Do not rent with this accommodation. Extremely Disappointing.
Do not rent with this accommodation at all. I stayed in one of their accommodations in Leicester and unfortunately had an extremely disappointing experience.
There were ongoing issues with hygiene in the shared kitchen and bathrooms, which were often left in a poor and sometimes unusable condition. Despite regular inspections (usually once every month) these issues did not seem to be addressed.
The biggest problem has been with the temperature and the ventilation. My room was consistently very hot (27-30 degrees) with no way to control it due to the thermostat and poor airflow made it difficult to sleep comfortably, even during the winter months. This had a noticeable impact on my mental health as well as my physical health.
There were also maintenance concerns, including a non functioning extractor fan, consistently clogged drainage systems in the bathrooms of my flat, and a previous ceiling leak that caused flooding and affected the light fixtures and usage of sinks and the washing machine.
For the price charged, the overall standard of living and management response was unfortunately disappointing. I will never rent with this company again.
Living in a student cribs house
After living in a Student Cribs property for a year, I can honestly write this review advising any student who is debating going with them for their student house to reconsider. For the last few months, we have had nearly every appliance break in our kitchen through no fault of our own- we entered the property with a non working washing machine that took 6-8 weeks to be fixed and left us resorting to the laundrette down the road, and only was resolved when we threatened taking matters further. Our washing machine's plug socket melted into the wall and our dryer has broken. We have had continuous mould problems in the bedrooms and did not have a replacement bench outside for half a year. Our boiler has broken repeatedly, leaving us with no heating or hot water, and even now as it's 'fixed', we have to re-set it far too often to be safe. The two maintenance men are the saving grace for this company and they do their best, but also are the only 2 people for hundreds of student cribs properties, so no wonder nothing is ever fixed timely. We know of people who have had their sinks collapse and been offered little compensation, and overall through word of mouth have come to the realisation we are one of many houses that are looked after insufficiently and have reoccurring problems with the company. I would recommend going with a much smaller student housing company that have a base in the city, so you are able to actually knock on their company door instead of trying to reach them on the phone with no reply.

We had Mike H as our maintenance man and he made our tenancy far better, as there were a number of things that needed fixing and he got them all sorted to a high standard.
Good house experience
Was a great experience the house was nice had a few faults but Mike H was unbelievable. Very kind and friendly and was always super helpful in replaying things, fixing breaks, painting the kitchen.

WARNING to Prospective Tenants
I strongly advise anyone considering signing a tenancy with Student Cribs to think very carefully before doing so.
Our experience has been extremely disappointing and costly. My daughter ended up having to pay not only for her own room but also for an empty one, which placed an unnecessary financial burden on her and us. Despite raising concerns, there was little support or flexibility offered.
Even more frustrating is the fact that repairs reported back in August are still not completed. This has caused ongoing inconvenience and shows a clear lack of responsiveness and responsibility from the company.
Their contracts are also very rigid, with NO BREAK CLAUSE included. This means tenants are locked in for the full term, even if their circumstances change unexpectedly. This lack of flexibility feels unfair and outdated, especially for students whose situations can change quickly.
Overall, this has been a very negative experience. In my opinion, the service is poor, the costs are excessive, and the terms heavily favour the company over the tenant.
I would strongly recommend that others avoid signing with Student Cribs and look for more reputable and tenant-friendly accommodation providers.

Shaun (Student Cribs Salford) has been a great help in resolving pretty much all of our issues recently, and is always quick with responding to maintenance requests.
Unfortunately student cribs is managed very poorly and the houses are not in a great shape. For instance, we’ve had many appliances and pieces of furniture break during our stay; however, this is not the fault of the maintenance team as they’ve been nothing but helpful. Thanks again Shaun!!

Dave and Harry are really helpful. Dave has always gone above and beyond with helping and always double checks to make sure everything’s working even after being signed off. Both are very easy to talk to and have always made our time at the flat much more enjoyable

Mike Haywood from student cribs has been really helpful in my house throughout the year. my room needed to be painted and he got it done immediately. He has also sorted things quickly for my other housemates and is always lovely!!
A terribly run company.
A terribly run company that constantly made mistakes leaving us to deal with the many consequences. Rented with them in Cardiff and I cannot recommend the experience less.
In the interest of keeping it brief here are the main issues:
1. No warning when visits to the flat will occur. I have personally woken up to three men in the flat doing work without any prior warnings. This has happened countless times. The contractors themselves are even told we will know about them. This is deceptive and wrong, we do not feel safe in the flat because anyone could walk in at anytime.
2. Delays in getting work done. Our flat flooded and it took a month before a maintenance worker was sent to even just look at the damage. Nothing was then done about the damage for a further month and then the minimum amount was done to fix the damage.
3. For four months in a row we were harassed for "not paying" rent. we had. we each received emails to us and then to our guarantors. The worst of it was when we would be called about the issue by a man named Raymond. from what we can tell he is the head of the finance team and he is belittling, rude and disrespectful. Frankly he should not be speaking to customers with his complete lack of understanding and respect. I have had to speak to him multiple times to sort out the rent issue despite everyone in our flat paying on time each month. This seems to have been an issue for EVERYONE IN CARDIFF who rented with student cribs.
4. communication within the company is lacking majorly. We had a flatmate swap tenancy to another person and Student Cribs completely failed to understand that. We were emailed multiple times for documentation that had been provided and asked for a document that didn't exist. This lead to the aforementioned Raymond phoning me and being again rude and demanding despite my explaining I was not the flatmate in question and couldn't help. He then threatened us with eviction and refused to elaborate, ending the call when I asked follow up questions.
This isn't even all that we have had to deal with in the 10 month tenancy we have had with Student Cribs. I implore everyone to look elsewhere for flats and avoid this company like the plague.
I wish I could give 0 stars but since I can't the 1 star is the for maintenance man who is always kind and professional when he shows up. His work is always done well and he has gone above and beyond for us. Shout out to him.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Please, students, avoid this company.
Move in, property was filthy & mouldy & the gas & electricity meters were connected to a property over 3 times the size of ours which took us months to sort out ourselves.
Damp issues were supposed to be fixed before move in…still waiting for some remedial work re damp & it’s 16 months since we first spoke to them about it. Student Cribs asked us to put the heating on & they'd pay the spike in gas, we did this for 5 months before they reneged this offer (before paying us) & reduced it to 50% of the spike. For context, while the (2 bedroom) flat was empty over Christmas, the bill was £198 for gas alone & they are now only offering half of this.
The concrete floor in 1 bedroom developed a hole which was fixed but has now returned even worse.
We’ve had loads of appliance breakdowns, Wi-Fi issues, no water or heating on multiple occasions due to rats eating the pipes & boiler breakdowns in the middle of winter, with no urgency for a permanent fix (we had to get environmental health involved before they checked, found & repaired the water leak) & were left 9 weeks without a dishwasher due to rats eating through the pipe work. We still haven’t received the heaters we were promised (in front of environmental health) 6 weeks ago.
We’ve had rat infestations due to structural issues & they have refused to pay for the damage to our property despite being given the requested photos & itemised list & maintenance helping to dispose of the damage.
Similar issue re water leaks through the ceiling & damage to our property.
They don’t deal with anti social behaviour so the upstairs flat are allowed to party multiple times a week until 6:30am meaning we are exhausted for uni.
They also aren’t interested in the weed being smoked upstairs that stinks our flat out.
The communal lighting is attached to our consumer unit so we are paying for the shared electricity for our flat & another & they are in no rush to fix this.
Finally, they don’t understand the needs of disabled tenants & feel it is acceptable for wheelchair access to be blocked by parked cars meaning we can’t always get out of the door tp get to uni classes (or sometimes am stuck, unable to return home) let alone be stuck inside if there were a fire!
They will talk the talk & offer solutions but rarely follow through on them.
AVOID AT ALL COST.

He is always warm and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. It’s rare to come across someone so dedicated and considerate these days. Thank you so much for your help.

Mike H - been really happy with the maintenance work done on our student house. He’s been a massive help with clearing out any rubbish and doing up general bits of the house. Everything he’s worked on has made a noticeable difference, making the house better to live in! On top of that he’s an absolute pleasure to talk to - couldn’t recommend him enough.
