I’ve had the same experience as others with the Saltpool Store. My cell was defective after ~ 18 months and wanted to charge for $239 for a replacement under warranty. I could purchase a new cell for $309. There claim of a 5 year warranty is bogus. They claim a MSRP of $799 for their T9 platinum cell which they actually sell for $309. They base the 5 year warranty on the MSRP which make the warranty of no value after 3 years. If you compare to Hayward warranty of 3 years which is a NO COST replacement with any Hayward dealer. They are not a customer focused company It has taken me over 2 weeks to get to this point of them wanting me to charge me $239 for a warranty replacement. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I bought a T-15 replacement cell and the first one lasted 3 months. They replaced it and that one lasted less than 2 years. When I shipped it back for $16, they sent me an invoice to buy a new one for $269 vs a brand new one for $359. So much for a 5 year warranty. Had it made it 3 years the warranty price would have been more than the sale price. The customer service and sales team were no help. Total scam.

Update to my review: I requested my old cell to be sent back to me as this paid for by me originally and they will not return my emails or calls. I have reported them to the BBB as well. Their Customer Service and Sales team are by far the worst I have ever seen.

We bought a "replacement" salt water cell. It worked for 3 months. Then trying to get in contact with tech support is a joke. You have to wait for them to email you. And they will ask you 1 question per day. Stay away, don't waste your money. Scam outfit.

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE
My salt cell T-5 worked only 1 year. I Sent pictures, explication and all of stuff ask by them. This product suppose to have a 5 warranty years. I shipped my cell to this Australia compagny (100$ shipping by me) with a promise to have a reparation or replacement. Finally, they sent to me an email with a super special to buy a new one Cell (Same price that I paid originally) THIEF!! Thanks a lot SaltPOORStore

This is a scam operation and the warranty they give you is not honored. Check all reviews, BBB reviews and complaints about the company before you give them a penny. Scamming consumers appears to be the norm. We have filed complaints against them with several consumer protection agencies.

Check out the BBB rating of F....they are terrible and warranties are meaningless. (I wish I had.) You will end up spending more money and time jumping through hoops if they respond at all. Their warranty proration is based on MSRP and you can end up paying more for the salt cell than you paid for it or the current price. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!!

I have read all the one star reviews. I will not go into details as the same thing has happened to me that has happened to so many others. I wish we could do a Class Action Lawsuit on this.
1. Ordered item August 19, 2023.
2. It arrived broke.
3. Sent it back at my expense.
4. Received notice that DHL had shipping label IN AUSTRALIA and they were waiting on item. This was on October 10th.
5. Since then SALT POOL STORE has refused all means of contact.

Bought a replacement cell for my Hayward T-9. FYI, it shipped from Australia. It fit perfectly! Was producing chlorine as it should...for 6 weeks. Then the readout indicated HOT. Called SPS Support. "Tommy" sent me a Temperature Sensor to install myself, rather than send the whole unit back, at my expense, to have THEM do it. The part came, again, from AUS. COULD NOT INSTALL IT! Called SPS, left a message. EMAILED SPS, TWICE, with photos of the HOT readout & faulty sensor. No reply. Tried their Chat line on the website. Was told to email them. NO RESPONSE!! Am contacting my credit card company to file a dispute.
UPDATE: I DID call my CC company and filed a dispute. After 38 phone calls, 18 emails, 3 Chats to SPS, the CC company FINALLY got a response! Of course, by this time, my pool was turning green with mustard algae, and I was having a very difficult time so, I wnet an ordered another unit, but this time, from Amazon! A few $ more, but plugged it in...working GREAT. In the meantime, SPS sends me an email that they are shipping ANOTHER unit, also from Australia! I respond "DO NOT SEND IT!. If I get a delivery notice I will decline the delivery". SPS Cancelled the delivery and order, BUT only credited me $216.99 and NOT the original $309.99! They are keeping $93. Restocking charge???? REALLY? for a bad unit with a 5-year warranty? READ THE WARRANTY in DETAIL! If ANYTHING goes wrong with the unit...SPS is pretty much absolved of any responsibility. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!!

This company is a TOTAL scam!!! DO NOT waste your time or money with them. I bought a T-9 Salt cell from them in May 2023. The price was what sold me..you truly get what you pay for because they sell crap. 4 months into the purchase the unit failed. Some kind of heat temp sensor OR so I was told. I wanted to exchange the unit and told them so and UNDERSTOOD that I would be responsible for shipping. What did they do send me the temp sensor without my consent and sent some bogus instruction QR code for repairing a warrantied unit MYSELF. Out of frustration, I reached out to ask what would happen if we damaged the unit when trying to replace the sensor...the response was "no one ever has" They give you 1 word responses (if any) they don't answer the phone or their bogus chat line! When my husband attempted to replace the sensor, there was not an "easy" removal of wiring as per the instructions, the blamed thing was in there with jb weld. So, my husband choose to by pass the sensor and now....the cover is leaking water and will not stop no matter what he tries...NO response from Salt Pool Store whatsoever!!! DO NOT ORDER even an O ring from these people as I a certain without a doubt all of their products are rebuilt 2nd's

Clearly one star is one too many. Zero service only outdone by poor quality. Platinum cell reads salt levels up to1600 above actual levels. It immediately gets hot, very hot, so you can't walk away leaving it plugged in. A return with well under 60 minutes of use on the unit is considered 'used' and gets you a 30% restocking fee for what never worked in the first place and would probably melt your circuit board or burn your house down.

Also, it can run hot and not functiom properly if water temperature is near 90, not my case in October but if you live south of Canada and the water can get hot, this may not be the unit for you. Why would they tell me that when they shipped it to my Miami address? Why not give a full refund if warm water will render it useless?

Somehow 'Hayward has a design flaw'...that's their story....it apparently wasn't designed to work with cheap knockoffs after their patents expired or something like that. Keep that in mind when considering buying from them. Hayward is to blame for their products not working, unbelievable but true...so, don't buy their crap. They tell you this is normal, 'try this, try that'...nothing works, but since you tried this and that...it is now used. Awesome! Should have seen that coming, that's on me I guess.

They will sell this spotless return as new and pocket another $120 when it gets returned....again and again. Pretty unique and successful business plan, probably run by a 3rd grader (apologies to 3rd graders who don't blame someone else or the climate for poor performance).

Just buy new stuff if you can, and buy local...just another internet scam based on my experience. I have had good luck w Pentair at other properties and bought another one after this experience

And here we go again. They still have my phone and cell number blocked. I sent them an email earlier this week and have yet to get a response. They finally sent me a salt cell under a previous warranty request about a month ago and guess what quit working about a week ago, the salt cell. I have been trying to reach out to them to confirm what the most recent order number was in order to hopefully submit another warranty request that they will hopefully honor so I don't have to pay another $267.00 under the previous cell replacement warranty plus about another $50.00 for shipping them or returning the defective cell. When you receive the cell it comes in a small box wrapped in bubble wrap and no invoice or receipt is included.

Do not buy anything from saltpoolstore.com! Their products don't work, they will avoid dealing with your issues, they will dodge warranty claims, lie about the warranty policy, and / or ignore your requests. It is tempting to buy from saltpoolstore.com based on price, and I was also compelled by the "5 year warranty". DO NOT BUY FROM SALTPOOLSTORE.COM, IT WILL NOT SAVE YOU MONEY WHEN THE CELL DOESN'T WORK AND THEY DON'T HONOR THE WARRANTY!

Salt Pool Store shipped a defective product to me about a week ago. Immediately after noticing the problem with the item I contacted them and sent them pictures and a video of the problem. The salt cell was leaking out the connection plastic cover. They immediately agreed it was a problem and the cell was not working properly. They called it shipping damage and claimed that I did not purchased shipping insurance when the purchase was made. Neither the shipping box or the item has any signs of physical damage. It was a manufacturing defect that was causing the problem not a shipping issue. I had to cover the shipping back to them in addition to only receiving a partial refund, which they kept over $100 of the original purchase price. Even though I had no fault in any of this, Salt Pool Store took advantage of me and took my money when their product never worked since day one.

I purchased a T-15 salt cell from them in 07/2022 for $349.99. This was salt cell I bought. PLATINUM EDITION REPLACEMENT SALT CELL FOR HAYWARD® T-CELL-15 | 40,000 GALLONS | 5-YEAR WARRANTY. My salt cell went bad 1 year 1 month later. I had a 5 year warranty on it. Here is the part you must pay attention to. Their warranty will allow you to pay 30% of their retail price if the salt cell went bad in year two which it did. Their retail price was $890.00. Way over the normal price. So I ended up paying 30% of $890.00 which equaled $267. If the salt cell went bad in the 3rd year it would cost you $445.00. This is more than they sell the salt cell for. Their 5 year warranty is not worth it. If you can buy it cheaper for a 1 yr. warranty buy it elsewhere. Also the quality is junk. I bought another salt cell (Calimar) the same day from Pool Supply Unlimited for $275.00 but it only had a 1 year warranty. I figured the 5 year warranty was worth the extra $75 it is not.

Wish I would of looked at reviews before dealing with this place.. STAY AWAY!! First, they say made in USA, product came from Australia.. second,salt cell has no writing on it so I have no idea if it’s the right one, installed and it shot my salt level up 1200 points on my display,(5500) which will not make chlorine..Actual salt level is 3300.. started a chat, they actually blocked me, no package slip came in box so ( you guessed it) can return.. and it looked to be a used product.. Don’t deal with these people you will regret it!!!!

I purchased a salt cell on 6/27/23, and received it on 7/2/23. The product failed on 8/25/23 so it only worked for 54 days. The purchase price was 368.99 and I was refunded 251.99. The only customer service explanation given was a cut and paste of their return policy, which says they have no responsibility. Their product is cheaply made garbage.

I am still waiting for this store to replace my unit. They have told me so many different stories. But the matter of this is they do not stand behind the 5year warranty on the cell DO NOT ORDER FROM SALT POOL STORE. They will lie to you and keep your unit or tell you to pay another large amount to ship a hopefully working unit. They are a fraud company.

I received a damaged salt cell via DHL from Australia & they refused to refund my $368 and IGNORED all my emails & phone v-mails! I had to get PayPal involved and they got me a refund on my MasterCard.
