Recently taken out motorbike insurance with Principal Insurance. Competitive quote given & straight forward to set up by phone with Customer Services or on-line. 😊😊

Nothing but issues,
Took out a policy for my 16 year old daughter for a moped … after paying they email asking for utility bill and national insurance numbers etc I phoned them(1hr 7mins to get through) and said she’s 16 so doesn’t have utility bills etc wanted pictures of her driving licence, national insurance numbers etc sorted that then had a email saying as she’s 16 she can’t pay direct debit and the insurance will be void …. It was set up with my bank detail so another 2 hours on the phone to sort that in the end I cancelled the policy (day after I took it out) didn’t have any email to confirm so yet again another 1hr 30 mins on the phone to cancel again … charged for cancelling it but told the rest will be paid back to me …. Still no refund emailed 3 times has no response tried to ring today after nearly 1hr40mins of trying to speak to somebody I gave up … worse company to deal with I’ve ever come across and still not had the money back they owe me…

Update…. Just had a email saying refunds can take up to 90 days ….. 3 months for a refund ??

Cancelled policy 2 days after starting and 4 days before it started! got charged £55.00 for the pleasure, i had tried within those 2 days to contact customer services by email and telephone but got no response, so thought this outfit is a waste of time, so opened another policy with another company with superb customer services. i would dread to think what they would be like if need to make a claim!

Got a quote online for £978 phone up to accept the quote only to go up £1600 what a joke

Tried to ring customer services and on each occasion hung up after 15 minutes so sent an email to cancel policy which isn’t due to start till the end of the month.got a automated reply to my email but herd nothing else . 6 days later I get a email asking how they did! So I rang again still no answer. Customer service is nil . So at the moment they still have my full premium and have not been in touch and I can’t get in touch with them.

I am 70 yrs old, I arranged cover for my son and myself on YP400 Yamaha Scooter, less than 24 hrs later I cancelled the policy, due to a change in circumstances.
Be advised the insurance was not due to commence until the 29th April 26.
I was told I had to pay approx £50 to cancel, which I reluctantly did.
I note in other reviews mention the list of required documents to proceed, I agree it is extreme and I think particularly aimed at the Motorcycling community, eg since when has a renewal notice not been proof of NCB?
Also Principal Insurance do not answer their reviews.

Worst insurance company going. They lure you in with a cheap price, then ask for a load of documentation no other insurance company asks for. Rang them up to cancel, waited on hold for 35 minutes to which to be told it had been cancelled with a £55 fee. A week later still no confirmation from them, rang up again - another 45 minutes on hold later I was then told the policy was never even cancelled, which they then wanted to refund even less! Another 2 weeks gone by still nothing, and another 1 hour 15 minutes on hold later they said the policy should be cancelled and the money in my account. The worst insurance company I’ve ever dealt with in my life, would never recommend to anyone.

I waited on the phone for over 35 minutes and didn't get an answer . I rang again waited 15 minutes no answer. When I did get through wanting to make changes to my policy the customer service person was so unhelpful that I decided to cancel my policy.
Sent 2 emails asking for my proof of no claims. They have not provided it. Rang customer services no answer. Unless you have days to waste don't insure with these !

This is an awful company. I have now been holding for 35 minutes to get through to customer services. Just music nothing about where I am in the queue.
I paid in full and now need to cancel as they are demanding documents within two weeks inc proof of no claims. I will be abroad then so won't be able to get it to them. DO NOT GO NEAR THEM IF YOU HAVE A MOTORHOME

Very poor Customer services, the charges they place is you want to make are changes are quite extortionate.
I paid £480 for my policy cancelled after 6 months the refund was £26 the other £214 was classed as admin fees and charges for making changes. I kid you not. AVOID this company, Never pay them in full.

Not much experience yet - my policy starts today.
But contrary to most other reviews, I spent 35 minutes on hold before they answered. During which the online chat said "no agents available, call back during office hours" (it was of course "during office hours").

Then apparently it's a standard policy across all insurers that you should declare claims made by other drivers on insurance you hold on other vehicles, even though that person won't be driving the vehicle I'm insuring with them. That claim hadn't even affected my no claims bonus on that vehicle, let alone on this one!

And not knowing that landed me an "administrative change" fee on top of the higher than quoted premium.

Professional customer service, responsive and genuinely helpful throughout the entire process.

The company offered cover at the best price
I could find , but motorcycle insurance cost is too high due to the lack of law enforcement when bikes are stolen and a lack off any real deterrent to stop motorcycle theft.
