Great quality hardwood for my boat
Ordered yellow balau boards to build two storage benches to be able to sit while at the helm on the poopdeck of my boat, which has natural grey teak decks, and varnished teak and mahogany superstructure.
Out of the total of 48 metres length I purchased, there was virtually no waste, as the boards were all immaculate, knot and crack free. Choosing board size and ordering was easy on the website. Collecting was a breeze. After a telephone conversation with a helpful and polite lady, I was able to collect earlier in the day than for when I had booked collection.
Those at the marina who have seen the benches cannot believe that such a great looking wood is being sold for humble decking.
Now I can't wait to let the wood go grey and blend in with the deck. I will be sailing in comfort this season.
Southgate Timber will be my first go-to place should I need to complete other hardwood projects.

Could do better with delivery dates.
The product was excellent, and the staff were friendly; however, I had to change the delivery date because when I made the first request for a Saturday delivery, I was contacted 14 days afterwards, only to be told that we don't deliver on Saturdays.
This resulted in me having to rearrange my tradespeople for another day, all of which was avoidable had I got a timely response within the 6-day window for a delivery as advertised.

Hi Paul, thanks for your recent purchase and for taking the time to give us your feedback. I appreciate you taking my call today to discuss this further, we are still looking into what happened as all our team is aware we don't work on Saturday's. The lead time was extended on your request from our standard 'within' 6 working days to your location, this is not in question. We continue to make further investigations into the misunderstanding regarding potential Saturday delivery and have had discussions with the team to make it clear whether communication is via phone, email, whatsapp or livecchat that answers are always clear and not possible for any misunderstanding. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to rectify this when you order again in the future. Best regards :-)

Purchased their Thermo Ayous for a small garden project. This material is in my opinion very expensive however it is if the very best quality and the studio looks great. Ordering and delivery was easy and prompt. I’d certainly use them again for any future works.

I discussed with Southgate the specialist hardwood timber needed. I followed their recommendations and the wood was ideal for the project and my client was very happy. Price was competitive, delivery was as advised and the delivery driver (he was a Southgate man) was very helpful when unloading. First class service on all counts. Throughly recommend.

Order was ready on time for pick up however I was late due to M11 traffic. Kind employee opened the closed warehouse especially (as I arrived after closing time) for me to pick up my order. Lovely staff and very happy with product. Will use them again. Highly recommended. 👍
