I ordered a 3D model product from them and I am extremly satisfied. I never felt like that after product purchase. Good quality and exectly what I wanted. I definitely recomend them to everyone who is interested in 3D printing.

Placed order in erro and five minutes later tried to cancel I got repeated automated messages and talking to a human is impossible I agree with other posters quality has really gone down jill

Shame on this company, very Bad quality. For scale modeler, impossible to Sand or paint, material used is impossible to work. Don't buy to them. No surprise with the evaluations on trust pilot

I ordered loco body in March 2023 on status said order cancelled but then took my cash and every time I Sent to customer service got automated answer not happy they quick enough to take your cash but don't rush to sort out problems

Can't recommend Shapeways.
I've purchased several items over the years and found items are often under scale or over scale for scale modelers. This is no fault of Shapeways but the developers of which there's no way to monitor there work. Shame there's no way to rate designers so people can judge for themselves if they want to run the risk and to be guided by customers reviews. (I suspect there's a reason for this).
However on my last occasion a print received was clearly incorrect from advertised / pictured description as advertised. I contacted Shapeways who saw the issue and I was advised to use the Shapeways messenger system to contact the developer. They failed to respond. I contacted Shapeways again and they messaged the developer. Again I recived no answer. I sent another Email to Shapeways. They offered me a one-time only refund which I refused.
I found Shapeways to be generally unhelpful in this matter and seem to have little power of the developers that use there platform. The item is still available to purchase for the next unsuspecting customer and for this reason alone, I would urge extreme caution if you wish to use Shapeways. The item shown and advertised on Shapeways may NOT be the item you receive. Developers are not held to account and don't have to respond to any issues.

They are terrible! I ordered the product by mistake and at the same moment tried to cancel the order, and they lied that it was already in production. And it was Saturday late afternoon. In the order it was written that they need a month to make small
earrings, and now suddenly they are already in the production. Liars

The price of shipping to Norway has absolutely sky-rocketed. They charge around USD 33 (!) to ship a tiny plastic piece weighing 5 grams. The price of the thing is 3 USD making it a grand total of 36 USD for next to nothing. Insane. Goodbye forever.

Ordered a desktop guitar pick holder. >$30 with shipping. The picture made the device look much larger than it was. The device is too small and doesn't hold a pick well. The response from customer service was worthless. Won't make the mistake of using them again.

I just received a reply from the product maker and it isnt much help:

Hi Michael,
Thank you for buying our product, we are sorry you are not satisfied.

From what I can see in the video you are using big guitar picks which are a little harder for this product to grab, as they are too big and heavy for the plastic to hold onto.
It would be best if you were more gentle when inserting the picks so the others won't fall out.

They sometimes do a great job, but the last item I got from them wasn't quality. They weren't even interested in making the situation better.

I have added a star to this review to reflect that a representative from Shapeways reached out to me and offered to refund my money given the quality of the product I ended up with.
I would still not use their service again, not only because I had to fight to get my money back but because of the resons that were given for the poor quality parts I recieved:
'...determining the best manufacturing method for such complex models is not easy.'
'...we typically try our best to clean the parts but sometimes we are not able to meet the quality desired.'
It would have been nice to hear how the problems I encountered might be prevented in the future, or to hear if any investigation was performed as to why the problems occurred in the first place. As such, I am awarding 2 stars instead of 3.

Really disappointed with Shapeways. I expected a professional, quality print and the parts came covered in partially cured resin residue which was clearly due to poor washing or curing while still wet. Because of the very restrictive nature of the Shapeways guarantee, any amount of processing or cleaning renders this forfit, so customers are left with a heap of 'finely detailed' parts buried beneath a resin crust and have to pay for the privilage.
Initially they offered to reprint the parts that were defective and I would have been delighted with this had they not shown up with exactly the same issue. Why, after a customer points out an issue with production QC, would you not try to correct the process before reprinting the parts?
I was offered a full refund only if I had not cleaned or painted any of the parts, which I had done to demonstrate and document the issues.
Shapeways is not cheap. I assumed I was paying for a professional and quality service. I was very, very wrong. This was my first time using Shapeways and I was excited by the posibility, now though, I will be telling everyone I know not to use this company.

Ordered parts for an old dishwasher. Order arrived before it was even scheduled to be printed and fit perfectly. Saved a lot of $$$ over having to buy entire new assembly for an old machine that is no longer supported by manufacturer.

I ordered a lug adapter for my watch. There was a choice between materials. My issue was that the number of lug adapters changes depending on the material ordered. It was not clear in the description that there would be a different in the number of items received. The description made it seem like the plastic version would have the 2 pieces connected so one would infer the metal version would have the pair connected. When I contacted customer service, they were quick to respond but basically said it was my fault for not reading it correctly. In my original email to them, I suggested that they change the description to be more clear in how many pieces you would receive. That was promptly ignored so future purchasers will have the same issue. And seriously, who would order 1 lug adapter?

Update: Shapeways sent a lug adapter and went above and beyond to make things right. Just prior to that, the creator responded to my message and agreed that the description was uncertain. He then updated the product description to reduce uncertainty for future customers.

Very grateful to have found the lid latch/strike part #215254 for my 1987 Maytag W/D stack unit. Parts for this unit are no longer available unless found used and this unit is unbelievable and has worked a lifetime. The latch purchased here was made from a design of the original piece and it works perfectly. I paid for fast shipping and the item was made and shipped quickly.

The only cons I have (unrelated to purchase) is that the designer of the latch cannot be given a public review, credit and his profile does not show how many units sold. Also, a link for this review section is not posted on the site, learned of it after writing tech support. Hopefully the site will be updating.

Takes forever to get in contact with anyone. I planned to have an item programmed and produced but once I started dealing with the designer it took literally months to ever get in contact with the actual designer after dealing with 3-4 other "middle men". File came back and I printed it out myself . It needed a minor adjustment but I could get no one to respond to my requests. Just crickets. I suggest you spend the money to take a community college 3D design class. It will take far less time to learn to do it yourself and with far less agravation than dealing with Shapeways to get their customer service act together. There is a reason almost all reviews are 1star reviews. Too bad there is not a Zero star review

Very bad experience (and expensive!). Firstly, they did not recommend the best material when asked, only after I did much research myself could I ascertain the best material for printing. Next, they messed up my order, and tried to blame me! They kept saying it was my fault, when clearly my order showed the correct models in the little pictures. Customer service were no help whatsoever. There must be a better printing service out there!

Terrrible customer service.

Parts consistently get refused for printing because of their insane policies.
Customer service agents are no help at all, once they've decided what the part is, that's that.
Maybe 10% of the steel prints are skewed or don't print correctly.

I sent in a cancellation order immediately after ordering a ring (within minutes, late into the night when I ordered). A day later, the ring was made and I receive a response that it was too late to cancel the order and refund my money as the ring was already in production. After a dozen emails back and forth with several reps and several alternatives offered to make this right, the company's several representatives would do nothing to remedy the situation. Why even offer cancellation of an order on your website if it's not possible to cancel an order even minutes after it was placed? Truly frustrating.

Apart from relatively high prices on most of their materials, I find that the print quality Shapeways deliver is always excellent. The biggest shortcoming for me is that they insist on using UPS for deliveries and charge a high premium for doing so. The local UPS agents are thoroughly dishonest and repeatedly drop off parcels at their "Access Point", saying they were unable to deliver, despite us being at home all the time. I have asked Shapeways to use the post but they refuse to do so, probably because of the better margin they can make on UPS!!! I am a regular Shapeways customer - latest order number = #4220046
