Excellent, efficient, friendly but professional service, highly recommended
I contacted the Dementia Service enquiring about an assessment for my Mum having read positive reviews. We have not been disappointed, everyone we have dealt with has been friendly, efficient and professional whilst also being considerate of the emotional load involved in seeking a diagnosis. The whole process took just over a month but that was only because we had to delay the last appointment due to our holiday. They were very responsive to requests to alter the appointments they offered and also arranged an open/upright MRI scan for my mum (cost £300 more & it was in Birmingham) as she is quite claustrophobic. She found this easier to cope with, although it is still noisey being an MRI and she still had to have the mask on her face, but she didn't lay on her back and go into a tunnel! The nurse who conducted the initial clinical interview, the nurse who took the bloods, the radiographer and the Psychiatrist were all lovely, professional but friendly and kind. The final report was very extensive and thorough, my mum has started medication which arrived very quickly and was very reasonable considering it was a private prescription (£17 incl delivery). It is not a service anyone would relish needing to use but should the need arise we would 100% recommend using the Dementia Service, we have been very satisfied with them.

Our experience with The Dementia…
Our experience with The Dementia Service has been professional, supportive, and thorough from our first contact. My husband was given a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease after a brief encounter with a NHS memory clinic psychologist. It was then we decided to go private and get a second opinion. From our first phone call to our discharge back to our GP every step was thoroughly explained. Honesty, there was a price given before we began the diagnostic procedure. There were no hidden cost added on. It was outlined to us immediately both verbally and in writing what the diagnostic process would entail, and how long it would take. Included in the cost was blood work, a medical background overview, MRI, full psychiatric assessment, then both a summary of findings, a long form medical report, all of the test results, and an hour conversation about the findings. We were encouraged to ask questions and when we did the questions were addressed, and answered provided. We would not hesitate to refer this company to anyone facing any dementia issues. Thank you to all of you at The Dementia Service.

Brilliant support and care
Aila and the team at The Dementia Service have been amazing. We knew Mum was struggling with her memory, and luckily, we were in the position to be able to get a diagnosis, which has enabled us to put in place a care plan quickly. It would have been much worse for Mum's anxiety if we had left her to wait the current 9-12 months for diagnosis. I am sad that others have to wait this long.
It has given Mum peace of mind and also our family, as we can now provide continued care that suits Mum's needs.

Fast and detailed diagnosis, excellent service
A truly excellent service. After noticing something was a bit off with my mum's memory, we had to jump through hoops on the NHS to get any kind of memory clinic referral, only for her to be fobbed off with antidepressants after they did a useless CT scan. Nine months later with no improvement and a slight decline and my disabled father of 84 becoming more of a carer, we were back to square one with the NHS. Time is of the essence with dementia and if you wait too long, you run the risk of not being able to slow the decline (depending on the type), so I called the Dementia Service who explained the whole process in detail. This was money well spent as we received a diagnosis within 4 weeks and started treatment. I cannot recommend them enough as now we have a plan in place for management, it was all done so well and the team were so considerate and kind.

We had a really clear understanding of the process and timelines from the outset, with appointments set to suit our availability.
Everyone we spoke to showed real compassion to the patient and family, during what was a difficult time.
The results were as we expected but were very clearly delivered in the final appointment, with a clear presentation of the results in writing and lots of guidance.
