Wrong Colour / Delivery Delay / Half of the Order Cancelled.
What a comedy of errors. Ordered 4 x Cushion Covers on 1st November (Brown). Takelot cancelled half the order as they only had 2 in stock, and the Supplier is out of stock. I received the 2 this morning. They are BLACK. So which imbecile in "packing" thought that Black is even remotely similar to Brown???? To make things worse, I have found another 2 at Makro online which has now been ordered. So, I will probably end up with 2 of the brown (the right colour) and 2 black ones. Yes, I can return them, I am aware....but what an absolute sh-t show!!!

🚨 TAKEALOT – THIS IS BLATANT FRAUD & DECEPTION 🚨

DO NOT TRUST THEIR “SAME-DAY DELIVERY” LIES

I am posting this publicly because Takealot has shown absolutely no honesty, accountability, or integrity.

I PAID for same-day delivery — and I have the proof — yet Takealot unilaterally changed my order to next-day delivery without my permission.
This is false advertising, plain and simple.

Then, when THEY failed to deliver, I requested a refund.
Instead of immediately returning my money for a service they never provided, they suddenly claim it will take up to 5 business days.
They take your money instantly, but returning it becomes a whole process. Completely unacceptable.

To make matters even worse, the parcel never even left their warehouse. It was never picked, never dispatched, never on a vehicle — NOTHING.
And yet Takealot only refunded the product price and kept the delivery fee.

Let me be absolutely clear:
👉 Charging for a delivery you did NOT provide is FRAUD.
👉 Keeping delivery fees when no delivery was attempted is FRAUD.
👉 Selling a same-day delivery service and not honouring it is FRAUD.

This is unethical, deceptive business practice.
Takealot cannot keep taking customers’ money for services they KNOW they are not delivering. It is unacceptable and it violates basic consumer rights.

I will be escalating this to:
✔ The Consumer Goods & Services Ombud
✔ The Competition Commission (for deceptive marketing)
✔ My bank for chargeback on fraudulent billing
✔ Every public review platform to warn other consumers

Takealot, this is not a “mistake” — this is systemic misconduct.
You do NOT charge for services you fail to provide.
You do NOT delay refunds for your own failures.
You do NOT keep delivery fees when nothing left your warehouse.

Enough is enough. South Africans deserve better than this.

Trustpilot are a bunch of scammers. They charged me $75 extra for next day delivery and I have a screen-print after the order that said delivery would be the next day, but the next day I received an email saying it would arrive a week later. Takealot also have no way of contacting anyone at customer service. Stay away from these guys or use at your own peril !

Ordered equipment I urgently needed. Phone beforehand to confirm stock, place order, even paid extra for “takealot more” to get next day delivery. Since then spoke to 4 different ‘agents’, only confirmation I can get is: 1. Take Alot agents cannot track an order, thety can just ‘escalate query’ which then anyhow take 24-48hours. 2. Agents are not allowed to tell you ‘manager’s’ name who are supposed to help & call you, hence there is no way for you to follow up when they in fact never call. 3. Takealot according to manager I finally reached cannot track nor contact their transport vehicles transporting goods between warehouse and branch, even if 24 hours later said vehicle has not arrived at it’s destination.

Order placed with delivery date of 21 October 2025. Products did not arrive and zero communication from Takealot.

Purchased a product on 27th September 2025. Product arrived and today when I took it out the box (it's still sealed), decided to take the sticker randomly placed on the bottle ( weirdly not on the box), it stated it expired almost 6 months ago.

The deceitful part was the sticker placed to cover this!!

I complained about order taking so long. Delivery on 6 October after I paid the order on 25 September. Now they changed it to 13 October!!!! Just because I logged a query. Terrible service!! I paid extra for shipping. It takes so long from Cape Town to town 200km's away!! Seriously. Now they changed it to later date!!!! Just because I asked what the problem is!!!

Bought a desk & Bookshelf combo on Takealot 2 about weeks ago. We specifically selected the item that was R2499 as from the pictures it had a think table top and sufficient space on the selves for books. The frame as displayed on the advertisement is sturdy and made from larger tubing than the other items advertised on Takealot. When the item arrived on Monday the table top is extremely thin and starts collapsing under very little weight. The shelves are too narrow to fit any books and the frame is not of the same quality and size as advertised.
This product is cheaply made and not even worth half the money we paid for it. What is even worse is that they have now doubled the price to R5000 for this product.
The product is such a disappointment and even though I reviewed this on Takealot I did not receive any feedback from them.

Delivery guys tend to be rude over the phone. You guys should just introduce a system where I’ll just share the location and you come instead of shouting directions. Your drivers are rude when they can’t follow directions.

I ordered a single item for my nephew's birthday. What arrived was "1000 Poly Propylene Hamburger Separators". Not really the thing my nephew would appreciate.

After the usual multiple calls and emails, it turns out that:
1. They had sent my item to somewhere in Belville
2. They wanted me to wait while they picked up this item, in Belville, returned it to their warehouse, and did an investigation.
3. This would take four days
4. My nephew’s birthday is tomorrow.

What would a world class online retailer do? That's right, they would have immediately sent me out a new item, instead of making their internal processes my issue when they created it.

Takelot has simply declined rapidly in the past few years. It's clear that people have noticed and that Takealot does not appear to care. That's great when it's parent company Prosus is sitting on a net cash of $1.9bn. But they are dying the death of a handful of customers every day.

And they have the cheek to try to introduce their version of "Amazon Prime", which is a truly full of great benefits. Unlike the overpriced-for-the-benefits "TakealotMORE" at R99 pm.

I have now on three occasions received perfume I have ordered from them that was not the original/authentic perfume I bought and paid for. It seems that it does not bother them that the products they are selling are not the genuine article

Such a pity. Takealot started quite well. Now, even if you subscribe to TakealotMore, it's a shambles. e.g. They were unable to deliver razorblades at all (took the order & my money). Then Checkers60 delivered same day.
Most of the items can't be delivered same week let alone same day. I've been waiting for them to get their act together but they're just getting worse. I'm done.

Shocking experience with TakeaLot. Paid for same day delivery. The parcel arrived same day, but without my item inside. I urgently needed it for my son's school. Called them to ask for it to be delivered the following day. They said it wouldn't be a problem. Then they called back that afternoon and they said they can't and can only refund, by that time it was too late for me to order another in time for his event.
Luckily Amazon to the rescue. I ordered at 2pm and the item arrived at 6pm same day!! Will always use Amazon rather now!

takealot business is not effecient , they claim their response time is 24hours , its been 8days and they still have not responded to my email regarding an item

Complete scammers. I ordered a gift voucher for R 1000. My payment went through. I never received the voucher. Then when I ask customer support, they demanded to see my passport and bank statements which no retailer has ever asked me before, and I would never give that to any business. So instead of giving my a refund or giving me the voucher that I paid for, they just keep demanding bank statements. Complete scammers.

Yesterday I purchased two Dell monitors from Takealot (Sold by Ditable), Ditable messed up the pricing (Was priced at R1307) and today I get contacted by the seller, telling me that they made a mistake. How is this my problem? I want my monitors, as far as I am concerned, the price you see is the price you pay, which I did, and I paid in full. @ TAKEALOT, please stop charlatans from using your trusted platform.

I have been using Takealot for years with no issues, my recent orders has been a total disaster. I placed an order, delivery date 19 Aug, the delivery date kept moving out and as these items were urgent, I canceled the order. And placed a new order removing items not available. Two days later, someone at Takealot reinstated my cancelled order?? I guess they now have unilateral decision ? Anyway I had to cancel again and now am waiting again and assuming it is now another 5 days....who knows maybe they reinstate the order again by themselves. What a way to never refund a person.

They advertised a product which I purchased. It was on sale. They cancelled my order and refuse to deliver. They made a mistake on the advert so they say. My whole order is over R2000 before adding this product. Shocking. If it’s advertised at Price they should deliver. Not cancel my order

Never received my full refund after sending products back that have already been opened. Also cancelled an order and never received full refund. They always have an excuse and a reason. Spent thousands and thousands over the years. Never again.

I’ve ordered from Takealot multiple times and they’ve always delivered fast. The app is simple to use, and returns have been smooth when needed. Would recommend for electronics and daily items.
