Really awful experience, completely unexpected!
We had two very similar quotes and chose PBW because they seemed friendly and easy to contact. Never again! They did a shoddy job on the day and took 4 weeks to return to complete the installation.
Main issues are summarised below:
* Arrived 90 minutes late
* Fitter was verbally abusive when I asked him to move the tools off my next door neighbour's lawn
* Forgot to bring sealant, so left the front door unsealed for 4 weeks, which led to two fixtures falling off in this time
* Fitted front door with wrong color door handle after 'picking up wrong handle' (gold handle with a silver letter box) - not as agreed on contract/specification
* Fitted front door with wrong internal locking mechanism - not as agreed on contract/specification
* Fitted windows with wrong handles - not premium handles as agreed and paid for on contract/specification
* Fitted windows without trickle vents - not as agreed and paid a premium for on contract/specification
* Failed to fit end caps on external sills
* £2506 was paid before installation, with the remainder due on completion
* Stated that incorrect door handle would be changed within days 'even if it means coming out of hours' - I chased them for 4 more weeks before they came.
* Didn't clean up waste materials from garden/pavement
* Left insulation and adhesive stuck to tarmac on driveway
* Manager initially said all the right things, but thereafter was uncontactable - his promises to rectify issues within days were not actioned.
*I chased the manager for 6 weeks after initial installation date to discuss the job completion and final bill, but he was always 'unavailable' and 'would return my call'. I'm still waiting Jim...
* After 6 weeks I made my own suggestion of a discount of 10% due to the poor service. This was declined and an offer of £100 off (2.9%) offered instead. I suggested we meet in the middle - this was also declined.
* I received no apology, or recognition that the service I received was less than they would hope to offer.
On the whole, absolutely appalling service. Had they accepted that the service was sub-standard and taken steps to demonstrate that they wanted to make up for the initial short comings, I would not be writing this. But I have been chasing PBW for 8 weeks, trying to get them to take responsibility and they show little interest in anything but the bill. I hope nobody else has to go through the same experience as I have.

It has been extremely challenging as a business to operate with ever-changing restrictions, industry wide delays, supply shortages and employees self-isolating, not to mention mental health challenges. We work tirelessly to ensure we can do as much as we physically can to ensure smooth operation of every customer.
With regret, since the pandemic, Polar Bear Windows have had a number of negative reviews, more than we have had in total since the company was established. Although we take full responsibility for not delivering the high standards that our customers expect, the majority of issues were caused by factors beyond our control and we are deeply saddened that our reputation could be affected due to the pandemic.
We could have been better prepared however, we are not sure if anyone could have been prepared for how the last 17 months has unfolded.
We put the customer at the heart of what we do, and we take very seriously on the few occasions that we have not met our usual 5 star standards. In order to ensure that this is rectified we have changed existing and implemented new processes, we have recruited more staff and are doing everything in our control to ensure every customer receives the high standards which are associated with Polar Bear Windows.
We ask that you and any potential new customer, to base your decision on our experience and expertise and not the challenges we faced during this pandemic.
Excellent service from start to finish
Excellent service from start to finish. The Front door was delayed due to Covid but we were kept in touch all the way through. The two chaps that fitted the door were amazing and left the site nice and clean. I would recommend this company 100% lovely job

Great team who give great service
New enclosed porch and front door fitted with great service from the team at Polar Bear Windows Ltd. One glass panel was delayed but the team kept us informed. Very pleased with the composite door and outside door.

Bought on value but delighted with quality
Having looked at various companies it soon became apparent that Polar Bear were offering the same or better quality for a lot less money. Very easy company to deal with and staff were honest even when it meant selling me a cheaper option. Fitting team were technically subcontractors but work only for PB. They were very polite left the house immaculate and didn't swear once !! The real clincher for me was that we had a slight problem with the new composite door but this was rectified and agreement reached to our satisfaction politely quickly and with a minimum of fuss.

Excellent door and first class installation
I love my new door, the quality is exceptional and the fitting was flawless. There were some issues with delivery and I did have to wait longer than expected for my fitting, but it was worth the wait. I will definitely be using Polar Bear Windows again in future.

Authentic friendly company
I never leave reviews but had to make the exemption this time. The attention and care I recieaved from the start to finish was superbed. I had other quotes from other windows companies but they seem to use sneaky sales tactics which I didn’t not appreciate!
My order was handled smoothly and installation was completed professionally ( even working through the rain). Thanks again for all your help, you made this old lady very happy!
