The price was the best, the add on options were good and fairly priced, I took out an insure keys add on which I needed to use, the claim was sorted quickly.
Communication to clarify an issue caused by a previous insurer at start of policy was excellent.
Plus peace of mind of RAC reputation! What’s not to like.

Do not use if you need to change car!
I decided to use RAC as their quote was actually very competitive this year. What they don't tell you is that if you need to change car or cancel then you will be ripped off. 3 months in they want more the 50% of the premium again to change to a similar small car. And if I cancelled, I would only get back 20%. My other option was new policy with them but that wasn't much better value. Needless to say, I will not be using RAC again.

No loyalty to long-term clients with 20+ years UK driving experience
I have been a loyal RAC customer since 2020 with over 40 years of total driving experience (more than 20 years clean record in the UK). Never had a single claim or accident. Despite this, RAC increases my monthly price every single year without any reason, and it has now jumped from £33.63 to £49.00. This is an unacceptable loyalty penalty for a low-risk driver. I want to resolve this and stay with the company, but I expect a fair price that respects my clean record. I have already sent a formal email regarding this issue and look forward to a prompt manager review.

Although RAC were efficient on renewal…
Although RAC were efficient on renewal the premium was considerable higher and as usual one has to discuss a reduction from £761 to£591. I was not surprised as it seems this two tier system is now general in the insurance industry. I do not like the practice,with no cost enquiry on my part i could have paid £170 more.
