestones are meant to align with actual site progress. Due to work falling behind while office management still demanded payment—creating a clear contractual mismatch—I was forced to cite specific contract clauses to protect my financial interests. Paying on their requested date would have meant handing over up to 90% of the contract value for a build that was barely 40% complete. Thankfully, I was able to negotiate a split payment in writing to mirror actual progress.
* Builder Reliability & Time Management: While the builder's (Mike) masonry work quality is reasonably good and he is polite in person, there was a complete lack of professionalism regarding time management and scheduling. He eventually disclosed that he accepted this job despite knowing he couldn't meet TWC's build schedule, as he was juggling multiple projects between Oxford and Reading. As a result, my family constantly rearranged plans for a timetable the builder had no intention of following, operating on the logic that "it will be done by the end date."
Whilst delays ‘happen’ (weather, deliveries etc) a lot of this could’ve been mitigated by better planning from TWC and time management and prioritisation from the builder.
* Site Management & Consideration: Attendance was sporadic—showing up one day and absent the next. On Bank Holiday Monday (31st August), rather than waiting a few minutes for me to move my car, sand was dumped on the front driveway right next to my wife's car so he could rush off to another job. I ended up having to shovel and move the sand myself.
* Cut Corners & Chasing Work: My order form explicitly included a new sub-floor air vent brick. After laying hundreds of bricks, the builder partially covered the existing vent and tried to justify that it was "sufficient" rather than fitting the single new air brick I had paid for, forcing me to chase TWC to get it corrected. -* NOW CORRECTED.
THE GOOD:
* Roofing Team (Jack & Steve): An absolute top-tier duo. They arrived on time, every single day, strictly AS PER SCHEDULE. Polite, friendly, tidy, and hard-working. The build finally transformed into a real structure thanks to them. If you use TWC, I highly recommend requesting Jack and Steve for your roof fit.
CURRENT STATUS: updates ;
Awaiting the electrician : email September 10th to say booked in for 11th at 0830-0930. 10am and nothing. Had to chase to be told he’s gone to wholesaler and will be an additional 30mins or so. No problem for them having the customer just sit and wait at a cost of our time
Plasterer update 11th September - put back an additional day due to overrun.
September 15th - plasterer no show. Even TWC have no idea why he didn’t turn up.
October 2nd; Plastering all done and was a good job. Unfortunately we’ve lost over 2 weeks due to incorrect part sent to replace the door threshold by TWC supplier. This has forced me to delay both my painter and flooring company to do their thing and hoping to rebook once TWC hopefully get the correct part in (3rd time lucky?!) and get the final bits completed.
Office staff could do better by not promising updates by end of day ( even if there’s no update) and not delivering. The customer needs to know what’s going on. They could do better in this area and feel are lacking.
ADVICE TO FUTURE CUSTOMERS:
Cross-reference your payment schedule against actual site milestones before signing, and insist on a dedicated building crew rather than one juggling multiple external jobs. You are paying significant money and deserve a team that respects your time, property, and schedule. Communication of informing the customer of updates is sporadic and could greatly do with improvement.

Thank you for the updated review. While I’m obviously disappointed that you still feel your experience warrants two stars, I’m confident that by the time we have completed your project and resolved the remaining issues, you’ll feel very differently about TWC.
We certainly haven’t hidden away from the problems you’ve raised. You have dealt directly with both Directors, our Buildings Manager and the wider project team, and there has been constant communication as we have worked through the various points with you. Where things haven’t gone as they should, we have acknowledged them and worked to put them right — including the air brick issue you’ve confirmed has now been corrected.
It’s also great to see your comments regarding Jack and Steve and the quality of the roofing work. We’ll make sure that feedback is passed on to them.
There are clearly still some issues to iron out, particularly around the reliability and communication of some of the trades, and we fully understand your frustration with people not arriving when expected. We are actively working with you to get these remaining items completed.
Most importantly, we’re still in the middle of the project and working closely with you towards a resolution. We’re very hopeful that once everything is finished, you’ll be happy with both the completed living space and the way we have responded to the issues along the way.
Hopefully, when we get to that point, we can turn this experience around completely and earn a very different review from you.
